THE WONDERFUL

FOOLISHNESS OF GOD

Jews demand miraculous signs and

Greeks look for wisdom, but we

preach Christ crucified: a stumbling

block to Jews and foolishness to

Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both

Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the

wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser

than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is

stronger than man’s strength. (1 Corinthians 1:22-25).

In our hyper-sensitive and hyper-critical world it is no

wonder that the message of the cross is despised,

ridiculed, and ignored. Of the more than 4,000

organized religions around the world, Christianity stands

alone in that a god – the only True God – comes to

people with the free offer of the forgiveness of sins. All

people, whether they acknowledge it or not, are

“spiritual” and “religious.” And all people by nature,

including us and our teens, loathe the concept that we

are indeed sinners and on our own are helpless before

the true God who really does demand perfection. It is

that simple, beautiful, and “foolish” truth that the Son of

God – holy, eternal, and all-powerful – inserted himself

into history to accomplish for us what we could not do

on our own. Then we marvel at the work of the Holy

Spirit who convinces our dead hearts that this message –

so “foolish” to the ears of the world – is true and that it

applies to us. We receive the Gospel by faith, and we

marvel at the beautiful simplicity of it all. Jesus Christ

gave himself up as a perfect sacrifice, acceptable to the

Father, and credited to us who believe.

As we rejoice in our status as God’s children, we are

equipped to serve our teens with this Gospel so that they,

too, grow in their faith. And, as they grow in the

security that comes through Jesus, they will be

motivated to develop and use their talents in service to

him and others and to share their faith with those who so

sadly see the message of Jesus as foolishness.

TUITION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE

The Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School

Federation recognizes that the cost of Christian

secondary education has the potential of being a

challenge for some families. For that reason they

have established the KML Tuition Assistance

Program which is designed to help families meet

the cost of this great blessing. The monies come

from various donors and foundations, including the

KML Foundation. Applicants may apply online by

going to www.kmlhs.org/tuitionassistance (note

the new web address). Applications must be

submitted no later than March 15. The Finance

Committee will determine the assistance

distribution by mid April. Feel free to contact Jody

Hansen, Business Manager, at 262-677-4051,

ext. 1109 if you have any questions.

FEBRURARY OFFICE HOURS

KML will be closed for Winter Break on Monday,

February 18. The office will be open that day from

9:00 - 1:00. Regular office hours of 7:15 - 3:45 will

be maintained for all other week days throughout

the month.

KML INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM

“Training teens and others to walk in the cross of Christ” Celebrate Reach Outfit Share Service

I Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

The Cross Trainers have been putting their God-given talents to use this first semester of the school year. From

peer mentoring to community outreach planning it has been a joy to watch these students put their faith into action.

KML is developing servant leaders through this circle of ministry.

Currently, we are excited about the upcoming mission trips to take place in the spring of this year. We are planning

on sending out approximately 33 students and 9 chaperones to the following home mission congregations:

Victory of the Lamb – Katy, Texas

Amazing Love – New Lenox, Illinois

Amazing Grace – Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Beautiful Savior – Clarksville, Tennessee

Saving Grace – Mobile, Alabama

King of Kings – Alexandria, Louisiana

The dates of these trips will be March 20-26. Pray for these students and chaperones as they serve the Lord in a

variety of ways. If you are interested in helping defray transportation costs and sponsor these trips, please contact

Mr. Mark Heckendorf [email protected] or 677-4051 ext. 1160. We thank you for your support of

KML and the Cross Trainer ministry!
