Denim is regarded as the “King of Fashion”. Since its appearance hundred years ago, the everlasting styles are embraced with new materials and technology into a variety of designs. The course provides students an introduction to the world of denim, from history, material knowledge and classification, design and trend to production.
A visit to denim factory would be arranged for an understanding of the manufacturing process. On completion of the course, students would be able to understand the design and development of denim and be able to experiment with basic denim design techniques and material handles.

Established in 1993, Hong Kong Institution of Textile and Apparel (HKITA) aims to maintain and improve the academic and professional standards of its members by organizing courses, forums and seminar, and publish professional journal and newsletter; to strengthen the communications among the professional groups of textile and garment manufacturing, dyeing and finishing throughout the world, and investigate methods for improvement of the industry, so as to enhance the competitiveness of the industry and to prosper the economy of Hong Kong.
Mr. Eddy YuenEddy is currently the Managing Director of Delta Global Sourcing Ltd., he is a Member of Fashion Industry Training Advisory Committee, which is set up by the Education Bureau on industry to serve as a platform for stakeholders to put the Qualifications Framework into implementation. He’s also the CEO of Tarrant Apparel Group USA (publicly traded listed on Nasdaq) from 2001 – 2003. He has been awarded fellowship from Textile Institute in the United Kingdom and Hong Kong Institution of Textiles and Apparel.

Mr. Spike NgaiSpike Ngai, being an expert in textile industry, serves as the Manager, Technical Marketing, Supply Chain Marketing Asia for Cotton Incorporated. Mr. Ngai currently serves as the Honorary Treasurer of The Hong Kong Association of Textile Bleachers, Dyers, Printers and Finishers, the Honorary Secretary of the HKITA and the board member of the Textile and Clothing Training Board of Vocational Training Council. He is also the member of the Board of Trustee of the Society of Dyers and Colourists in UK, a Chartered Colourists and Associate of the Society of Dyers and Colourists, a Chartered Textile Technologist and Associate of the Textile Institute, a Member of the HKITA, a Senior Member of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, a Full Member of Hong Kong Computer Society and a Member and Certified Technologist of Australian Computer Society.
Mr. Michael LamMichael is the Marketing Director of Advance Denim and he has over 20 years sales and marketing experience in denim industry. He is also representing the company to work with the Denim City and Jeans School in Amsterdam as well as Kingpins Show in New York, Europe and Hong Kong.
Mr. Tommy LiTommy has been working in the denim field for over 10 years, and started his own brand NI-MES in 2014, providing custom-made services and workshops. Clients include Uniqlo, Levis, LaneCrawford and CK Jeans. The company also runs a small denim-wash laundry with a focus on "Wash in Hong Kong".
