Pastor Jason Coplen’s Notes Ephesians: Finding Your ID in Christ Proper Footwear is Essential November 11th, 2018 Ephesians 6.12-15 12 For we do not wrestle against ϐlesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand ϐirm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. Ephesians 6.12-15 What are these “shoes?” What are they for? What does it mean for us to have the proper footwear? Welcome to Crosspointe! We are glad you are here to worship with us today. Please stop by the Guest Services kiosk in the lobby to receive a small gift—our way of saying thank you for coming by. 1. We are ______________. (1 Corinthians 16.13; 1 Peter 5.8) 2. We Stand ________. (1 Corinthians 15.58; Galatians 5.1) 3. We ______________. (Ephesians 1.11-12; Hebrews 12.14) Do you have the proper footwear? On Your Own or with Your Family Can you think of a time when you did not have the right footwear for a speci ic event? How did that affect you? What are some ways that Christians should be “ready” for the battle? Peace with God is something that we talk about a lot in the church. Look up the following verses and discuss them or journal about them. What do they tell us about having peace with God? Romans5.1;Philippians4.7;Colossians3.15;Romans16.20) Where do you need to stand irm in your life? How can the Gospel of peace help you to remain irm in that area? Where are some places that you feel compelled to advance the message of peace with God? Ask others to pray for you in the coming weeks so that you can be bold enough to carry that message with you.
