Set in the serenity of Ibrahimpur, Cantonment, Dhaka, Alpha has a kitchen to brag about.

The BackstoryStandards in the Bangladeshi food industry have

always been low, but recent stories on food

adulteration and total disregard for health and hygiene

standards have taken it to a level where people have

become normalized by it. Out of the sheer discontent

from the way things were, Asif and Sayem, two fresh

graduates from IBA-DU, set out to do something about

it. Their vision is to disrupt the industry with one word:

Excellence. Excellence in taste, quality, and service.

With restaurants cropping up like mushrooms all over

the city, these two decided to enter a sector where the

room for innovation is the most – catering. Over the

past century, there has been no innovation in the

catering industry even though many new markets have

emerged. With fresh ideas and modern technology at

their disposal, the founders dream of building a

company that will bring global standards to a local

industry.

The journey will not be an easy one, but Asif and

Sayem are driven by the idea that life is all about

making an impact, adding value to people’s lives. And

what better way to bring change than through food!

What Is Alpha?

Separate freezers and chillersCross-contamination is the one of the most

important factors when it comes to food poisoning.

We have eliminated this by storing meat, fish,

vegetables, dairy products, and semi-cooked

meals separately.

Color-CodinGCompliant to HAACP, we use color-coded cutting

boards and knives to reduce the risk of cross-

contamination. Even our trashcans are color-

coded to ensure proper waste-disposal and

recycling.

Hygienic PracticesWearing hairnets and washing hands is

mandatory for anyone who enters the kitchen.

Anyone handling food must also wear gloves.

Safety PracticesWith our gas cylinders safely placed 40 feet away

from the burners, we ensure minimal risk to our

attendees. Worker’s safety is our top priority which

is why we have installed fire-fighting equipment

and conduct regular training.

Security PracticesWe have installed security cameras and

designated lock-and-key access to ensure that the

food we serve is free from any sort of tampering.

Grameen Telecom Trust (GTT) wanted rich

Bangla dishes. Alpha customized its menu for

the Nobel Laureate himself and gained an

ardent fan. GTT is now one of Alpha’s regular

NewsCred’sBuffet Office Lunch

As one of the leading software companies in the

country, NewsCred wanted nothing but the best

for their employees. Alpha broke the

stereotypical office lunch by offering continental

and oriental cuisines served buffet-style in chic

chafing dishes.

Alpha’s vision of turning Deepto TV’s canteen

into a cafeteria is what resonated most with the

employees there. Every day, 7 days a week,

more than 500 meals are served.

IBA, University Of Dhaka’sGrand Event

The biggest inconvenience when eating

packaged food at a mass event of 2500 people

is the inability to use hands when eating. Alpha

solved this by serving bite-sized chicken pieces

with disposable cutleries at IBA’s Golden

Jubilee Celebration. Guests highly appreciated

the thoughtful menu.
