WHEN WILL PUNTA UMBRÍA DUATHLON EUROPEAN CHAMIONSHIPS BE
HELD?
Punta Umbría will host the 2020 Duathlon European Championships from the 6th to the 8th
of March 2020.
• Friday, 6th of March:
o Parade of Nations
o Opening Ceremony
• Saturday, 7th of March:
o European Age Groups Sprint Championship (drafting race)
o European Junior Championship
o European Elite & U23 Championship
• Sunday, 8th of March:
o European Age Groups Standard Championship (NON drafting race)
o European ParaTriathlon Championship
o Closing ceremony, Age Group and ParaTriathlon ceremonies

ABOUT PUNTA UMBRÍA
WHAT ABOUT THE WEATHER IN MARCH?
In October, average temperatures are between 12 ºC at night and 18 ºC in daytime. Punta
Umbría is a perfect tourist destination in March to enjoy the beaches and visit the main
tourist attractions of the province of Huelva. There are few probabilities of rain and wind is
not expected.

HOW TO GET TO PUNTA UMBRÍA?
By plane: Seville and Faro are the closest airports. We will inform you shortly about transfers.
By train: There are many daily and frequent connections from Madrid to Seville and Huelva.

By bus: There are daily connections from Madrid to Seville and Huelva.
By car: you can drive to Huelva and Punta Umbría from the:
• Northwest: A66 highway
• Centre: coming from and through Madrid
• Southeast: to Andalucía and then straight forward to Huelva and Punta Umbría
• Southwest: from Portugal
WHERE CAN I STAY?
The official hotel, Barceló Resort, will offer special rates during the event (a 15 % discount)
WHERE CAN I RENT A CAR?
One possibility to enjoy one of the most touristic areas of Huelva, such as the ‘Rías Bajas’,
is renting a car. More information soon.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
PROCESS
1. AG athletes will be registered through their National Federations (NFs) and by the
designated AG Team Manager.
2. AG athletes need to contact their National Federation for further information.
3. In case an athlete is not able to get in touch with his/her National Federation, he/she
should send a mail to [email protected]
4. Any athlete who is participating in more than 1 event will need to be registered
separately in each event by his/her NF.
5. NFs are to collect the entry fees from athletes. No athlete shall pay the LOC directly.
Registration process closes on the 23rd of February.
ENTRY FEES
• Sprint Duathlon 130 €
• Standard Duathlon 140 €
• Both Events 216 € (-20 %)
CAN I RACE IN TWO EVENTS?
Yes, as long as you comply with ETU specifications. For each event, you will be given a
finisher T-shirt and a finisher medal.
There will be a 20 % discount if you decide to register for both events; the total entry fee will
amount to 216 €.
IF I HAVE REGISTERED AND I CANNOT RACE, WILL I GET MY MONEY BACK?
Sorry, no refunds.
MY NATIONAL FEDERATION CANNOT HELP ME OUT WITH REGISTRATION,

WHERE WILL THE MAIN AREA/VENUE BE LOCATED?

WHAT SHALL I RECEIVE AT REGISTRATION?
At registration you will be requested to show your Passport or ID. Once data have been
verified, you will be given:
• A wristband
• An opening ceremony voucher
• A closing ceremony voucher
• A welcoming package (only 1 per athlete, even if you register for two events)
Additionally, you will receive an envelope including the following items:
• Your bib number
• Stickers: helmet (x3), bike (x1), cloakroom (x1)
• A tattoo (1), with the race number for the right arm
• A tattoo (1), with the race number for the left leg
• A tattoo (1), with the age group category for the left calf
WHEN WILL REGISTRATION BE OPENED?
Registration will open from Thursday to Saturday (10:00 - 20:00) at Barceló Resort.
WHAT ABOUT THE WELCOMING PACKAGE PICK UP?
Registration will be opened as from Thursday onwards. You can come at any time during
opening hours. There is no specific time for each NF.
IF I AM A FINISHER, WILL I RECEIVE ANY ADITIONAL GIFT?
All finisher athletes will receive:
• Sprint Duathlon: medal and T-shirt
• Standard Duathlon: medal and T-shirt
WHERE WILL ATHLETES’ BRIEFINGS TAKE PLACE?
Athletes’ briefings will be held at Barceló Hotel.

WHERE CAN I RENT A BIKE? DO YOU KNOW OF ANY GOOD BIKESHOP IN

WILL THERE BE MASSAGE SERVICES?
Yes, after each race at the Recovery Area.
Additionally and during the week of the event, massage services will be provided. Further
info shortly.
MEDAL ENGRAVING
Commemorate your achievement! Engrave your FINISHER time on your medal! You can
book this service online, just go HERE (this link will be available soon) and pay 10 €. Or
also, after crossing the finish line go to the Recovery Area and pay 15 €.
TRAINING FACILITIES
SWIMMING Athletes and coaches can access Punta Umbría swimming pool from Wednesday to Monday (CLOSE: Saturday afternoon, Sunday) Facility schedule: From Monday to Friday 8 am – 2 pm 4 pm – 10:30 pm Saturday 9:30 am – 1:30 pm Reception schedule: From Monday to Friday 9:30 am – 1:30 pm 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm Saturday 9:30 am – 1:30 pm It’s important to attend during the reception schedule.

WHAT ABOUT THE LOST & FOUND OFFICE?
Should you lose any item, please go to the Lost & Found Office at the Expo, next to the
place where you will pick up your package with your bib numbers, at the Barceló Hotel.
CAN I WEAR MY OWN TRISUIT?
It is compulsory to wear your NF trisuit since you are representing your country.
WILL THERE BE AN EXHIBITION AREA/EXPO?
Yes. You will find it at Barceló Hotel the days before the event and on Saturday and Sunday
at the main Venue (Avenida Andalucía).
WHEN WILL THE ROADS BE CLOSED TO VEHICLE TRAFFIC? WHICH ROADS
WILL BE TRAFFIC-FREE?

WHEN WILL THE COURSES BE MARKED?
We intend to have all the courses marked by Tuesday.
WILL THERE BE LIVE TIMING?
Yes. All events will have live timing through the official APP. Further info shortly.
WILL THERE BE FREE PHOTOS OF THE EVENT?
Yes. An official photographer will be at the Finish Line and pics will be posted on Facebook.
BIKE SEGMENT
IS IT COMPULSORY TO WEAR THE BIB NUMBER DURING THE BIKE
SEGMENT?
According to the rules, it is not compulsory but optional.
HOW MANY LANES WILL THERE BE?
The number of lanes will depend on the race, but there will be at least one lane per
race (sometimes more lanes).
WHAT ABOUT THE BIKE COURSE?
Athletes are requested to ride on the right hand side of the road.
IF I DECIDE TO WITHDRAW FROM THE RACE, WILL THERE BE VEHICLES TO
BRING ME BACK TO THE TRANSITION AREA?

RUN SEGMENT
WHERE SHOULD ATHLETES THROW AWAY THEIR TRASH OR UNWANTED
OBJECTS?
Athletes MUST throw away trash or unwanted objects (glasses, bottles, spare parts, etc.) at
Aid Stations or at the designated areas.
IS IT COMPULSORY TO WEAR THE BIB NUMBER DURING THE RUN
SEGMENT?
Yes. Athletes are requested to wear their bib number at all times and always visible.

CAN MY RELATIVES/FRIENDS CROSS THE FINISH LINE WITH ME?
According to the rules, IT IS FORBIDDEN.
CAN RELATIVES/FRIENDS ACCESS THE MEDICAL TENT/ FIRST AID POST
TO SEE AN INJURED ATHLETE?
No. Relatives and friends will be duly informed. It is best to avoid crowds in these places to
provide athletes with the best medical care. Thanks for your understanding!
WILL I FIND MY CHIP IN THE ATHLETE’S BAG?
Yes. Please do check if you have received the chip before the race starts.
CAN I TAKE MY BIKE ON TRAINS AND BUSES?
Yes. However, if you are staying in Punta Umbría everything is within walking distance.
