FIGURE DRAWING
Fashion Figures for Beginners Tutorial (start at 35 seconds)
DRAWING FIGURES
• You will need a pencil
• Sketch very lightly (do not want bold,
dark lines)!
DRAWING FIGURES
Start by
drawing the
head and
neck of
your model.
Next, make
a trapezoid
to form the
mid-region
(shoulders
and waist).
Your hips
should be
about the same
width as your
shoulders.
Create a
pentagon with
the center
groin line.
Connect the
hips to the
knees. The
knees are
typically
slightly less
wide than
the hips.
Connect the
knees to the
ankles. The
ankles
should be
more
narrow than
the knees.
Create a
small box
under the
ankles for
the feet. Use
the entire
box for heels,
less for other
shoes.
Draw one
circle on
each
shoulder.
Draw a long
narrow
rectangle
under the
circles.
Draw two
more long,
narrow
rectangles
to form the
lower arms
and hands.
• You will need a pencil or dark pen
• Sketch so that it forms darker, more
intense/bold lines – but not too dark!
• You will be sketching/coloring
clothing over the top of this sketch.
DRAWING FIGURES
Round out
the features
to appear
less edgy
and more
human-like.
Add any
necessary
curves.
• You will need colored pencils,
crayons, or markers to finish your
sketches!
