15th February, 2015 Transfiguration of Our Lord
But as one of them was cutting a tree, his ax head fell into the river. “Oh, sir!” he cried. “It was a borrowed ax!” “Where did it fall?” the man of God asked. When he showed him the place, Elisha cut a stick and threw it into the water at that spot. Then the ax head floated to the surface. “Grab it,” Elisha said. And the man reached out and grabbed it. 2 Kings 6:5-7 (NLT)

A Message From Pastor Milton
Today we are looking at what can only be described as a Ridiculous Recovery! The story of the floating piece of iron is surely one of the strangest stories in the whole of the bible. You can read the story in 2 Kings 6:1-7. What is the point of this story? It is a story about the reversal of natures. Iron floats like wood. The floating wood attracts the
iron like a magnet. The story reminds us how God’s power invades the world of the ordinary to effect strange reversals. The lowly are raised to places of honour. Sinners are justified (declared not guilty) of their sin and guilt. The lost are found. The dead are raised. It also reminds us of the incredible recovery that God has worked in our lives when through Jesus he has brought us from being lost to sin to being restored with him. The story reminds us that in our time of need we too can cry out to God for help. As we hear about this Ridiculous Recovery, we also hear the amazing story of Jesus’ transfiguration on the Mount in the gospel reading. I pray that you have enjoyed reflecting on some of the stories involving Elijah and Elisha over these past weeks. They are a powerful reminder of how God is active in the world. Milton

Can you help with craft items for H2H? H2H this semester is getting creative and therefore needs craft items, magazines, newspapers. So if you have any leftover bits of wool, material, cotton balls, or even small dried flowers, leaves, wood shavings etc. we can use them. Also if you have or know of somewhere where we can buy or get either the paper or the wooden ends for a scroll something like the one pictured please let me know. Please either bring them into the parish office or I can collect them from church or your place. Thanks so much in advance. Vicki H2H Leader

to hear from you and help you if you want to continue in your faith walk, learning
more about our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Guests – we trust that you have drawn closer to God in worship today. Our
church is blessed by your presence today. Please stay and enjoy a ‘cuppa’ with
us after worship and make yourself known to us. We’d love to answer any queries
you may have.
Help Us To Care - if you know of someone who has fallen ill or who is suffering in
any way, please let the Pastoral Care Coordinator or one of the Pastors know by
contacting the parish office so that appropriate care and follow up can occur.
Thinking Of Joining This Church? – We would love for you to make that
commitment with us, as you make a conscious decision to be part of something
bigger than simply yourself. If you have been worshipping here regularly and are
not yet a member, the pastors would be happy to talk to you about ‘making our
