Rivers Edge Convention Center10 4th Ave. S. St. Cloud, MN
Every year, the Central MinnesotaFarm Show provides an opportunity forproducers to gather and evaluate differ-ent ways to improve their farming op-erations.
On Feb. 23-25, area farmers willonce again gather for the 2016 show atthe Rivers Edge Convention Center inSt. Cloud, Minn.
This is the second year the showwill provide seminars throughout eachday. The objective of each presentationis so attendees may gain insight intobettering their farm, given certain cir-cumstances.
Our goal is to provide added valueto the farm show, Bernie Quist said.Weve coordinated seminars that willtouch on a theme for each day, includ-ing marketing, risk management andpro tability.
Quist has been a member of theagriculture committee of the St. CloudChamber for more than 30 years, help-
ing coordinate the Central MinnesotaFarm Show one of the areas largestagricultural events.
Each seminar will take place at10:30 a.m. and then again at 1:30 p.m.,allowing producers the opportunity toattend while also visit with vendorsthroughout the day. All presentationswill provide time for interactive con-versation.
Tuesdays two seminars will fo-cus on risk management Carryingthe load: Is your equipment t for theroad? and Biosecurity on the farm:Keeping a healthy and safe environ-
ment. These presentations will highlightrisks for the farm that could create ma-
jor costs to the producer, Quist said.Minnesota State Patrol Of cer
Steve Krueger will speak of the rulesand regulations of moving product toand from the farm, while a panel of in-dividuals from different sectors of ani-mal agricultural will discuss their expe-riences with managing biosecurity risk.
The panel will allow attendees tohear about different situations, but alsohave time for questions and answers,Quist said. We want to be able to ad-dress the issues that are on the mind ofour guests.
The following day will encompass
market outlooks and pro tability.Kristie Van Ahn-Kjeseths presen-
tation, More Yield-More Pro t: Grainand livestock market outlook, will en-compass the current markets and howproducers can best strategize for suc-cess.
Presented by Ag Resources Con-sulting, It all starts in the dirt, will
discuss the choices and opportunityavailable to build soil fertility andmaintain soil health.
Producers will learn more aboutthe down and dirty to maximizeyields, Quist said.
Only one seminar will be availableon Thursday Planning your legacy. This presentation is a panel discussionon how to best plan for transition andbusiness succession.
The speakers will provide steps, insights and strategies for successfulfarm transition, Quist said.
With each year, the seminars take
on a larger presence at the farm show;purposefully adding valuable informa-tion to the show, complimenting theservices and resources offered by ven-dors.
The presentation topics were se-lected based on attendee surveys andwhat producers felt were most impor-tant to learn more about, said Quist.
Any of these presentations canfall under a different theme, but we feltthese were most important to our audi-ence, she said. The seminars create agreater reason to attend the show, withthe intent to expand the knowledge of individuals to better their farm.
A schedule of the daily seminarscan be found on page 12.

Gilman Co-op Creamerymay have a new retail store, but they continue to provide avariety of services to farmersincluding, marketing GradeA milk and selling feed, farmsupplies, equipment andfertilizers.
They still get a qualityproduct for a fair market price, said Adam Bonovsky, managerof Gilman Co-op Creamery.
Gilman Co-op Creamerywill showcase some of whatthey have to offer during theCentral Minnesota Farm Showon Feb. 23-25 at the RiversEdge Convention Center in St.Cloud, Minn.
Some of the key itemsthe co-op will be featuringat the show this year areskidloader attachments, AgriSpeed Hitches and their latestproduct, a litter tiller.
Theyre quality productsevery farmer should have, said Tina Peschl, marketingspecialist for Gilman Co-opCreamery.
The skidloaderattachments, which are a bigseller for the co-op, will be onspecial at the show.
We work with VirnigManufacturing out of Rice,Minn., and Messer Repair andFabricating out of Sauk Centre,Minn. They are the best madeattachments on the market ata good price, Bonovsky said. Its a quality product and wesell a lot of them.
The Agri Speed Hitcheswill also be on special.
Theyre so simple to usewith one person, Peschl said. Its easy on the back, you
dont have to get out of thetractor and it saves time, whichin turn saves money.
However, the new itemon the lot will be a litter tiller, which spreads, levels andaerates the bedding to removeunwanted excess ammonia andmoisture.
Its used a lot on poultryfarms and allows farmers toreuse the litter, Bonovskysaid. Its an upcoming productfor the poultry industry.
Although there are avariety of services currentlyprovided to all their customers,Gilman Co-op Creamery wasoriginally founded by mainlydairy farmers on April 10,1923.
Since then, they haveexpanded their customer basis.
Were basically servingall farmers and even peoplethat live in town, Bonovskysaid.
Less than a year ago on
April 10, 2015, the co-opopened their new retail storewith just under 10,000 squarefeet of space.
Our farmers werechanging, so we had to changeto meet their needs, Peschlsaid.
The new retail storehas everything from farmequipment and supplies, tires, hydraulic hoses, hardware, clothing and even groceries.
The list goes on and on,Bonovsky said. Were like afull service center.
Custom ground livestockfeed, custom grain drying androasting grain is another largepart of the co-op.
Thats our bread andbutter, Bonovsky said. Werecurrently No. 4 in the nation forfeed sales for ADM AllianceNutrition.
The products they sellhave provided success for theirco-op, but for Bonovsky, theircustomer service is what hasreally made them successful.
Thats what sets us apartfrom others, and thats whatwe pride ourselves on, hesaid. Our customers are soimportant to us.
For Peschl the farm showwill allow them to speak withtheir customers and potentialcustomers.
We love seeing the oneswe know, and we are lookingforward to meeting new
people, Peschl said. Werehere to help anyway we can.

In the last couple of years, soil health has come to theforefront in the literature, as a revolutionary concept toprotect and build soil; but little has been provided on thepractical level to implement these practices. This sessionwill attempt to lay out the principles of soil health andprovide information on how to design a strategy to improvethe soil health on your farm. From soil testing, cover cropsto crop response; this sessions goal is to help producersmake informed decisions when examining these practices.

FreeportTell us about yourself and your farming background. I milk 40 cows withmy son, Andrew. Hes been helping me since he graduated high school. I talk to as many people as I can.If its something that deals with my dairy, I try to stop. What are three things you like to do when you are at the show? I like to visitwith friends. I also like to look at new equipment in a warm environmentand visit with dealers that I do business with and see what they have thatsnew. How does the Central Minnesota Farm Show rate against other showsyou attend? This is one that I rarely miss because its in the winter and I havemore time. What is something you are looking forward to seeing at this years farmshow?I will be looking at different cow mats. The show is more for research forthings I might want to incorporate into my dairy down the road. Ive alwaysbeen aggressive with new technology. For example, Ive had a TMR since

The Nuhn Lagoon Crawler is an amphibious vehicledesigned for agitating lagoons.
The wheels are able to drop down, giving the vehicle roughly 5 feet of groundclearance. The unit then drives itself into a lagoon, where it turns into an agitation boat.
When in the lagoon, the Lagoon Crawler is powered by a quad port, Nuhn HeaderSeries manure pump. 10000+GPM volumes are used to maneuver the pontoon
through the lagoon and agitate the solids from the bottom. The Nuhn LagoonCrawler does not need a priming system.
Once the lagoon is emptied, the four wheels are lowered and themachine is able to drive itself out of the lagoon.
