In the Midst of a Changing Landscape:

Changing Water into Wine

THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE

Biological Father/Daughter:  

Living in same home, parents married (Happily or not)

Living in the same home, parents divorced.Living in the same home, mother died when child

was young.

Living in different homes (Divorced, father involved).

Lived in different homes (Divorced, father not involved when daughter young) (Reestablishing a relationship as adult child).

Step parent, lived in same home

Step parent, lived in same home, adopted child.

THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE

Father and or Daughter Caregiver:

Wife/mother recently deceased

Wife/mother still alive, but..

Wife/mother ill Father ill

FATHER / DAUGHTER RELATIONSHIP

Is it an easy relationship? Is it strained? Is this retreat a way you hope to

strengthen the relationship? Whose idea was it to attend this

retreat? What was the reception of the other

party? How well do you know each other as

people?

DADS:

You can only do so much.

We’re expected to be the Messiah. ( FYI – you’re not )

Let God do something

Let God do EVERYTHING

DAUGHTERS:

You are special and gifted

You are loved by God.. ...and your father will agree

How do you celebrate this? It won’t just happen – you have to schedule

and plan and do the celebration

How is your daughter special and gifted in

ways she is not aware?

DADS:

Listen to God –

...and speaking of mom,

DAUGHTERS

The world is constantly telling women that we aren’t good enough.

Unseen, unsought, unpursued, which leads us to believe that we are unworthy.  (Satan)

Unworthy of what? What’s a girl to do?

SACRED SCRIPTURE EXPOSES THE LIE !

“Try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the fruitless works of darkness;

Rather expose them, for it is shameful even to mention the things done by them in secret.

Everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that becomes visible is light.

Therefore, it says: ‘Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.’” (Eph. 5:10-14)

Abide in “The Word.”

FOLLOW THE ONE WHO DESIRES YOU

The world will call you to reject Christ, Church, ... Rejection -> Alienation -> Condemnation ->

Domination

Not what he wants you to do… Rather what he wants you to be.

IT TAKES TWO Mary did not do the miracle …

..but she was an essential part of it

It takes both people: It takes both sets of gifts…To see the miracle.

IT TAKES TWO (YOU & YOUR DAD) Some things we do are big and great. Some are small and (seemingly)

insignificant. It takes both acts…

you?

Satan tells us that we aren’t worthy. God tells us that we are.

Satan strikes at our heels, at our hearts, and at our souls.

God invites us to love

Spend time with Him (Prayer). Try to develop a personal relationship with

Him… You will know what He is calling you to be.

“Peak experiences:” At some point something happens What was before - is different after.

Does this not show that the Spirit changes those in whom he comes to dwell and alters the whole pattern of their lives?

With the Spirit within them, it is quite natural for people

who had been absorbed by the things of this world

to become entirely other-worldly in outlook,

and for cowards to become men and women of great courage.

There can be no doubt that this is what happened to the Disciples.
