Antonio Lopez was infl uenced by everyday life. Always one to draw from a live model, he captured the energy, movement, personality, sex appeal and gestural nuances of his subject. Everyday people from all walks of life, some of whom later went on to become celebrities in their own right, posed for and inspired his art. Pat Cleveland, Jerry Hall, Grace Jones, Jessica Lange and Tina Chow were some of the many models and muses who posed for Antonio and were later a ectionately referred to as Antonios Girls.

Lopezs infl uences included not only masters like Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Giovanni Boldini, but inspiration from movies, music, dance and politics. He surrounded himself with creative people and references, and from his home base in New York, constantly traveled to style capitals Paris, London and Tokyo. Antonio created an authentic and intimate experience with the viewer because of his careful observation, interaction and immersion into di erent worlds. This was ultimately refl ected and expressed in his artwork, which connects and invites the viewer in.

The section of the exhibition devoted to Antonio Lopez will cover three decades of his extraordinary and immense body of work from the 60s, 70s and 80s.Balcony Cases
