ANALYSIS OF FEEDBACK FROM STAKE HOLDERS Feed Back from School Principals & Mentors

Immediately after the internship programme of B.Ed students, feed back from the headmasters and mentors were collected about the performance of the student teachers and their preparation for the internship. Analysis of the responses revealed that the overall performances of student teachers were rated as very good to fair. They positively commented on the participation of student teachers in school activities, discipline and interaction skills. Suggestions for improvement include need for programmes that develop extra reading habits among students and the habit of regular news paper reading. Also, it was suggested that before internship programme, if the student teachers are asked to compulsorily observe the school practices and the classes of mentors, the gap between theory and practice can be reduced.

The staff council discussed these suggestions and the programme ‘Finishing school’ will serve the purpose of extra reading and regular news paper reading habits among students and the discussion in the reading corner conducted weekly will do the same purpose. As the revised syllabus include observation of school practice, that suggestion was also considered.

The comments were discussed in the staff council and a detailed analysis of the syllabus for both B.Ed and M.Ed courses was recommended by collecting feed back from teacher educators of various institutions.
