Conference Theme [media| gender | culture]

Media, the fourth estate of democracy is also the conscience keeper of society. Although the intensity of media and the extent of influence are debatable, media has played a key role in shaping the society to a large extent. The portrayal of gender and culture in general by media has been a hot topic of discourse across many academic disciplines such as communication studies, psychology, sociology and Literature, among others.Media, Gender and Culture have a lot to give and take among them and also exert influence on one another. The portrayal of culture and gender by media is an important area of investigation as it can have insurmountable influence on moulding mindsets. While stereotypes and negative portrayal have been the main fodder of research in this field, media's role in positively representing the domain cannot be left behind.
