Advance the Spark

Fifty-four years for our Chapter and counting! Combine fifty-four with the eighty-six years since the firstModel A and we have a lot of heritage in our group. The “New Ford” as it was called and your “New Board” areexpecting another fabulous year.

We started with our Installation Banquet where many of us came in our period clothes and cars to meet thecoming years officers and have a wonderful and entertaining brunch. Later in the month we had our annualMemorial tour where we reflect and remember those members who are no longer with us. This year that tour

went to Ojai. We capped off the month with a breakfast at Bob’s Big Boy. This social event always draws over 20 participants withmany Model A’s.

Also, seven of our cars became movie stars! We were at Universal Studios where we participated in the filming of “The Sound and theFury” which is a William Faulkner novel. The original version was shot in 1959 starring Yul Brenner and Joanne Woodward. Wewere in the 1928 scenes of the movie. Release will be around the end of the year and we will get the film to show at a meeting.

The February meeting will be having a slide presentation of the exhibits in the new MAFFI Model A Museum in Hickory Corners,Michigan. Also, at that meeting we will announce our charity for 2014 as well as future tours. Remember that the Members-Onlydrawing is for $20 and we keep drawing names until we have a winner (just make sure you are wearing your badge, shirt, etc with yourname).

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at our meetings. If you haven’t attended in a while, please consider renewing yourfriendships. If it is difficult to get to our meeting, let an officer know and we will get someone to pick you up.

And, as always, let’s advance the spark!

Christmas Light Tour, 2013

Carol and Ron Mosher, always the most gracious ofhosts, opened their home once again to our band of

miscreants on December 15 for snacks brought by club membersand as a base on which we could deck boughs ofholly on our cars. Satiated, we set out across the width and breadth ofthe Santa Clarita Valley, in search of awesome lightdisplays. So did everybody else that night. Afterfighting traffic, and seeing some

great lighting extravaganzas, we headed to LyonsAve. To share pizza, beverage and swap stories ofthe adventure.

Thanks again, Carol and Ron

And thanks to John Bury for the pictures

Club Memorial Run, 2014 Ojai, CAWe had a fabulous day driving to Ojai with about 9cars of devoted club members. The drive was smooth (thanks to Mike Culp) andthe scenery magnificent as wemeandered through the backroads to Ojai.Passing farms, orchards lined withfruits trees, ranches andmotorcycles, we reached our finaldestination of

Boccali's Pizza and Pasta. We enjoyed a tasty lunchand outrageous Hot AppleCobbler Ala Mode for dessert. We were all satisfied...butfelt the urge to go shopping in the town of Ojai. The

ladies went in and out of almost allof the stores helping the economy, while the men gathered in the parkrelaxing and wondering how many bagsthe girls would return with. All inall the day was successful for all. We drove home withoutincident! Wish more of you would join us on upcomingevents.
