May 2018 Workspace Update

Logon Script, Interface, Software, and Standards Configuration Changes These changes are “behind the scenes” to update ODOT tools in response to software and operating

system upgrades.

Cell Libraries ODOT.cel was updated to make T_ScaleWarning a simpler

cell and to add three Datum note cells and four MatchLine

note cells. The scale warning cell is designed to be

measured with a ruler on a printed sheet to verify that the

print was scaled correctly.

Bridge has updated the following cells in bridge.cel: T_DetailTitle1, T_AsConstruct, T_SpliceLengths3.3,

T_SpliceLengths4.0, and T_DetailRef. Two cells were added: T_AsConstruct_M (for mylar plans) and

D_L_Truck (Truck Permit Load Diagram). T_Datum was removed.

Welding.cel containing welding symbols used by several disciplines was added to the workspace.

DGNLIB Changes In TASKodot.dgnlib, removed a duplicate task for Titleblock Text from General>Titleblocks. Added

Left/Right Arrow to Striping under both Survey>Exist (Striping Arrows group) and Survey>Cloud

Mapping (Striping Legends group).

Four Match Line cells (requiring two points to locate and then rotate) and three Datum cells (notes, really) were added to General>General Misc. Click and hold on any item with a black arrow at the right to display the entire sub-group and an option to open the ‘sub-group’ as a toolbox.

Titles for Details have undergone new naming and sizing – approved by CAD Standards. Titles and underlined titles are conveniently located in both General>Details and Roadway>Details along with the Separation Line. Primary (0.0106’) - Secondary (0.0087’) - Minor (0.0075)

Welding Symbols has been added as a workflow under ODOT with the discipline workflows. There are two groups: left side and right side, and then sub-groups fir item types.

ETodot.dgnlib was modified to rename the element templates for detail titles and to add three new

element templates for the underlined detail titles. New element templates point to new underlined text

styles. Changes to the element templates are “behind the scenes” changes that are used by the ODOT

tasks.

Three additional text styles were created in TSodot.dgnlib for underlined detail title text. The

underlines are offset 0.10. The non-underlined detail title text uses the same three text styles, but turns

off the underlining. When you select Primary, Secondary, or Minor Title from the Details group, you will

see that the Text Style field name in the tool settings dialog is displayed with blue-colored text,

indicating that the text style has been modified. This is normal and correct behavior.

Four new levels were added to the Level Library, LVodot.dgnlib, to assist in element display in Curb

Ramp Details. P_RDWY_ROAD_CurbTopFace, Curb ramp top face of curb - CO=0; LC=0; WT=1;

P_RDWY_ROAD_CurbTopBack, Curb ramp top back of curb - CO=0; LC=0; WT=1; P_RDWY_ROAD_Apron,

Curb ramp edge of apron - CO=2; LC=2; WT=1; P_RDWY_ROAD_Sawcut, Sawcut lines - CO=0; LC=4;

WT=1.

The Print Styles library, PSodot.dgnlib, was modified to rename the _PDFXsections_11x17 print style to

_PDFXsections_eBIDS_ODOT. The print style was then modified to use odotSizes_pdf_levels.pltcfg

printer driver and eBIDSXsections.tbl pen table. PDFs of cross sections produced using the “eBIDS” print

style will have PDF layers. The graphics will be produced in color, except yellow lines which will be

printed black, and all line work will be 0.02 mm wide. The _PDFXsections_eBIDS_ODOT print style is

designed to create digital PDFs of cross sections so that digital zooming may be performed.

Modified MENUodot.dgnlib in order to show GuidSIGN on the ODOT menu when GuidSIGN is installed

to the C:\ODOT folder structure.

Seed Changes Seed_titleblock.dgn – Fixed a spelling error in the Q model description.

Seed_OandM.dgn – Fixed a shared cell issue.

Pen Table Changes A new pen table, based upon plans.tbl, but one that will display the long path/filename in a sheet

border, has been placed into the workspace. Use plans_FullPath.tbl when printing plan sheets that are

not stored in ProjectWise.

When working with Curb Ramp Details, you may choose a new pen table named

plans_CurbRampDetail.tbl which is based upon plans.tbl, but also screens (gray shades) existing utilities

along with other existing features when they are attached as a reference with a logical name that uses

the text string “exist”.

The eBIDSXsections.tbl pen table was created to be used by the _PDFXsections_eBIDS_ODOT print style.

The eBIDSXsections.tbl pen table uses text substitution and shape masking like plans.tbl, and has

additional sections that will draw all elements 0.02 mm wide and in color, except yellow is printed black.

This pen table is designed for digital PDFs of cross sections so that digital zooming may be performed.

April 2018 Workspace Update

Cell Libraries In ODOT.cel, TBLOCK_V_NO was revised to move the origin to the lower right corner of the sheet and

the text was placed on Level 63 so that it may be turned on/off independently from other title block

text. The active point for the V number placement was removed from the upper right corner in

ODOTTblk_DP. Sheet titles were updated in TitleG and TitleH cells. The Scale Bar cells were updated to

include dynamic text fields that display the length of the scale lines. The text fields have a gray

background (that does not print, by the way). During placement the text fields display the original

lengths of the lines in the cell (1” looks like 0.08); after placement the fields update to the lengths of the

lined after the cell has been resized by the annotation scale. The image below shows the scale bar being

placed in a 1”=15’ drawing.

Commissioner Paula Brown’s name was removed from COMMISS in TitleSheet.cel.

Geo.cel modified NOTE_SUBSURFLEG to add STP test refusal length and modified TITLE_SECTIONAA to

add horizontal and vertical scale text.

OandM.cel had 5 new cells of simple shapes for manholes and inlets added: OM_1LIDFC, OM_2LIDFC,

OM_CDS1LID, OM_CDS2LID, OM_OCS (most are available for placement from the OM

Stormwater>Shapes group). OM_TXLEG was updated to remove three items.

DGNLIB Changes In TASKodot.dgnlib, modified the Geo Hyd Env>OM Stormwater groups to remove the Details group

and added most of those items under the Shapes group.

ETodot.dgnlib was modified to add the element templates for OM Stormwater lines - Edge of Gravel,

Ditch, Guardrail, Edge of Pavement, Concrete, Aggregate and Other planting mix, and to point

General>General Arrows>North Arrow to the NorthArrow cell.

Reference Changes Legend text in ecV8_cache.dgn, signcacheV8.dgn, and signcacheV8.dgn was updated to use True Type

Fonts.

ODOTTblk_DP and TBLOCK_V_NO cells that were updated in the ODOT.cel cell library were replaced in

the cache file plansV8.dgn. The Sheet Titles box was removed entirely (those now come from the title

block seed file).The section township range text from the sheet title name box was copied into the

Typical Tools box, and the Typical Tools box has been slid upward and vertically aligned to the top right

side of the example sheet border.

Seed Changes SeedRW2d.dgn – Added a model named Survey Filing Map Borders for maps created by the Regions that

get recorded (filed) with the Counties. Updated the Basis of Bearing and Coordinate statements on A

and B map borders.

Seed_OandM.dgn – Updated layout and text styles. Updated to align with revisions made to the cell

library and task tools. Updated Notes to drafter to include reference to the revised Technical Bulletin.

Seed_TWM.dgn – Updated text styles.

Seed_GTsub.dgn – Created a new seed file for subsurface geotech sheets.

Seed_titleblock.dgn – Revised the Base model to add the TBLOCK_V_NO cell. Revised G_Sheets and

H_Sheets models to replace the modified cells TitleG and TitleH.

TBLOCK_V_NO and COMMISS cells were replaced in both seed_tse.dgn and seed811tse.dgn.

March 2018 Workspace Update

Standards Configuration Changes The ODOT standard configuration file, ODOT_Standards.cfg, has been modified to set a variable when

AutoTURN 10 has been installed, so that AutoTURN 10 may be launched from the ODOT menu in

MicroStation.

Cell Libraries TitleSheet.cel – Modified INDEX1, INDEX2, INDEX3, INDEX4, and INDEX5 to provide rows for additional

information, such as “Major Category Name”. Descriptions were updated in the cell library to assist in

selecting the appropriate cell.

DGNLIB Changes In TASKodot.dgnlib, added Change Text to ODOT Contours command to General>Tools workflow to help

automate the task of making contour labels mask their contour line instead of using clipping. Typical

usage is to make a selection set that includes contour text before running the command. An additional

left-click is required to accept and process the change to masking text.

A new group named Index of Sheets was added to the General workflow containing just the INDEX cells

that are used in title sheets.

ETodot.dgnlib, the Element template DGN library, was also modified to create an element template for

Survey\Existing\Features\DTM\Contours with the text style set to ODOT Contours. The element

template supplies tasks that use the Change Text to ODOT Contours command with the correct

attributes.

TSodot.dgnlib was modified to add a text style named ODOT Contours. This text style uses a TrueType

font, annotation scaling, and employs a background fill that is the same color as the background –

essentially masking whatever is beneath the text in a 2D model or at lower elevation than the text, in a

3D model.

MENUodot.dgnlib was modified so that when AutoTURN 10 is installed on your computer, it will appear

on the ODOT menu in MicroStation.

MDL Changes The Axiom Office Importer license files were updated on servers that allow Axiom to be used (mostly

tech centers).

Reference Changes Revised the Standard Drawing list in cache_tse.dgn for January 2018 and replaced the INDEX cells.

Seed Changes SeedRW2d.dgn added border cells to BLM Plats and FS Plats models. Corrected A Maps and B Maps

borders orientation to match original: changed bearing statement verbiage and justification to center-

center; changed coordinate verbiage and justification to center-center. In models 1R3 Maps, 1R4 Maps,

BLM Plats, FS Plats, RR Maps and Sketches: changed map borders level from P_ODOT_PLAN_Border to

#plot_shape and returned substitution text to display file path.

InRoads XIN Changes In both civil.xin and civilSS4.xin:

Change for Design - added three new preferences for the View Contours… command with

settings appropriate for 1”=40’, 1”=100’ and 1”=200’. Preferences (based on DTM_Existing)

named Inch40_ExtgContours, Inch100_ExtgContours, and Inch200_ExtgContours – remove

“Clipping”, draw all contour lines with a solid line, the label has no suffix or prefix, and the text

color is red. (see picture in DGNLIB Changes above)

Change for Survey – created named symbologies , style (with alpha code=CURF), and rule set for

importing Rdwy_CurbTF_E , Existing Top Face of Curb. (Rdwy_Curb_E, alpha code=CUR is used

for existing top back of curb)

Change for Survey – created named symbologies , style (with alpha code=PIT), and rule set for

importing the location of a Test Pit.

Change for Survey – created a rule set for importing the location of a Test Bore Hole and

removed a curb level (E_RDWY_ROAD_Curb) from the selection criteria in the rule set for

Gutter.
