The Adventures of Ned and Nellie Ned was telling Nellie about his uncle Nate and his adventurous
life. Nate was unsure about his next career move. He was unde-cided if he would spend his life as a preacher or as a policeman. Ned mentioned to Nellie, “Nate decided on preaching, so he attended the local Bible College. Nate, after completing the first semester began to have second thoughts about his decision to preach. He thought he owed it to himself to enroll in the Police Academy and he did. Ned said, “Old Nate was really doing well and feeling good about his decision to consider becoming one of his hometown's finest. The time came for him to take the final test. Nate’s superi-or said to him, “Nate, when you become a policeman, what will you do when the time comes to disperse a crowd?” Ned said to Nellie, “It was that final question that tripped up Uncle Nate. Nate thought to himself, 'What should I do when the time comes to disperse a crowd?' Apparently, Nate’s preacher training and his police training began to intermingle. Nate said to the police chief, “This is how I would disperse a crowd. I would take up a contribution.”
