All Americans should celebrate the rich traditions of African Americans while at the same time celebrating those aspects of their own culture around their own positive contributions to society. Throughout the year, we as Americans should recognize the important contributions of all ethnic groups. Our history is made up of millions of events that make us who we are today. Sorors February has been a blast, LNO chapter hosted this year’s Joint Founders Day Observance and it was a great success, there were over 670 sorors in attendance to hear our own Supreme Basileus Dorothy Buchanan Wilson speak. Sorors please note that this JFD celebration will go down in “herstory” as I don’t think at any other JFD that a chapter was able to have a Supreme Basileus attend and be the guest speaker. I want to thank Soror Michelle and her committee again for such a wonderful job in planning this year’s JFD program. We also enjoyed a wonderful church service on Sunday February 8th at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, IL. Thanks again Soror Dalavia for extending your church home to LNO for this year’s JFD observance. Thanks, Soror Jacqueline (Jackie) Jones

Accomplishments

Let’s congratulate Soror Verna Wilson on her Educator of the Year award at the National Association of University Women Luncheon on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Soror Verna has served the education industry for more than 20 years so this honor is well-deserved.

A special thank you goes to Soror Michelle Abernathy for her leadership as chairman of the 2015 Chicago-area Joint Foundaers’ Day celebration. Her dedication and commitment certainly warrants our applause! Recognition should also be given to her committee who worked diligently to help Soror Michelle achieve her goal of a stellar event that had more than 670 sorors in
