ENGINEER GIRL WRITING CONTEST: This writing contest is open to 3-12 graders asking students to submit works of fiction. We want stories about someone learning to live on a new world while traveling in space. Winners will receive $500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd, and $100 for 3rd. The purpose of the Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference is to promote the vital role of the First Amendment as a cornerstone of democracy and to inspire students to pursue journalism careers. Deadline: February 1, 2020 NSRCF SOUTHEAST ASIAN SCHOLARSHIP: The Nisei Student Relocation Commemorative Fund (NSRCF) was founded in 1980 by Nisei (second generation Japanese Americans) who were incarcerated in U.S. internment camps during World War II. In 2020, the Fund has selected Washington State as the area for this year’s awards. There will be at least $60,000 in award money for scholarships. Requirements include: Ancestry in one of the Southeast Asian ethnic group (listed on their website), graduate high school in 2019-2020 school year, Attend a four-year college or university; community college; accredited vocational or technical school in the Fall of 2020. AMERICAN INDIAN SCHOLARSHIPS: This scholarship is awarded to help Native American students of any age, any graduate level. Undergraduates are given a preference. All awards are judged based on financial need and academic achievement. Applicants must be Native American and have an average GPA of 3.5 or higher. This is a one-time $4,000 award. Deadline: February 15, 2020 NATIONAL CO-OP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Applicants must be seniors, have a GPA of 3.5 or better, complete a one-page essay, apply and be accepted for the 2018-2019 academic year at one or more of the seven NCCE Partner Colleges & Universities. One hundred fifty-five, renewable $6,000 merit co-op scholarships will be awarded. Apply online at www.waceinc.org/scholarship/. Deadline: February 15, 2020 WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP: Senior women are eligible to apply. Deadline: February 16, 2020 THE CHRISTOPHERS’ 30th ANNUAL POSTER CONTEST FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: This contest is open to students in grades 9-12 and are to interpret the theme of “You Can Make A Difference” in an original poster. WSECU SCHOLARSHIP: WSECU awards $1,500 for two-year college or vocational school students and $2,500 four-year college or graduate school students. A total of $65,000 will be awarded. Deadline: February 20, 2020 THE DREAM NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP: National Scholarship is essentially the “Pell Grant” for highly motivated DREAMers with significant, unmet financial need. While we consider your GPA and test scores, we place great emphasis on your demonstrated commitment to community service and your ability to overcome the barriers and challenges that DREAMers face each and every day. The National Scholarship Award will cover your tuition and fees up to a maximum of $14,500 for an associate’s degree and $29,000 for a bachelor’s degree, at one of our Partner Colleges. ASSOCIATION OF COMPUTER PROFESSIONALS IN EDUCATION (ACPE) SCHOLARSHIPS: This scholarship opens January 1st. ACPE annually awards scholarships to outstanding students in Washington and Oregon who have demonstrated a high involvement with technology during their high school careers. BECU FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS: Each awarded scholarship is $2,500 and renewable for two years ($5,000 total). With the help of our business partners, member donations, and fundraising activities, we award a minimum of 25 scholarships each year. To be eligible for this award, you must: Be a member of BECU and primary accountholder at the time of the application submission, be a graduating high school senior or undergraduate student currently enrolled in a two-year, four-year or technical college or university, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater. Scholarships are awarded based on the student's commitment to community service as well as leadership and academic potential. MARCH DEADLINES 2020 KIWANIS CLUB OF FEDERAL WAY TRADE/VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is for seniors planning on going to a vocational, trade or technical school. Deadline: March 1, 2020 ACS SCHOLARS PROGRAM: The American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Program awards approximately 100 scholarships to encourage the best and brightest African American, Hispanic and Native American students to pursue undergraduate degrees in the chemical sciences. GENERAL FEDERATION OF WOMEN’S CLUBS--NANCY JONES SCHOLARSHIP: The offering a $1,500 scholarship to a female student graduating from a Seattle public high school or a South King County high school. The student who will receive this award will be judged equally on: character, school grades, financial need, volunteer experience in the community, school, and/or religious establishment, future goals, and work experience. GREATER SEATTLE WA CHAPTER OF THE LINKS INCORPORATED SCHOLARSHIP: The Greater Seattle (WA) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated was established in 1955 with a commitment to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the identities, culture, and economic survival of African-Americans and persons of African descent. Scholarships will be awarded to qualified high school seniors of African American descent who reside in King, Snohomish, Kitsap, Clallum and Jefferson counties, are U.S. citizens and demonstrate exemplary leadership in

SEAeD Southeast Asian American Education Coalition: The Southeast Asian American Education (SEAeD) Coalition was founded in 2012 by Southeast Asian American community members of Washington State to address the educational opportunity gap of Southeast Asian Americans. They are offering scholarships for the amount of $2,500 each to be awarded to two students this year. Requirements include: Southeast Asian Ethnic heritage (specifics found on application), be a graduating senior or underclassmen, no GPA requirement, Washington resident. CANCER UNWRAPPED WRITING CONTEST: Have you survived cancer? Have you watched a loved one or friend deal with cancer? We want to hear your story! The Cancer Unwrapped High School Writing Contest invites students to submit essays about their experience with cancer for the opportunity to win one of several $1,000 cash prizes. AMERICAN SOCIETY OF HUMAN GENETICS ESSAY CONTEST: The American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) invites you to participate in the 11th Annual DNA Day Essay Contest. The contest is open to students in grades 9-12. The contest aims to challenge students to examine, question, and reflect on important concepts in genetics. Essays are expected to contain substantive, well-reasoned arguments indicative of a depth of understanding of the concepts related to the essay question. ASSOCIATION OF COMPUTER PROFESSIONALS IN EDUCATION (APCE): This year the Association of Computer Professionals in Education (ACPE) has allocated up to $10,000 for scholarships of up to $2,000 each for students in Oregon and Washington. These scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors who have been actively involved in the use of technology during their high school careers and are planning to pursue studies in a technology related field.
