Bhopal’s daily Covid tally above 100

Chronicle Reporter, BhopalThe Covid-19 pandemic hassparked an unprecedentedwave of research in field of san-itizer and medicine. In this re-gard the students of BSSS Sci-ence department were workingon synthesis of Sanitizers (Al-coholic and non- alcoholic).

The specific corona virusthat causes Covid 19 is calledSARS-CoV-2. The SARS-CoV-2is a positive-stranded RNAviruses with a crown-like ap-pearance that can be observedunder an electron microscope. The virus gets its name fromLatin where Coronam is theterm for crown.

The RNA of the new coro-navirus SARS-CoV-2 is con-tained within an envelope – anouter fatty membrane andusually appears spherical, asseen under an electron micro-scope, with a crown or coronaof club shaped spikes on theirsurface.

The viral targets of alcohol-based hand sanitizers are pre-dominantly the viral envelope,if present, which is derivedfrom host lipid envelopes, theprotein capsid, which contains

and protects the genetic mate-rial, and the genetic materialitself

The students under theguidance of Dr. Vandana Yadav,Professor in Chemistry pre-pared various formulations foralcoholic and non-alcoholicsanitizers. They took help frome-journals and e-library fortheir research. The studentsfollowed WHO standards andused Ethanol and isopropanolfor their alcoholic sanitizer. They have prepared variousformulations by changing the

percentage of different ingre-dients. One of the alcoholicformulations consists ofethanol (70%), glycerine, alo-evera, rosewater and essentialoil like cinnamon oil, Tea treeoil, clove oil. Second alcoholicformulation comprises of iso-propanol (75%) with rosewaterand aloe-vera in varying com-position. In some formulationsthey have also used vinegarand now the formulations arein testing phase.

After the completion of thetask of sanitizing, the alcohol

In view of the increas-ing number of Coronacases, many states of thecountry have again put alockdown in Coronaaffected cities. Thesestates include UttarPradesh, Bihar,Maharashtra, WestBengal, Kerala,Karnataka, Assam,Nagaland. It is clear fromthese decisions taken byvarious states that thepublic does not seriouslyunderstand the coron-avirus crisis. Obviouslymore caution needs to betaken; otherwise the situ-ation may be explosive. Astrict lockdown has beenimplemented in UttarPradesh for more than 50hours. The lockdown, which started in UttarPradesh at 10 pm on July10, will continue till 5 amon Monday, 13 July. There are indicationsthat this will be extendedfor another 2 days. Therewill be a mini lockdowntwo days a week(Saturday and Sunday). The Karnataka govern-ment on Saturdayannounced the imposi-tion of a complete lock-down in Bengaluru cityand rural areas for aweek from July 14, amidrising cases of corona inthe state. Chief MinisterBS Yeddyurappa said in astatement that this stephas been taken on thebasis of the advice ofexperts, as the dailycorona cases in the stateare increasing rapidly.Assam’s civic committeeshave suggested increas-ing the lockdown in citiesfor the next two weeks.Health Minister of AssamHimanta Viswa Sarmasaid that the HealthDepartment is in favourof extending the lock-down for a week. A notifi-cation in this regard willbe issued on Monday.

In Madhya Pradeshalso, the way the situa-

tion of infection hasbecome serious for thelast two days, the districtadministration of Indoreand Bhopal have serious-ly considered the lock-down. In the administra-tion meeting held withdoctors on Sunday, con-cern was raised over theincreasing number ofpatients in Indore. Themeeting of prominentdoctors of Indore wascalled by the districtadministration at theResidency Kothi.Concern was raised inthis meeting on the newsituation created inIndore. The doctors saidin this meeting that inthe current situation, ifwe have to control thenumber of patients, thenlockdown should beimplemented onceagain. The proposal isthat the lockdown beimplemented for tendays in the city. After themeeting, CollectorManish Singh and MPShankar Lalwaniinformed that the disas-ter management com-mittee will meet onMonday in which thedecision about the lock-down will be taken. InBhopal too, the districtadministration is think-ing about the lockdownafter 102 cases came outin 1 day. In fact, the waynegligence was doneduring unlock one andtwo is the result of thelockdown in many partsof the country. Don’tknow why we are unableto understand the severi-ty of coronavirus evenafter so many days? Themost surprising thing isthat most of the peoplein the parts of the coun-try where the lockdownis being put up or thingsare being done, we haveto understand the seri-ousness of the crisis andmake a habit of living lifewith full caution.

More caution is needed

What does it take tobe happy? Money, fame or power? Well, all these options maylook lucrative to usbut to the one manwho had all of thesethree things, all of theabove options provedto be hollow andempty. And that manwas the last Emperor of China, Puyi, who witnessed the transformation ofa 2000-year-old Empire into aRepublic. He became the Emperor, the day he was only two years oldand lost his empire at the age of six;became a puppet Emperor of anoccupied Japanese territory at theage of 26 and again was deposedafter the end of Second World War.He spent his life as prisoner underUSSR as a war criminal. A life full ofroller coaster; born in glory but diedin distress. It was hard to say if hewas lucky or an exact opposite to theword.

Behind the walls of the ForbiddenCity, a small kid was ruling thepalace, though he didn’t rule China, after the revolution of 1912 but was afigurehead. Most of his life was doc-umented by his British tutor, SirRegiland Johnston who arrived inthe Forbidden City as Puyi’s tutorduring March 1919. President XuShichang believed the monarchywould eventually be restored, and toprepare Puyi for the challenges ofthe modern World, had hiredJohnston to teach political science, constitutional history and English toPuyi. Johnston was allowed only fivetexts in English to give Puyi to read. But he disregarded the rules, andtaught Puyi about World history witha special focus on British history.Johnston also told Puyi so much

about his native Scotland that Puyieventually expressed the desire tovisit the Scotland that his tutorspoke of with such pride and love.Besides history, Johnston taughtPuyi philosophy and about what hesaw as the superiority of Monarchiesto Republics.

As the only person capable ofcontrolling Puyi, Johnston had muchmore influence than his title of

English tutor. When the 14-year-oldPuyi had some western-style cloth-ing purchased to wear from a theatercompany, Johnston flew into a rage, saying that Puyi was wearing cheapclothing unworthy of an emperor, and had him buy expensive clothesfrom a western-style departmentstore. Under Johnston’s influence,Puyi started to insist that hiseunuchs address him as Henry andlater his wife Wanrong as Elizabeth.

Puyi began to speak Chinglish, amixture of Mandarin and Englishthat became his preferred mode ofspeech.

Puyi recalled of Johnston: “Ithought everything about him wasfirst-rate. He made me feel thatWesterners were the most intelligentand civilized people in the world andthat he was the most learned ofWesterners and Johnston had

become the major part of my soul”. Johnston was also the first to

argue that Puyi needed glasses, as hewas extremely near-sighted, andafter much argument with PrinceChun, who thought it was undigni-fied for an Emperor to wear glasses, finally prevailed. Johnston, whospoke fluent Mandarin, closely fol-lowed the intellectual scene inChina, and introduced Puyi to thenew-style Chinese books and maga-

zines, which so inspired Puyi that hewrote several poems that were pub-lished anonymously in New Chinapublications.

Under Johnston’s influence, Puyiembraced the bicycle as a way toexercise, cut his queue and grew afull head of hair, and wanted to go tostudy at Oxford. Johnston also intro-duced Puyi to the telephone, whichPuyi soon became addicted to;,phoning people in Beijing at randomjust to hear their voices on the otherend. Johnston also pressured Puyi tocut down on the waste and extrava-gance in the Forbidden City, notingthat all the eunuchs had to be fed.Johnston convinced Puyi that hecould open doors for himself and didnot need eunuchs standing idly allthe time by the main doors of thepalaces just to open them if heshould happen along. Puyi cut off hisqueue so he would look like aWestern gentleman and underJohnston’s advice embraced thebicycle as the best way to moveabout in the Forbidden City, retain-ing a lifelong enthusiasm for cycling, though it is doubtful that theeunuchs working as gardeners muchappreciated Puyi’s habit of ridingthrough the flowers.

Nevertheless, Puyi was the lastEmperor of China and he was thetwelfth and final emperor of theQing dynasty. Life is a story of alter-nate realities. It is more of a twoedged sword; it hardly matters whichway you face; it’s definitely going tohurt you. For Puyi ,he had everythingand ended having nothing. There aremany who had nothing but goteverything. Puyi’s life is a journey inreverse order. The end of a 2000-year-old Empire was sad tale of cor-rupted legacy of once upon a time agreat Empire.

NASA’s Psyche spacecraft, set tolaunch in August 2022, will travel toits target in the main asteroid beltbetween Mars and Jupiter underthe power of super-efficient electricpropulsion. This photo captures anoperating electric Hall thrusteridentical to those that will be usedto propel the Psyche spacecraft. This photo was taken at NASA’s JetPropulsion Laboratory in SouthernCalifornia on May 20, 2020 with aniPhone, through the thick windowof a vacuum chamber used to sim-ulate the environment of deepspace.

The thruster works by turningxenon gas, a neutral gas used in car headlights and plasma TVs, into xenonions. As the xenon ions are accelerated out of the thruster, they create thethrust that will propel the spacecraft. The xenon plasma emits a blue glow, seen here, as it operates. An observer in space traveling behind Psyche wouldsee the blue glow of plasma trailing behind the spacecraft. Solar arrays willprovide the electricity that powers the thrusters. Hall thrusters will be used forthe first time beyond lunar orbit, demonstrating that they could play a role insupporting future missions to deep space.

The AURA can beconsidered like theenergetic territory, orspiritual skin. An aurais something thatevery living organismhas. Some perceive itas a halo or aureole ofcolored energy, ema-nating from the body.It is a protective ener-getic boundary. Whenthere is damage to theaura, it affects theentire organism.Chronic and serious aura damage or insufficiency is usually caused by damagefrom the environment, such as abusive and unhealthy living, work situationsresulting in trapped emotions. Though aura problems can be disconcerting, they are both instructive and eminently fixable.

CHAKRAS are a series of energy centers in and outside of the physical body. They can be considered the bodies main energetic glands or organs. The sevenmajor chakras have specific colors that run up the vibrational spectrum. Thefirst base chakra is red, as you travel up the rainbow spectrum it goes to theseventh, violet. The colors have specific purpose, meaning and interpretations. The charkas can be easily read, healed, aligned, and cleansed. Chronic chakraproblems can signal health, mental- health, or endocrine imbalances, drugdamage, and or long standing acceptance of energy-diminishing contracts(cords, or attachment to others, and non-physical entities). Our sages and ancestors have always taught us torespect nature, we should exploit nature, not exploita-tion. Materialistic ideology broke this balance, sotoday, threats like climate change and global warmingare facing, only trees can save the environment fromthis crisis.

Neighbour said to me: Inwhat has exposed the fault linesbetween ruling allies, Shiv Senaand Nationalist Congress Party, the latter has walked off with achunk of Sena corporators inAhmednagar district. What hasriled the Shiv Sena further is thatthe dissidents have joined theNCP in the presence of deputychief minister Ajit Pawar inBaramati.

I said: The five corporators,Mudassar Sayyad, NandkumarDeshmukh, Kisan Gandhade,Vaishali Auti and NandaDeshmane, from the Parnermunicipal council inAhmednagar joined the NCP inPawar’s presence.

Neighbour said to me: Thesecorporators joined the NCP asthey were upset with the inter-nal politics in the Shiv Sena andthe attitude of the local leader-ship. Nilesh Lanke, NCP legisla-tor from Parner in Ahmednagarsaid he tried to dissuade them asthe NCP and Sena are both partof the government, but theyopened negotiations with the

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),after which we gave our consent. After all, the MVA’s fight is withthe BJP.

Lanke added that this couldnot be interpreted as accretionin the Shiv Sena’s ranks as thecorporators would remain partof the MVA as NCP members.

I said: However, the move hasupset the Shiv Sena. This is seri-ous as the Deputy Chief Ministerhas lured men from the ChiefMinister’s party, said formerShiv Sena MLA and ex-state leg-islative assembly deputy speak-er Vijayrao Auti.

In the 2019 assembly elec-tions, Auti, a three-term MLAfrom Parner, had been defeatedby Lanke, who is a former Shiv Sainik, who shifted to theNCP.

Neighbour said to me: TheShiv Sena and NCP share anoverlapping social base andpockets of support, especially inregions like WesternMaharashtra and Marathwada, where one party may grow at theexpense of the other.

Researchers at CarnegieMellon University have demon-strated that they can combineiPhone videos shot “in the wild”by separate cameras to create 4Dvisualizations that allow viewersto watch the action from variousangles, or even erase people orobjects that temporarily blocksightlines.

Imagine a visualization of awedding reception, wheredancers can be seen from asmany angles as there were cameras, and the tipsy guest who walked in front ofthe bridal party is nowhere to be seen.

The videos can be shot independently from a variety of vantage points, asmight occur at a wedding or birthday celebration, said Aayush Bansal, a Ph.D.student in CMU’s Robotics Institute. It also is possible to record actors in onesetting and then insert them into another, he added.

“We are only limited by the number of cameras,” Bansal said, with no upperlimit on how many video feeds can be used. Bansal and his colleagues pre-sented their 4D visualization method at the Computer Vision and PatternRecognition virtual conference last month.

per the DGP of UP issued guidelinesallowing them for high-risk fugitives? Moreover, if Dubey was without hand-cuffs then how did he snatched thegun from the policeman and why didhe choose to shoot at the police ratherthan surrender when he was sur-

Were the other occu-pants of the vehicle accompanyingVikas not injured on toppling? BeforeDube, his uncle and five other aides ofthe criminal were also encountered.By this way all witnesses were erasedand washed away but the driver intime of the fake encounter is still alive,if soon he will be found dead then thetimes for all political and police nexusin UP should be bajao thali, jalaodeep!. Bhopal, Monday, July 13, 2020 5World

Agencies, OttawaIndia has lodged a strong

protest with the Canadian TV regu-lator - Canadian Radio-Televisionand Telecommunications Com-mission (CRTC) against a local TVchannel for broadcasting a televi-sion show which incited violenceand hatred against India.

The objection was raised by theIndian High Commission in Cana-da about a program that wasbroadcasted by PTN24 channel, onApril 26, 2020.

According to the sources, theprogram in concern was a religiousprogram held annually as a tributeservice to militants killed duringterrorism in Punjab. It includes a“Sahaj Path”, reading of the holyGuru Granth Sahib, followed by aspeech from prominent membersof the Sikh community.

Sources reveal that thesespeeches were filled with hatredand incited violence against India.“Although the entire program wasfull of hateful content, speeches ofHarbhajan Singh and SantokhSingh Khela were particularly vitri-olic. Harbhajan Singh not onlyseemed supporting the act of ter-rorists but also claimed that theSikh Gurus in Punjab were aidingthe terrorists in their mission”, saidthe sources.

It added, “He even referred tothe violent action in 1984 at the

Sikh pilgrimage of Golden Temple, claiming that the terrorists insidewere able to kill many Indian sol-diers as they were fighting in thepath of the lord”.

The speeches were an attemptto glorify terrorism in Punjab thatwas responsible for the death ofthousands of innocent Sikhs. These speeches have hurt theemotions of those who have lostfamily members in the senselessviolence that prevailed in Punjabin the 1980s and early 90s.

Sources reveal that SantokhSingh Khela openly incited theSikh community by using phraseslike “we will kill the perpetrators ofinjustice”. Khela in his speech glo-rified the acts of terrorists likeBeant Singh and Satwant Singhwho assassinated former Indian

Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He justified the acts of terrorists

like Dilawar Singh and Ranjit Singhaccused of killing prominent Sikhpolitical leaders during terrorismin Punjab.

The comments of Khela havenot only hurt sentiments of the In-dian Sikh community but also con-stitute a crime under Section 264.1(1) of the Canadian Criminal Pro-cedure. He was an accused in the1986 conspiracy to hijack an Indi-an Airlines aircraft from New York, and was let off after 6 years whenthe conviction was overturned ontechnical grounds.

“The speeches were not onlylimited to the broadcast mediumbut were also shared widely on theofficial pages of the Channelthrough Facebook, thus exposingyoung children at an impression-able age to such hateful content”,said sources.

Sources in Indian High Com-mission in Canada said, “While theindividuals responsible for makingthese inflammatory and bigotedspeeches are culpable, ChannelPTN24 also stands in violation ofmultiple Canadian laws and basicpolicies of the CRTC.

Agencies, Hong KongHundreds of thousands of Hong

Kongers turned up over the week-end to vote in an unofficial two-day primary election held by thecity’s pro-democracy camp as itgears up to field candidates for anupcoming legislative poll.

The exercise is being held twoweeks after Beijing imposed asweeping national security law onthe semi-autonomous territory ina move widely seen as chippingaway at the “one country, two sys-tems” framework under whichBritain handed Hong Kong over toChina in 1997.

It was passed in response to last

year’s massive protests calling forgreater democracy and more po-lice accountability.

Throngs of people lined up atpolling booths in the summer heatto cast their vote despite a warningby Hong Kong’s constitutional af-fairs minister, Eric Tsang last weekthat the primaries could be inbreach of the new national securi-ty law, because it outlaws interfer-ence and disruption of duties bythe local government.

Organisers have dismissed thecomments, saying they just wantto hold the government account-able by gaining a majority in thelegislature.

was seen wearing a mask while vis-iting a military hospital near Wash-ington, D.C., on Saturday, the firsttime he did so on camera since thecoronavirus pandemic broke outin the country.

“I’ll probably have a mask,”Trump told reporters ahead of histrip to Walter Reed National Mili-tary Medical Center in Bethesda,Maryland, where he visited injuredsoldiers and medical workerstasked with containing the coron-avirus.

“I think when you’re in a hospi-tal especially in that particular set-ting, where you are talking to a lotof soldiers, people that in somecases just got off the operatingtable,” the president said. “I thinkit’s a great thing to wear a mask.I’ve never been against masks but Ido believe they have a time and aplace.”

Trump has been refusing towear a mask himself since the pan-demic broke out, citing his goodhealth and frequent negative testsfor the virus. “I have no problemwith a mask. I don’t think you needone when you’re tested all thetime, everybody around you istested, you’re quite a distance,” hesaid on Thursday.

Even Republican lawmakershave advised him to do so publiclyso as to curb the spread of the con-tagion.

Regretting the fact that the“simple lifesaving practice” ofwearing a mask has been politi-cized to showcase whether onesupports Trump or not, Republi-can Senator Lamar Alexander saidon June 30 that he had “suggested

the president should occasionallywear a mask even though there arenot many occasions when it is nec-essary for him to do so.”

Trump wore a mask behind thescene in late May during a visit to aFord factory in Michigan. “I didwear. I had one on before,” he toldreporters on camera at the plantwhen asked why he decided not towear a mask.

“But I didn’t want to give thepress the pleasure of seeing it,”Trump said, showing the reportersa mask with a presidential seal onit that he said was the one he wore.

Australia has checked the spreadof the COVID-19 except in the cityof Melbourne, which has witnesseda recent surge in cases.

At present, a 14-day quarantineperiod is being mooted similar tothe one the West Indies players, who are currently involved in athree-day Test series against Eng-land.

Notably, West Indies players hadspent 14 days in quarantine upontheir arrival in the United Kingdom. The Pakistan contingent are alsounder quarantine currently sincearriving in England ahead of thecommencement of their Test seriesfrom August 5.

“We have confirmed that tour. InDecember we will be coming. Wejust hope the number of quarantinedays get reduced a bit because wedon’t want the players to go all thatfar and sit in hotel rooms for twoweeks. It is very, very depressingand disappointing,” Ganguly told

India Today. “And, as I said, Aus-tralia and New Zealand have beenin good positions except Mel-bourne.

So from that point of view we willbe going there and hopefully thequarantine days will be less and wecan get back to cricket,” he added.

India are scheduled to play threeODIs, four Tests and three T20Is inAustralia in December-January.

While India’s previous tour ofAustralia in 2018-19 saw Kohli’steam win the Test series Down Un-der for the first time in their history,Ganguly expects a tougher chal-lenge for the side but believes thatTeam India still stand a chance be-cause of how good they have beenover the past few years.

“It is going to be a tough series. Itis not going to be what it was twoyears back. It is going to be a strongAustralia but our team is as good.We have the batting, we have thebowling.

We just need to bat better,’ for-mer India captain said.

‘You know the best team over-seas bat well. When we were so suc-cessful in England, in Australia, inPakistan we were getting 400-500-600 in Test matches. I said that to Vi-rat as well,” he added.

Notably, the likes of David Warn-er and Steve Smith missed the pre-vious series due to their suspen-sions and are expected to play cen-tral roles for the hosts in the up-coming series, with the batting unitfurther strengthened by the addi-tion of Marnus Labuschagne.

Ganguly believes it will be a‘milestone’ in Kohli’s captaincytenure, if India can repeat the feat of2018/19 series.
