Principals Message
Bathurst Excursion Last Wednesday our Yrs 5 & 6 students were joined by Boolaroo and Teralba PS on their three day excursion to Bathurst. The students experienced some fantastic sights on their trip and I have enjoyed hearing all their wonderful stories about the many great activities. Mrs Clarke reported excellent behaviour and participa-tion from all students on the trip. Congratulations Yrs 5 & 6.
Oakvale Farm On Tuesday 28th November our K/1 students will join with Teralba P.S for an ex-cursion to Oakvale Farm. Mrs O’Neill and Mrs Greig will accompany our children on this trip which I’m sure will be a very exciting experience for all involved. Per-mission notes and money need to be received at the school office no later than Friday 24th November.
Enrolments 2018 Reminder At this time of the year we are looking at our class organisations for 2018. In a small school setting the difference of one or two children can make a huge differ-ence to how we form our classes. I ask that if you know of anyone who is intend-ing to enrol a student/s at Fassifern PS for next year and is yet to do so that they contact the school office immediately. I also ask that if your child is not going to continue at our school that you also let us know immediately. This will enable me to give parents timely information on class structures and the teachers assigned for next year.
Reports Teachers are currently finalising assessments and preparing to write Semester 2 reports. These reports will be distributed to the students on Friday 8th December.
Library To help begin the stocktake process we ask that all overdue Library books be re-turned as soon as possible. The students can return them on any day to Mrs Grieg or Mrs Gibson.
End of Year Events It is lining up to be a very busy end to our school year. This Friday night 17th No-vember the P&C are holding a Trivia Night. The event is at the Royal Toronto Yacht Club 6.30pm for 7.00pm start. Week 9 will see our Year 6 Farewell on the night of Tuesday 5th December, Presentation Day Thursday 7th December and the P&C Christmas Event on the night of Friday 8th December. In Week 10 we also have our PBL Rewards Day on Wednesday 13th December and “Ice School Musi-cal” Ice Skating Show on Thursday 14th December. As you can see, we still have many events to come before Friday 15th December, the last day of the 2017 school year for the students.

Star of the Week–
Star of the Week - Angelina Lobien
Angelina is a quiet achiever, who follows our school expectations consistently and can be trusted to work cooperatively with other students. She was a pleasure to take on our latest excursion to Bathurst. Angelina engaged with all aspects of the camp and her behaviour was excellent. She could be relied on to act in a mature man-ner. Angelina interacted positively with both Fassifern students and students from the other schools. It was great to see her open up and let her personality shine while we were away. Well done Angelina!
Bathurst Excursion
What a trip! Stage 3 students, Mrs Hitchcock and I had such a busy, fun-filled and informative excursion travelling to Katoomba, Jenolan Caves, Bathurst Goldfields and Hartley Historical Village. The first day started off very wet and miserable and by the time we reached Echo Point the temperature gauge had only reached 13 degrees. However that didn't dampen the student's excitement. Scenic World was enjoyed by all, even if the world's steepest railway was much more thrilling than we were expecting. Then we travelled down the winding road to Jenolan Caves where we were escorted through the Lucas Cave by our guide. We saw some incredible rock formations and experienced how dark it would have been when the caves were first discovered. On Thursday we spent the day experiencing many different aspects of life on the gold fields in the 1850s guided by Uncle Merv and Sara. Some students were even lucky enough to find some gold by panning. That afternoon we travelled to the Motor Racing Museum where we saw some fascinating cars and other racing memorabilia. We finished the night with line dancing and a disco. Finally, on Friday we travelled to Hartley Historical Village before beginning the long trip home. Well done to all who attended the excursion. As always, Fassifern students demonstrated our positive, respectful behaviour to others at all times.
