What is the style of your music?

The trashy, deathpunk style. We like long and

hard parties and that's what we' re doing.

    What are your musical influences?

We have a lot of different musical influences, like

Murder City Devils, Leftver crack or World

nferno friendship society. But we also listen to aot of sound like: metal, munk and HC (of course),

pop, rock, hip hop and stuff like that. But actually

our main influences are the things we experiance

n everydays life. What we see, what we feel and

all the things that surround us. For example:

trouble with the cops, stupid, conservative

bavarian assholes, as well as the high life and

    problems with alcohol.

Is it hard for a band like you to get a record

    deal?

The thing is that we are a DIY band, so we are not

ooking for a record deal. But of course it's hard

for a small band to get a record deal, because

there are so many bands out there that are

touring around and have a record and so on. Of

course there are a lot of good bands, but it makes

it harder for a small band to get attention.

What is the scene like for your musical

    style in your country?

As mentioned above we are mostly part of the DIY

punk scene, which makes it easier for us to get intouch with people who set up small shows at

alternative clubs or housing projects and squats,

or do other stuff like writing fanzines, playing in

bands, put out tape samplers and most of all cook

delicious food. That's cool, because that's the way

we have the opportunity to play shows

everywhere in Germany. But in fact the scene is

getting smaller due to the lack of money and

interest and of course there is trouble with the

state too. The big scene of fashion and no content

    is getting bigger.

What are youre local indie labels

    (underground, DIY) for your musical

    style?

In Regensburg, our home town, there are

different labels and concert groups like Glutex,

Das Gute konzert or Tanzbr who are friendsof us, and there is also Extreme life wasting, a

abel and concert group, run by ourselves. Just

    have a look at:

    www.myspace.com/extremelifewasting .

How come that you two bands tour

together? Your musical style is different!

We once met the incredible Road kill zombies

when we put up a show for them in Regensburg at

The Danz, and we realized that we have very

similar goals and expectations how it should be

on tour. We like each others music and they are

also great alcoholics. So we did it and it was big

    fun.

    slika David

How is it to play for 10 people? In Bazen

there was only about 10 visitors!

As long as these ten people care, we' re fine. As we

can see here you can also get a lot of reputation

although the audience was not that big. Maybe

the next time the ten people bring in ten friends.

My friend asked, how it is for you to play

songs, that sounds very similar, to play

them on a concert, at practice, all the time,

    the same music?...

Really, are they that similar? We like our songs

very much and really enjoy to play them live.Nevertheless we are more concerned about

getting free beer, meeting people, seeing other

places and searching for the hellfire light.

Are you interested to release mini CD-R

    for my pirate (lo-fi, CD-R, D. I. Y.,

    underground) label Krep productions? It

would be EP, 25 min.! Mini CD-R goes with

photocopied fanzine Krep one issue a

month! It would be mays or junes issue.

Yes, of course. But we don't think you'll get money

out of it, so you can also pay with your soul.

    What is your recent release?

A few months ago we recorded some songs. We

hope to release them as a 7 song EP in early

summer. But at the moment we have just released

a compilation of older stuff, live recordings and

some outtakes of the the new material named

This is my heartbeat on CDR for the tour. Wealso have a Demo CD and a split 7 inch with our

    close friends The Fine print.

What equipment do you use for playing?

Our setup is very reduced. We just use the things

that are really necessary, so we don't use effectsand stuff like that. Mr. Battletank plays a Sonor

drumset and Paiste cymbals, Mr. Suicide trusts in

Gibson guitars and Koch amps, Mr. Crap trusts in

no one. Mr. Deodorante has no own Bass amp.

Actually we use the stuff of the other bands....

What is in your opinion the purpose of

your musical style (dancing, do you have a

    message, political maby, raw power,...)?

First thing of all is we wanna rock, have partiesand a lot of booze. We wanna express ourselves

too, our anger and our political views. We don't

have a certain message, but we have a very clear

point of view on racism, sexism, homophobia,

religious shit and the police, and you know, they

    suck!

Are you from Stockholm or from

    Irvington?

I was born in Stockholm but currently live in

    Irvington.

What is music scene like in yout town

    (Stocholm, Irvington)?

Irvington is a suburb of New York, and as you can

magine the scene there is quite alive.

Did you move to U.S.A. to start your

    career?

No, my family moved here when I was 13 because

    of the family business.

You have 2 albums out. Are they both for

    Documento?

No, only the second one, Dirt cleans. The first one

    was self-released.

    Erland Karkoff, Myspace

What is the story about your label? Why

are you looking for a ne one?

    Well, basically it's a friend's label that's based in

The Phillipines and New York. I'm looking for a

new one as they never really did anything to

    promote it.

You have 11 songs on Myspace page and on

your web page marked as misc. and 2000,

20001 stuff. Whats the story about those

    songs. Are they from demo?

They're in a bit of a different style. I was playing

more guitar around that time. I would say these

songs are quite influenced by the band Built to

spill who I've been a fan of since my early teens. I

ike the songs, they just never made it to an

    album.

Who did help you record, play your music?

Did you record all instruments by

    yourself?

All my music and all the instruments are recorded

and played by myself. I prefer to work this way as

there is not as much pressure on you. We're at a

time we're you can make high quality recordings

at home with a computer. This couldn't be done

as easily only 10 years ago. It's pretty exciting.

Are there any labels in Irvington? Indie

    labels? Some famous bands?

I'm not really sure if there are any labels here.

Stan Getz, the famous jazz saxophonist used to

ive here. His widow still does. The ex-bass player

from Marilyn Manson lives in the town next door.

Do you have a manager? What about a

    booking agency?

I don't have a manager or booking agency, but my

lovely wife of 1 month promised to help me with

all things promotion and distributions. I wouldlove to write music for indie films or even tv.

Would you be interested in releasing

pirate mini CD-R EP with your music

alongside my fanzine in couple of months.

independent music media,...)? To give to

my friends, and to 2 student radio stations!

    Sure man!

    slika David

Are you planning to tour Europe in future?

I don't really play live as I don't think it would be

very exciting to use playback of the music when I

perform. I have so many parts in my music that it

would be difficult to represent it live with only

one person. Also, I basically write the music right

around the time I record and then often don't play

t again. Lots of stuff is improvised while the

    "tape" is rolling.

Your music is a style of alternative rock or

    what?

I suppose it could fall under experimental

alternative rock. But I have some very varied

stuff. I sometimes do stuff that could fall under

electronic music. I did a classical inspired song

with a hip-hop beat that a rapper ended up using.

You're from Los Angeles, is it hard to get a

    record deal there?

    I haven't really tried. I bet it's not hard if you're

talented and you run around meeting the right

people a lot. I tend to keep to myself and I suck at

    networking...

You are not signed, or what! Why?

No, not signed. I plan to work on that at some

    point haha.

Your music is alternative pop or what?

    What are the songs about?

The songs are just about stupid topics, things that

I think a person would sing about if they were

stupid and happy. It's 60% naivete and 40%

    irony.

I wonder, is it strange for you to have all

those half nude pictures on your Myspacepage? Don't get me wrong, I like your style,

I like girls in music business, I'm a fan of

Suicide girls. But don't you feel naked in

    front of thousands?

Not really, I don't care too much for some reason.

My identity and who I am as a person has

absolutely nothing to do with what I look like

naked or what people think of me.

What is the situation for your style of

music in your town? You must have indie

    labels in your neighbourhood?

There are a lot of labels around, a lot of my

friends have labels that they run, but not indie

music. It's more noise/sound art based.

    Naomi Elizabeth, Myspace

Do you plan to tour Europe? When?

I would like to go there this summer/fall, but I

don't have any real plans at this point. I have to

No, I did have a manager and he was a real jerk.

So I fired him. I'm not going to name any names

    though!!

my friends, and to 2 student radio stations!

Yeah, that sounds cool! I like to do releases now

that are only 1 song at a time, that's my new thing.

Who is helping you to make music? Do you

have a producer? Are you a songwrighter?

I do everything myself. Yeah I write all the songs.

Can you name some artists in your town

who make similar music as you and aren't

    signed?

Honestly, I don't know anyone who is like me,

    haha.

    slika KK forum

Do you wish to sign with a major label or

    wish to stay in underground?

Whatever, I'll just see how it goes. I don't even

know what's going on in the music industry these

days. If I get offered a good deal I'll take it, but

there are a lot of bad deals out there that I don't

    need.

    Do you have a stylist?

No haha. Women are supposed to know how to

    make themselves look fancy.

Would you like to say something to readers

    in Slovenia?

Slovenia rules! You're all doing an awesome job.

You're from Kittanning! What is the music

Kittanning is a small town about an hour from

Pittsburgh. There are really no bands here and

there's no scene at all. People might play acoustic

covers in a bar and there may be a punk band or

You run your own label. Is it CD-R? Are

you interested to release some of my

friends that make music solo also? I will

send you Jamendo links to the music!!!

My label is almost strictly for pretend. It's just the

name I use when I make a CD-R for friends ormake a Myspace page. I'd love to have a label

someday, but right now I wouldn't even be able to

afford to put out any kind of a run of my own

    stuff. I think I need a job!

How come you're not signed? Is it hard for

you to get a record deal? Your music is

similar to, I don't know, Times new viking.

    And they are quite famous!

Thank you. I'm glad you like the songs. I'm not

signed...well, I'm not sure. I'm not good at

promoting or sending things around. Since I met

Ingrid, she's been much more encouraging and

helpful and I got the boring landmarks album

onto the Bolachas blog, at least. I did have a

record out on Powertool records in New Zealand.

It was an EP. That's about as close as I've gotten

    to being signed.

Is Ingrid your girlfriend? Is it great to

make music with your lover? Are some

    difficulties about it?

Ingrid is my girlfriend and my best friend. Right

now, because she's shy about making music, she

ust sequences the records and gives me constant

nput and feedback and inspiration, as well as

baked goods. the boring landmarks would not bewithout her.

How do you make your music? You play allof the instruments by your own? And then

record them on multitrack? Do you use

    computer for beats?

I play everything or at least 95%. There may be a

part or two on "go away" that's not played by me,

like the drums on 'bike', which were done by the

amazing Adam Ludwig. Other than that, it's all

me with crappy equipment into a cassette 4-track.

I use a multi-effects pedal for the drum machine.

I wish I had more real drums here. I only have a

    snare.

What kind of equipment do you use?

I have a few junky guitars and one Fender bullet

guitar. I have a couple of really bad mics and a

    Yamaha cassette 4-track.

What is your discography? Do you have a

    vinyl out?

I have too many albums to name but the only

thing that's out is the 'Shake the sound' EP by

Friendstealer. That's out in New Zealand on

out, but it hasn't happened yet.

Are you still interesting to issue the best

of... EP for Krep productions. Do you have

your music on Jamendo, Archive.org? Are

    you interesting in that?

I hope you like the EP I sent. It's sort of a

compilation of a few different songs from

different recent sessions. I'm not sure what

Jamendo is, so no I don't have anything up there.

I pretty much only have used Myspace for my

various projects. I'm not good at computers!

What is your music talking about?

    Partying?

No, not partying...I'd say just about life, maybe?

About the problems we face and the love that will

    get us thru them.

What is the purpose of making music

    nowadays? Isn't everything instant?

My purpose is to express myself and to make

music for myself and Ingrid to listen to. I do like

the instant nature of it, yes. When I've got my

regular computer up and running, I can record a

song and have it out for the world to hear in a half

    an hour. That's awesome.

Did you hear about some music bands

    from Slovenia?

Your music is the first from Slovenia that I'veheard. I'm interested in learning more, for sure.

slika Sonvol iz videa od tipa z BazenaIs it necessary to have a muse in making

    music?

It helps. Ingrid has inspired my music, not only

from the perspective of having someone and

something to write about, but by opening me up

to other ideas and thoughts and lyrical tangents.

A muse is good to have, sure.

Do you intend to make a music band in

    future?

I've played with lots of people and probably will

some more, but I'm not sure if I'll ever have a

regular functioning band. It's nice to play with

    other people something, though.

    What about moving to Europe?

We'd definitely like to come someday.

Hi! You're from New Baltimore right?

What is the musical scene like in your

    town?

Well, New Baltimore itself doesn't have much of a

music scene, but the Mid-west, particularly

Michigan, has an amazingly rich folk scene.

What are the most famous bands from

    yout town?

There aren't any famous musicians that have

come directly out of New Baltimore, but just to

name a few folk musicians that have come out of

Michigan would be Sufjan Stevens, Chris

Bathgate, and Matt Jones. All personal favorites.

Do you have some record labels? What are

    them?

Some of my favorite record labels are Asthmatic

Kitty, Saddle Creek, Quite Scientific, and Merge.

Are you realy 18 years old? That's young!

For how long do you make music now?

I am really 18! I've been trying to write music

since I was 12, but I've only seriously been trying

to put my music out for about a year now.

How come you're not signed? Isn't there

some indie record labels for folk music in

    your town?

A label that I really like that is somewhat near me

s Quite scientific. I'd love to get signed by them.I'm not signed yet because my music hasn't really

been out there long enough that it would attract

the attention of a label. I have confidence that one

day some label will pick me up. Maybe even a

major label! It's just a matter of time.

What's the story about Red cloud?

Red Cloud is my own little label that I'll be

releasing my first album on. It's nothing serious,

just a name I can release my music through.

Do you have a manager? What about a

    booking agency;

    ([email protected])?

    I don't have a manager or a booking agency. I've

    been kind of doing all that myself thus far;

[email protected] is where anyone can

reach me if they'd like to book me, or if they have

    any questions.

What is Seven hours night shifts? Is that

your album? Where was it released? What

is your current release? What is your

    discography?

"Seven hour night shifts" is actually my first

album. It'll be released this summer through all

    major digital retailers (iTunes, AmazonMP3,

Napster, etc.) I'm really excited about it. I'm

hoping that it'll be a success!

What about Hot waters? Where is it from?

Hot Waters is actually an old, old song. Well, I

shouldn't say it's that old. It was the first ever The

Jet Rodriguez song, which means it was only

created about a year ago. I have plans to release

    should be pretty fun.

    The Jet Rodriguez, Myspace

Would you be interested in releasing

pirate mini CD-R EP with your music

alongside my fanzine in couple of months.

20-30 copys (smal city, smal country, little

independent music media,...)? To give to

my friends, and to 2 student radio stations!

I think that would be cool! It will be a nice means

of exposure. I'm totally down for that.

You are young, but you play roots music.

How come? Is the medium of your

grandparents interesting for you to play?

And to create in it? Aren't you MTV

generation? And pop, electronic? Is folk

    popular in your age group?

Haha. Maybe I am to young to play folk music.

Interestingly enough though, there is a surge for

folk music right now in the younger generations.

With artists like Sufjan, Bon Iver, and BrightEyes, the young 'ens are getting a taste of roots

music. I think it's a really cool phenomenon.

Are you planning to tour Europe in future?

Although right now I don't have specific plans to

tour Euroupe, I have confidence that a European

tour is in my near future. You can plug into my

myspace for updates in regards to that kind of

    stuff.

Tomi Blues v MKC Kranj 16.

    4. 2009

    16. 4. 2009 OB 21.00 je v kranjskem Mladinske in

kulturnem centru nastopil kranjski kantavtor incountry blues junkie Tomi Blues. To je bil prvi

koncert v kranjskem MKC-ju letos. Nihe se ni

pritoil zaradi hrupa, nihe tudi ni priel.

Poslualo nas je skupaj ene sedem obiskovalce, od

tega trije samo kratek as. Tomi je bil zaradi tega

    zelo znerviran.

    slika Sonvol

Naslednji koncert bo maja 2009 in sicer ena od

oblik Brjast, Balast verjetno, se pravi Martin

Ukmar in kolega pomonik. No da se vrnemo k

Tomiju. Zaigral je vrsto blues in country priredb,

ki jih nisem poznal. Nisem niti spraevalkaj ve.
