TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND – SPORTSMAN EVENT

Hi Everyone, since, I last wrote to you all we have had the December Sportsman Event and the January RARS

Round which were Round Two and Three of the Willowbank Raceway Track Championship. Both of these events

were quite successful for Willowbank Raceway and we thank you most sincerely for your support.

Our heartiest congratulations go to all the winners / runners-up from both events; and to the record breakers

from the January RARS Round. Well done to you all. Our usual photo gallery of all winners and runners up follows

Track Championship Round – Sportsman Event

As you are aware we have Round Four of the Track Championship coming up this weekend and we look forward

to your participation. You can enter online on the website or enter on the day of the event. The more we have

pre-entered the easier our job is in preparation for the event and the more detail we have on you and your

vehicle for the announcers.

We again encourage more competitors to race at these events as the rewards are great for the Track

Championship. Don’t forget each Track Champion will receive a Cheque for $1500.00 Cash (if the bracket is

sponsored) , a beautiful Track Championship Trophy (worth close on $800) and a FULL season of FREE entry fees

totalling approx $1600.00, (if you enter every track championship event). This adds up to a substantial end of

year “Pot of Gold” for the Track Championship Winners.

Please Note 1: That a Track Championship will only be awarded if the Bracket is run at least 6 times each season.

Please Note 2: To be eligible for the track championship prizemoney cheque, you must fit the bracket sponsor

stickers to your vehicle. The stickers are available at the Administration point in the staging lanes. No Stickers No

Championship Cheque. Our Policy on Bracket Sponsor stickers is listed on the website.

So get that race vehicle out of the shed dust it off and enter the events , you could be banking the track

championship cheque and looking for a place on the shelf for that hard earned Track Championship Trophy.

Winternationals Early Bird Entries

By now you would have seen all the information on the website about the Early Bird entry concept for the

Winternationals. We have already explained all the reasons for this concept in writing to you all but there are

some points that I wish to clarify.

Firstly, we understand that February is a long way from the event to make the decision to race, so if you are

unsure if you will be able to race at the event, enter online anyway with your credit card and if for some reason

you cannot race notify the office and we will provide you a full refund to your credit card.

Secondly, if you are unsure if you will have enough points before you make the decision to travel, then as above,

enter online with your credit card and if you don’t have enough points notify the office and we will provide you a

full refund to your credit card.

Many Competitors across all categories have already taken up the opportunity to save some money and are

entered for the event and we encourage you all to take up the opportunity.




Competitor Focus Group Feedback

We have been collating all the input received from the first competitor focus group meeting and over the next

few months many ideas from that meeting will be put into practice at Willowbank Raceway. The ideas coming

from the Focus Group Meeting include –

* Alcohol Sales at the facility – This has been implemented already.

* ANDRA Licence Holder Test Days – We are going to try one of these days shortly. The date for this test day will

be March 17 and we will release all details on the website shortly

* Track Championship Rounds – The request was made very strongly to not include RARS Rounds and the

Winternationals into the Willowbank Raceway Track Championship in the future. We are considering this change

for next season.

The next meeting of the Competitor Focus Group will be held in March and the delegates will receive info on that

shortly.

Race Fan Focus Group

We are currently formulating a questionnaire that will be sent to our enormous Database of Race Fans registered

on our website, approximately 5,000 people. We will be asking lots of questions about what they want to see at

Willowbank Raceway and what they like and what they don’t like. We will be asking them about Drag Racing

Categories, Racing Formats, Event Formats, Prices, Food and the facilities.

We will also be discussing some items with the Race Fan Focus Group, that have been raised by the Competitor

Focus Group and the results of this survey will provide a great insight into what they like and dislike about Drag

Racing at Willowbank Raceway and what they want to see in the future.

We will keep you informed of the results.

ANDRA / Major Facility Meeting – Adelaide Head Office - February 9th

This meeting had representatives from the ANDRA Office, ANDRA Ltd Board and the Major Facilities including

Darwin. Overall it was a very positive meeting between all parties and I believe a great deal of headway was

achieved. Some of the topics covered include;

and I am certain some positive announcements will be made shortly.




Cruzin Nostalgia Drags

The Great News for Nostalgia Racers is that the Feb 25th Cruzin Magazine Nostalgia Drags Event is coming along

very well. Sponsors and racers are throwing their support behind the first nostalgia event to be held at

Willowbank Raceway under our complete management.

Already, a long list of sponsors have signed up while racer interest indicates more than 150 racers are set to enter

what will be one of two nostalgia events for 2012, with management looking to expand the calendar to three

outings in 2013.

Gasoline Magazine, Winters Smash Repairs, Western Suburbs Differential and Gearbox Services, Donnelly Blasting

Services, Shannons Insurance, Autobarn, World Classic Muscle Cars and of course Cruzin Magazine have all got

behind the Cruzin Magazine Nostalgia Drags and we are extremely grateful for their support.

The August 2012 Date will be announced this week as August 11 & 12 and will run in conjunction with the

growing Super Swap Meet.

A further exciting development in 2013 for Nostalgia Drag Racing, will be the introduction of a Nostalgia Super

Stock Bracket. This will be a controlled class to limit costs and will require a 3000 pound car with a Manual Gear

Box and will run on a 9.50 cut off with a Chicago Shootout Heads Up Pro Start format. This will provide the

opportunity to bring back to the sport the magnificent wheel standing Super Stockers of the 70’s and already

several racers have expressed interest in the category.

Rocket Allstars Racing Series Points – Queenslanders Doing Well
