Meet the Branhams: Kevin, Janet, Emma, and Ellie...our PIPC Family

of the Month! Eight year-old Emma enjoys playing soccer and swimming. Four year-old Ellie enjoys dance and Disney prin-cesses. They both love spending time with their Nana and going to Disney World. As a family, the Branhams enjoy go-ing to the beach, spending time out on the boat, and University of South Carolina football.

Kevin and Janet are both employed by the Georgetown County School District. Kevin works at Andrews High School where he teaches Student Leadership I & ll. He is also the Head Varsity boys’ basketball coach and Co-Athletic Director for the Yellow Jackets. Janet works at Andrews Elementary School where she serves as the school’s Curriculum Coach. The Branhams have been members of PIPC for eight years. Kevin and Janet were introduced to PIPC by Gary and Melodye Sparks. Both knew that this is where God wanted them to be after visiting and having a chance to meet Pastor Frank. Be on the lookout for the Branhams and say hello!

The music life here at PIPC is truly a ministry. If you want to be involved in the music life of our church, contact Lana at [email protected] or (904) 434-6753. There’s a place for you! The Chancel Choir needs enough basses, tenors, altos, and sopranos to cover each other for every Sun-day. No one expects you to sing a solo or be here every week. It is an amazing group and a joy to be a part. Feb. 4th - Communion and the beautiful anthem “There Is a Balm in Gilead” by Howard Helvey Feb. 11th - Chancel Choir will sing a powerful new anthem, “In Christ Alone” Alleluia Ringers will be playing Feb. 14th—Wednesday night service of Ash Wednesday will be at 7:00 pm to begin the Season of Lent. There will be a light supper at 6:00 pm. The choir will sing “The Rose of Sharon.” Feb. 18th, Lent 1 - “A Clean Heart” by Benjamin Harlan Feb. 25th, Lent 2 - “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” by Gilbert M. Martin We are so proud of our Alleluia Ringers for their dedication! We will be attending the Palmetto Bronze Handbell Festival in Charleston on March 3 - 4 and spending hours learning new music and techniques with 200 other ringers. We also teamed up with neighboring ringers from St. Peter’s Luthe-ran and St. Paul’s Methodist. Well-known composer, Kevin McChesney, will be the clinician. Tentative worship performance dates are Feb. 11, March 25, and April 29 to finish our season. We are at it again! The Pawleys Island Presbyterian Pickers are rehearsing on Wednesdays at 4:00 pm in the sanctuary. Can you pick? Or sing? Do you enjoy bluegrass? Ken Leach (who got a fiddle for Christmas) is the contact person or Lana. Grace and Peace, Lana

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.” 1 John 4:7

We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper on

Sunday, February 4th,

during the worship service. Prepare your hearts!

“Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of

that cup.” 1 Corinthians 11:27-28

1 Corinthians 13:6‐7

On behalf of the Staff and Guests of the Bread of Life Kitchen, we would like to thank you for your support. We would not be able to provide meals to an average of eighty guests each Monday and Tuesday without your financial support. Thank you, Howard Bogner PIPC Bread of Life Kitchen Dear PIPC,

Thank you for your generous and continued support of our ministry. Because of you, our children are safe, warm and loved. Please continue to pray for our children and families. In Christ, Jenn Thornwell Home for Children Dear PIPC Women and members, Thank you so much for the king gifts of love you provided residents of the Florcnce Presbyterian Home. The gifts you so graciously provided allowed each resident to receive a special gift from Santa Claus. Without your generosity and support this would not be possible. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says, Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Thank you again for being a cheerful giver. Sincerely, Amanda Allen—Director of Life Enrichment of the Florence Presbyterian Community

Food Drive Update “PIPC shot the moon!”

That is a direct quote from Baskervill regarding the amount of food we collected for our first quarterly food drive in January. We collected 80 plus bags of groceries to stock the pantry with. Many thanks to all who responded to the needs of the hungry in our community. It’s not too late participate if you were out of town or unable to bring your groceries on the collection date. Just bring them into the office or narthex and we will deliver them to the Pantry. Our next church wide drive will be on April 29th.

Thank you!!!

Brothers and sisters in Christ: every year Christians celebrate our redemption through the passion, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. Lent is a time when the church

prepares for this celebration and seeks to renew its life in the paschal mystery given in Christ. We begin this holy season by acknowledging

our need for repentance and for the mercy and forgiveness proclaimed in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The journey to Easter begins with the sign of ashes. This ancient sign speaks to the

frailty and uncertainty of human life and marks the penitence of this community.

In the name of Christ, you are invited to ob-serve a holy Lent by self-examination and

penitence, by prayer and fasting, by reading and meditating on Scripture and by acts of

mercy and love and obedience.

Join us on Wednesday, February 14th, at 6:00 PM in the Holsclaw Fellowship Center for our Ash Wednesday Dinner.

Afterwards, we will have our Ash Wednesday Service in the sanctuary

at 7:00 PM.

Make plans to join us for this special time of worship.
