Hopefully, everyone must have gotton over the hangover of the new year..Here we come closer to the end of financial year 2010-2011.. and it is performance appraisal time again!!! Before the Performance Appraisal actually gets floated, a good time for all to start counting (and recording) the good things and the achievements in the last year. Stretch your memories a bit every day.. go in flashback, right from April 2010 and start jotting down your achievements. Some people prefer to do it the other way round.. they go reverse while recalling. Jotting down recent happenings and then retracing their steps backward..For people who use mail boxes, recall becomes easier with old mails, some people do maintain dairies and calendars of things to do.. There are smarter people who merely tell their wives everything that happens in the office and do they have a great memory!!! Whatever the method...Wish you luck... TOGETHER... WE CAN Like every year, Rohan Group celebrated its Foundation Day with great fervour with some Sites organising Cricket matches like Leher & IOCL, Paradip. H.O. & Bangalore offices planning fun n games along with helping society with Blood Donation camp. Mangalore Sites (MRPL & OMPL) having New year Eve’s party at Hotel and Safety Motivation programmes or whether working hard. This year’s Foundation Day was celebrated at New English School Ground, with the usual Blood Donation Camp organised in the morning where 79 employees from Sites as well as in office donated blood. Afternoon was packed with Fun n games where we had ground team games like Link the chain and run, Hula hoop, Balloon race with partners etc. Each team was divided into 12 different colours. The Purple team were the final winners. Stage games like Dress the Mummy, Make up in 1 minute interspersed with dances and mimicry. This was followed by Dance with DJ music and ended up with a delicious dinner. It was a splendid night on 31/12/2010 where the company had organised a New year party for the staff inclusive of beverages and dinner. Mr. P.Murgan (Proj. Mgr.) & Mr.Dipak Patel (Proj. Mgr.), & Jacobs senior staff our client, were the guests of honour that wonderful evening. The Hotel was wholly decorated with light & Balloons. It was an unforgettable night because all the staff members from MRPL and OMPL have forgotten all their worries and tension, and they all enjoyed themselves immensely dancing the night away to say good bye to the old year and bring in the new. With fond memories being made, for many people it was a night of revelry & festivities. Just like we are working for a common goal in company they came together to celebrate the New Year party. Rohan Leher A Cricket Match was organised at site where 4 teams participated. The teams had an enthusiastic match in the morning and still had energy left for participating in the Foundation Day games organised by HO later in the day too. Keep up the energetic spirit guys!! SAP FUNDA REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS

As a continuation from the last issue, here is the communication

part of the Application Server. We will cover the process that it handles. We need a co-ordinator among different work processes, a kind of Team Lead to say who will do which work and when. •For this we have a DISPATCHER, it organizes the communication between the work processes and also between the SAP GUI. We need a process that keeps info about all processes and help the dispatcher to balance the load among them. •Message server dose exactly that. It also helps to established initial connection between SAP GUI and application server when the user logs in for first time & used for communication with other Systems in the landscape.There is a lot more to this Architecture but this is to give a very general idea of what goes on in the WAS APAB.To clear the picture of the SAP Application server in your mind. Have a look at the image below -

To sum up: •User interacts with the Application server using SAP GUI .•SAP message server establishes the initial connection between user and Dispatcher.•Dispatcher will decide which work process is to be called according to user interaction.•Different work process (Dialog , spool, background, en queue , update) do their job as defined above. Now you know about SAP GUI, Message Server, Dispatcher and 5 different work process. In the Labour camp school Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm.On 25th Jan, uniforms were distributed to 90 students.On 26th Jan, Tricolor flag was hoisted.

They educated the labour about the importance and significance of Republic Day by giving a Speech along with Flag Hoisting.

Head Office, Pune:They celebrated it with the children of Suhrud Mandal(An NGO for deaf children) who displayed their prowess in Pyramid building, Lezim dance (folk dance of Maharashtra) and P.T. exercises.

Hindalco, SingrauliThe Safety team at Singrauli have achieved 4 million safe man hours without any LTI. This is only possible because of constant training given to labour and Contractors regarding importance of Safety, adherence to Safety norms & displaying effective Safety posters all across the Site. Here are a few posters.

Marketing team, RBDPL, Pune:On 29th & 30th Jan 2011, the Mktg team had participated in the CREDAI Exhibition held in Pune. They had set up a stall where the project information was displayed in a hi-fi Multi Touch Interactive Plasma Screen which got much an audience.

MRPL,Mangalore : On 01.01.2001, there was a Site visit by all the top officials of MRPL.Mr. R.S. Sharma (CMD), Mr. Basu (MD),Mr. Joshi (GM),Mr. B.H.V. Prasad (DGM) & Mr. B.U. Nair (RCM from Jacobs). The Site was geared up for the visit and the dignitaries were very impressed with the work done. Congrats to the entire team Rohan for their efforts.

FOUNDATION DAY CELEBRATIONS ACROSS ROHAN SITES

IOCL, Paradip : They had organised a Cricket Match a la T20 style with 2 teams. The Man of the Match was awarded to Jaywant Kumbhar( 52 RUNS + 2 WICKETS). The Winning team was awarded – RS. 5000/- ( FROM MESS EXPENSES-EXCESS AMOUNT) which they used to treat the entire staff.

The Bangalore Branch celebrated the Rohan Foundation Day on 1st January, 2011 at Mihira site. The chief guests were DGM Mr. Suresh H.S., Manager Accounts, Mr. Santosh Lunkad and Manager – Marketing Mr. Raghuraman.The function started with lighting the lamp by DGM Mr. Suresh H.S. and a prayer song sung by the ladies staff. Later, all the guests have given speeches followed by the entertainment programme. There were lots of indoor games which all the employees have enjoyed to the maximum extent with their enthusiastic participation. Gifts were given to the winners and finally the programme ended up with great lunch and vote of thanks by Mr.Raghuraman.

MRF, Trichy A Certificate of Appreciation has been awarded to M/s Rohan Builders (India) Pvt. Ltd. on behalf of Tata Consulting

Engineers Ltd., for having successfully carried out the works for achieving One Million Safe Manhours at MRF, Trichy Site in

January 2011. Along with that a Safety Motivation Programme too was carried out where PPE (how to wear and use) for various

activities like Steel Shifting work, Welding Work, Wrapping Coating Work, Height & Scaffolding, Concreting etc. and General

work was shown. An Award Distribution ceremony too was organised for the deserving staff and labour. Hats Off to the entire

team for achieving this feat and we sincerely hope you continue to maintain the record of Zero Accident.

MRPL, Mangalore :A Safety Motivation programme was organised on 01.01.2011 by Jacobs & also an Award distribution ceremony. In this programme they first took a Safety Pledge as a whole for site staff and the entire work force. It was attended by JACOBS & M.R.P.L. personnel & followed by Safety Speeches given by Jacobs staff and our staff. They have distributed 15 nos promotional prize to workers according to various level and their safety performance. At the end of this programme they have distributed sweets to all workers and staff as well as guest (M.R .P.L . & JACOBS) .The programme was innaugurated and closed by Umesh Gholap.

Health Week, HR : From 17th to 22nd January 2011, a Rohan Health Week in association with Healthy Wealthy n Wise was organised at Head Office, Pune. We had an overwhelming response with 80+ employees lined up for the Health check up. The programme included Blood Tests (lipid profile, Blood Glucose), ECG, Blood pressure, Body Composition (Fat %, Muscle %, Water % and Bone mass Index), Check up by MD, Diet Analysis by Dietician, Posture Analysis by Physiotherapist. We will be conducting one next month too for the employees who didin’t get a chance the first time round.

The Danish Pavilion in Shanghai is an exhibition of sustainable and urban-minded living as experienced in Copenhagen. To share this experience, the Danish Pavilion is designed around the city bike, the harbor path, the playground and the picnic. This white-painted steel structure rises out of the Shanghai Expo grounds in a spiraling pattern, where cyclists and pedestrians alike can tour its features firsthand. Both Copenhagen and Shanghai are amongst the world’s most bike-focused cities, and the goal of the Danish Pavilion is to concrete this relationship and show that sustainable living options can be of great benefit to a city that is quickly moving toward automotive transportation in Shanghai.
