      TREASURE COAST – Construction and maintenance-related lane closures on state highways in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties are expected during the week of December 4 through December 11.     MARTIN COUNTY 

    1. CR 714 / Martin Highway from west of Mapp Road to west of the Florida’s Turnpike Entrance

    Description: This 1.879-mile widening project consists of adding one lane in each direction and constructing a raised median with access points throughout the corridor. Additional improvements include:

  • Beginning October 7, 2015, construction of the median along CR 714 from west of the

    Turnpike entrance to just east of Berry Avenue / Old Palm City Town Square will be

    underway. Motorists will no longer be able to freely turn through the median along this

    portion of CR 714. In addition to the signalized intersections, median openings will be at the

    following locations:

    Armellini Avenue

    Hidden Oaks Middle School Western Entrance

    Isleworth Circle

    This work is part of the $15.72 million County Road 714 widening project that includes

    adding one lane in each direction and constructing a raised median with access points

    throughout the corridor. Additional improvements include: constructing an eight-foot sidewalk

    and a five-foot bike lane on both sides of the roadway; drainage improvements; sound wall

    installation at Sunset Trace; replacing the box culvert at Danforth Creek; and signage,

    signalization, landscape and lighting improvements. This project is anticipated to be

    completed in fall 2016.

    The sidewalk along the south side of County Road 714 (CR 714) / Martin Highway between Berry Avenue

    and Mapp Road is closed. Pedestr ians should use the sidewalk on the nor th side of CR 714 and cross

    at the following signalized crosswalks:

    CHRISTMAS PARADE

    On Friday, December 4, 2015, the Visiting Nurse Association will host the Stuart

    Christmas Parade. The following roads will be closed to traffic.

    From 3:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. southbound lanes and the turning lanes on Monterey

    Road from Kingswood Terrace to Ocean Boulevard will be closed for line-up of

    floats and vehicles.

    From approximately 6:45 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. SE Ocean Boulevard will be closed

    from Monterey Road to the traffic circle at S. Colorado Avenue.

  • Beginning Monday morning, December 14, 2015, the Okeechobee Road / State Road 70 driveway entrance just west of Jenkins Road to the Home Depot shopping center will be closed for drainage installation. This work requires a complete, around-the-clock closure through Friday evening, December 18. Motorist should use the driveway entrances off of Jenkins Road to access businesses during this time. This operation is part of the $5.46 million State Road 70 (SR 70)

    & Jenkins Road Intersection Widening Project in the City of Fort

    Pierce. Work for this project includes widening of SR 70 and

    Jenkins Road at the intersection to provide additional through

    lanes and turning lanes; box culvert extension and installation;

    drainage improvements; and lighting and signalization

    upgrades.

    · All lanes are open through December 11.· Construction of the median along CR 714 from west of the Turnpike entrance to east of

    · The sidewalk along the south side of CR 714 between Berry Avenue and Mapp Road and between Martin Downs Boulevard and High Meadows Avenue is closed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the north side of CR 714 and cross at the signalized crosswalks at Berry Avenue, Palm City School Avenue, Sawgrass Villas Drive / Whispering Sound Drive and Mapp Road. This sidewalk closure is expected to be in place until late 2015.

    2. State Road 710 / Beeline Highway from east of the Florida East Coast Railway Crossing to east of SW Fox Brown Road

    Description: This 10-mile design/build project consists of widening the existing two-lane roadway to add two 1.5-mile passing lane segments, one in each direction. Other improvements include milling and resurfacing of the existing lanes and construction of new shoulders, guardrail installation, and drainage modifications.Cost/Completion: $6.92 million. Completion in early 2016.Traffic Impact:

    · Intermittent lane closures for the widening of SR 710 may occur between 7 a.m. Monday and 8 p.m. Saturday. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.

    · A 2-mile section of SR 710 east of the FEC Railway crossing is shifted south for widening work. This traffic shift is expected to continue through early 2016.

    3. I-95 Lighting Installation between Bridge Road and High Meadows Avenue

    Description: This 5.382-mile project includes installation of a new lighting system along both the northbound & southbound lanes of I-95 from north of CR 708 to south of High Meadows Avenue, and installation of eight pedestal mounted bridge poles on the bridge over the St. Lucie River.Cost/Completion: $2.8 million. Completion in summer 2016.Traffic Impact:

    · All lanes are open through December 11.

    4. I-95 Southbound Rest Area Improvements Project in Martin County

  • Description: Improvements consist of widening the concrete pavement of the truck parking lot; shoulder replacement from the diverge and merge points of the car and truck parking ramps to the truck parking lot; and highway lighting along with signing & pavement markings at the I-95 Southbound Rest Area in Martin County.Cost/Completion: $1.38 million. Completion is expected in early 2016.Traffic Impact:

    · The I-95 southbound shoulder at the Martin County rest area, located three miles south of State Road 714 (Exit 110), may be closed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. for asphalt repairs.

    5. I-95 Interchange at Kanner Highway (State Road 76 / Exit 101)

    Description: This 0.745-mile project includes widening Kanner Highway (SR 76) at the I-95 interchange, reconstructing the I-95 entrance and exit ramps, drainage, milling and resurfacing, signing & pavement markings, and signalization.     · One westbound lane of Kanner Highway will be closed intermittently Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for widening.

     

    6. Kanner Highway / State Road 76 from Salerno Road to Cove Road in Stuart

    Traffic Impact:

    · The north sidewalk of Kanner Highway between Salerno Road and Cove Road is closed for construction of a new business entrance. This sidewalk is expected to be closed through late 2015. Pedestrians should use the south sidewalk by crossing at Salerno Road or Cove Road.

    7. Kanner Highway / State Road 76 from Indian Street to Pomeroy Street in Stuart

    Traffic Impact:

    · One northbound lane of Kanner Highway will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for utility work.

    8. Stuart Christmas Parade along Monterey Road / State Road 714

    Traffic Impact:

    · The southbound lanes and turning lanes of Monterey Road between Kingswood Terrace and Ocean Boulevard will be closed Friday, December 4 between 3:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. for the lineup of floats and vehicles for the parade.

    ST. LUCIE COUNTY

    9. State Road A1A Bridge Rehabilitation over the FPL Discharge Canal in Jensen Beach

    Description: This 0.085-mile-long project includes replacing the existing concrete bridge deck and approach slabs, milling and resurfacing the roadway at the approach slabs, concrete spall repairs of the piles and pile caps, and installing a corrosion protection system to the piles and pile caps.Cost/Completion: $1.8 million. Completion in fall 2015.Traffic Impact:

  • · The speed limit has been reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph at the bridge until fall 2015.· One lane in either direction of A1A at the discharge canal will be closed intermittently

    Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.

    · The sidewalk at the bridge will be closed intermittently Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

    · The shoulders are closed for bicyclists. Shoulders will not open until fall 2015 when the project is completed.

    10. State Road 70 / Okeechobee Road and Jenkins Road Intersection in Fort Pierce

    Description: This .549-mile project in the City of Fort Pierce is expected to begin July 15. Work on this project includes widening the SR 70 and Jenkins Road intersection to provide additional through lanes and turning lanes, box culvert extension and installation work, drainage improvements, and lighting and signalization upgrades.Cost/Completion: $5.46 million. Completion is expected in spring 2017.Traffic Impact:

    · One lane in either direction of Okeechobee Road between I-95 and Kerr Street may be closed intermittently Sunday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. and Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

    · One lane in either direction of Jenkins Road to the north and south of the Okeechobee Road intersection may be closed intermittently Sunday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. and Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.

    · The sidewalk on the south side of Okeechobee Road from Jenkins Road east to Roylat Street is closed through early 2016. Pedestrians may cross at the signalized intersections at Jenkins Road and McNeil Road.

    · The sidewalk on the north side of Okeechobee Road from Jenkins Road west to the RaceTrac / Home Depot driveway entrance is closed through early 2016. Pedestrians may cross at the signalized intersections at Jenkins Road and Peters Road / Crossroads Parkway.

    · Advance Notice: Beginning Monday, December 14, the Okeechobee Road / State Road 70 driveway entrance just west of Jenkins Road to the Home Depot shopping center will be closed through Friday, December 18 for drainage work. Motorists should use the driveway entrances off Jenkins Road to access businesses during the closure.

    11. I-95 Northbound & Southbound Rest Areas in St. Lucie County

    Description: Improvements include repairs to the existing buildings and upgrading the power distribution at the I-95 northbound & southbound rest areas in St. Lucie County. The rest areas are located approximately two miles north of Orange Avenue (State Road 68 / Exit 131).Cost/Completion: $733,903. Completion is expected in early 2016.Traffic Impact:

    · All lanes are open through December 11. No traffic impacts are expected.

    INDIAN RIVER COUNTY

    12. I-95 (SR 9) from just north of State Road 60 (Osceola Boulevard/Exit 147) at Vero Beach to

    the Indian River/Brevard County LineDescription: I-95 is being widened from just north of State Road 60 to the Indian River/Brevard County line. Improvements in this 12.5-mile-long project include: adding one lane on I-95 in each direction; milling and resurfacing the existing lanes; signalization and lighting improvements; Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) improvements, including closed-circuit television cameras, Dynamic Message Signs and vehicle detectors; removal/replacement of the existing bridges over CR 512 (Fellsmere Road); construction of a noise barrier wall adjacent to the Encore Sunshine Travel RV Resort; and reconstruction of the interchange at CR 512, including the ramps and turn lanes. The design/build contract

  • started in May 2013. For information on this project, contact the Public Information Office at (772) 834-1298 or [email protected]/Completion: $50.6 million. Completion in late 2016.Traffic Impact:

    · Motorists should be alert for slow moving construction vehicles entering and exiting the travel lanes.

    · One lane in either direction of I-95 will be closed intermittently Sunday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for construction.

    · Southbound traffic on I-95 is shifted east to temporary lanes along the northbound side of I-95 in the following locations:

    o From the Brevard County line to south of CR 512 in Fellsmere.

    o From north of Mile Marker 151 to south of Mile Marker 149.

    o From Mile Marker 152 to Mile Marker 153.

    o From Mile Marker 153.5 to Mile Marker 154.5.

    13. U.S. 1 Lateral Ditch Restoration from south of 12th Street SE in Vero Beach to south of Davis Street in Sebastian

    Description: Eleven outfall ditches will be improved along U.S. 1 over the span of 18.82 miles. Improvements include clearing obstructions to flow, restoring ditch cross section areas, providing new culvert crossings, and stabilizing & placing sod on side slopes.Cost/Completion: $1.44 million. Completion in summer 2016.Traffic Impact:

    · All lanes are open through December 11. No traffic impacts are expected on this project.

     

    14. State Road 60 east of Florida’s Turnpike in Vero Beach

    Traffic Impact:

    · One lane in either direction of SR 60 east of Florida’s Turnpike at Mile Marker 3 will be closed Monday through Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for paving.

    15. State Road 60 west of 58th Avenue in Vero Beach

    Traffic Impact:

    · The eastbound right turn lane of SR 60 just west of 58th Avenue will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

    · The outside eastbound lane of SR 60 just west of 58th Avenue will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

    16. State Road 60 and County Road 512 Intersection in Vero Beach
