Fascial Connections and Acupuncture Under the leadership of Lynn Pearce Wednesday 22 nd May 2013 2pm8pm Cost £150 including light refreshments Open to physiotherapists who have completed a basic acupuncture foundation course (limited places) This oneday course looks at the apparent similarities between the Tendino Muscular Meridians (from Chinese Medicine practice) and the theory and structure of the Anatomy Trains approach to myofascial linkage within the body. This is a chance to think about using your acupuncture in a much more dynamic way. The speaker Lynn Pearce is a Chartered Physiotherapist and Licensed Acupuncturist. She runs a number of courses, from Foundation level, through to various CPD days. She is also employed by Coventry University on their modular Masters in Acupuncture. Her interest lies in applying Chinese Medical Theory to western diagnosis and formulating treatments that blend the two approaches make sense and are useable by therapists utilising acupuncture. The course content Overview of 'what' the meridians may represent Discuss the binding sites or 'stations' – areas of tension/structural gathering of tissue which if released can affect a much larger area and change function. Give an overview of the TendinoMuscular meridians or Sinew Meridian and Anatomy Trains. Explore the common ground between these two systems, using acupuncture to release these tight areas. Offer a new approach to treatment – notably in effecting large areas and patterns of dysfunction quickly, and allowing points distal to the areas being worked on with manual therapy to be used as an adjunct to treatment.

Cost  -‐  £150  including  light  refreshments

Open  to  physiotherapists  who  have  completed  a  basic  acupuncture  foundation  course  (limited  places)

This  one-‐day  course  looks  at  the  apparent  similarities  between  the  Tendino-‐Muscular  Meridians  (from  Chinese  Medicine  practice)  and  the  theory  and  structure  of  the  Anatomy  Trains  approach  to  myofascial  linkage  within  the  body.  This  is  a  chance  to  think  about  using  your  acupuncture  in  a  much  more  dynamic  way.

The  speaker

Lynn   Pearce   is   a   Chartered   Physiotherapist   and   Licensed   Acupuncturist.

The  course  content

• Overview  of  'what'  the  meridians  may  represent  • Discuss  the  binding  sites  or  'stations'  –  areas  of  tension/structural  gathering  of

tissue  which  if  released  can  affect  a  much  larger  area  and  change  function.  • Give  an  overview  of  the  Tendino-‐Muscular  meridians  or  Sinew  Meridian  and

Anatomy  Trains. • Explore  the  common  ground  between  these  two  systems,  using  acupuncture

to  release  these  tight  areas.  • Offer  a  new  approach  to  treatment  –  notably  in  effecting  large  areas  and

patterns  of  dysfunction  quickly,  and  allowing  points  distal  to  the  areas  being  worked  on  with  manual  therapy  to  be  used  as  an  adjunct  to  treatment.
