Blurt
Blurt is a music magazine featuring artists similar to
what is in NME magazine, but just presented in a different style. I think the magazine is mainly targeted at teenagers, as the magazine presents it’s self to have young and hip style, e.g.
by having a variety of text
settings, like on the wonk.

Blender
Blender was launched in 2001 by the lad-mag “Maxim”. The sort of people that are likely to read this magazine are maxims existing fan base who are mainly “Lads”, as it keeps some of the features of Maxim, such as sometimes having provocative looking females on the front. They may also read the magazine because as has a variety of genres in it. However this magazine would also appeal to girls who like the artists featured on the front, e.g. girls may be more likely to enjoy Kelly Clarkson’s music than boys. Blender magazine is also currently the 4th most popular music magazine in the USA.

Fader
Fader magazine mainly focus’s on
hip-hop, independent rock, pop and
also dance music. It was the first
printed publication to be released on
iTunes this would probably appeal
to it s main audience of older teens/young adults.

Vibe
Vibe was Launched in 1993 by Quincy Jones, it is a monthly magazine which focus’s on hip-
hop and R&B. I think this magazine has a mostly young target
audience as it is a whole network, not just magazine, but also involves
websites such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace ect. Which are stereotypically websites which teenagers user.

Rolling Stone
Rolling stone is a magazine which I think is aimed at slightly older people as it talks about national affairs/ politics as well as music, this may appeal most to someone in their 20’s-30’s as they are most likely to know about this due to more education e.g. university, but also take an interest in the music. According to the website it has a total current circulation of 1,476,399.

Spin
Spins magazine contains a mixture
of music, but mainly rock. I think the people who buy this
magazine are likely to be teenagers- 30
year olds, as it has both new bands as well as bands from when the magazine first came out 25
years ago.

Clash
Clash is new magazine which only launched in 2008 it contains a very mixed style which alternates
between genres like modern rock/ pop and also hip-hop/ R&B. As well as music it also features film & fashion. This wide mixture of music creates a demographic of mainly between 15-34 creating a
circulation of around 40,000.
