Welcome to the 9th Annual Family Traditions!

It is hard to believe that it has been 9 years that Sunset View Farms has been hosting the Family

Traditions Female Sale. Everyone involved with this event once again welcomes you to the farm in

Auburn on Saturday, April 27. Ronnie and Bryan work hard each year on selecting some of the top

females from their herd to share with the Simmental industry, fellow breeders, and friends. It is

important to the Sunset View program to continue to produce females that work in various types of

programs, and they have done that successfully for years.

If you know Ronnie Creek very well you know that family is very important to him. Therefore, it

would be no surprise that year after year we focus on the matriarchs; the families that have done so

much for the Sunset View program as well as many of you attending. You can flip through the catalog

and see that these cow families that SVF has built upon are working and they continue to work each

year. They are working in programs across the United States and into Canada. The opens, breds,

and cow/calf pairs stem back to some of the great donors that have walked or are still walking the

pastures here in Auburn. Genetics and families are a vital party to any successful cattle operation,

and we hope you will come see what SVF has to offer again this year.

There is a lot to see and take in. Family members are working in operations everywhere and we

have tried to highlight that for you more than ever this year. There are open females that will be

competitive in the show ring, breds that will be essential members to your herd, and a super set

of cow/calf pairs that will be making you money before you know. Of course, there are a limited

number of genetic lots that showcase some of the best that have ever came out of this the SVF

program.

The genetics run tried, true, and strong throughout the entire catalog. We invite you to come take a

look at the offering here at SVF, and visit with Bryan and Ronnie about your interests. This year will

be broadcasting on DV Auctions if you can’t be with us on sale day, but know that you are welcome

to come and view the offering at any time. If there is any way we can be of service to you as you

make your selections, please do not hesitate to call DP Sales, the Creek family, or other

consignors. We hope to see you and your family on April 27th in Auburn for the

9th Annual Family Traditions Female Sale.

Sunset View FarmClassic has always been a standout since birth and well received by breeders

across the country. This SimAngus™ female has many of the qualities and strong attributes as her dam, Sheza Star. This March born female is wide based, square and wide hipped plus extremely soft in her flank and super big ribbed. Stars Classic exhibits a sound structure like all the family members. This daughter of the Star has a bright future as a bred and show heifer however the most important factor is the future of building genetics and being a positive influence on someone’s breeding program. No matter what the Star daughters have been sired by history says they are great breeding pieces and profitable to many different programs. Over the past years several daughters have been sale toppers at SVF and other sales and each person may had a different favorite. Star’s Classic is one of the shining stars of this superb family. Z201 is homozygous polled and homozygous black.

Sunset View FarmHere is one that will attract attention come sale day. The first time this

Eagle Eye was shown was a young age at the Kentucky State Fair. Being green and young she still attracted a few good eyes from cattle breeders. This Eagle Eye female has the look plus has an overall complete design throughout her total package. Not many holes in this one. In visiting with Bill Conley prior to selecting a couple of BC bulls to use on Star, his suggestions all seemed to work well. The BC program also believes in strong consistent cow families. We would like to keep all the Stars daughters however we like to see those work and benefit breeding programs whether large or small. Here value will increase, as she gets older. No doubt she will add value. Z224 is homozygous polled and homozygous black.

Sunset View Farm & Clear Water SimmentalsIn the 2008 sale a popular full sister, Sheza Star S803 sold for $54,000 to

Hudson Pines, Tolle, Guyer and Lambright. After several years of success in an E.T. program, that Built Right donor commanded even more money and continues to work for Moore Land and Cattle Co. Star Z211 is a beauty just like her full sister commanding attention with her balanced phenotype and correct structure. You will like the internal dimension in this young brood cow prospect. Z221 has everything you want in the breeding piece. This mating works and definitely is backed by of two of the breeds best Star and Ebony Antoinette. Homozygous polled.

been producing consistent females and bulls for the last few years, and continues to be a feature in the Family Tradition Sales. Her son HTP SVF Packin Heat claimed Reserve Champion Bull honors at the NAILE, and a daughter was shown successfully and now resides in the donor pen at JRW. Breeders such as Sloup, Fairfield, Diamond A, Edwards Simmental Farm, and Ingram Livestock have Daisy Mae daughters working in their herds. The ASA Foundation lot in 2012 brought this awesome donor cow to the national spotlight selling a flush for $10,000 to Sanders, Pine Ridge, and Hudson Pines at the NWSS. Daisy Mae has a life-time earning of over $200,000 dollars now, and she is still in her prime. This past fall a blaze face heifer stepped in the show ring and Daisy Mae was a household name. “Image” claimed division champion honors at the NAILE Percentage junior and open shows before being purchased by the Udell family for $55,000. This heifer has gone on to gain many friends across the Midwest and claim honors at the Iowa Beef Expo and numerous jackpot shows. Aside from the show ring appeal this mating has, on paper this mating is impressive; being in the top 3 and 4 percent for WW and YW. We mated Daisy Mae back to Sharper Image after the success of Image, but this will be the only opportunity to purchase this mating. Don’t miss out on purchasing genetics out of this percentage female matriarch. Progeny will be homozygous black and homozygous polled.

At last year’s female sale alone six females by three different sires averaged $5025. Those animals went to the herds VanAerman, Gerdes, Thompson, Steele and JRW. The high-selling Shania female from the 2012 sale sold for $9,500 to Holly Springs Simmental and was exhibited Krista Barb. That female collected lots of banners all summer long and was 3rd overall at the Eastern Regionals. In addition to top-notch females an Upgrade sired Shania son, Y134 just sold for $4,900 in our bull sale going to work for Colby Warren of AL. We thought so much of Y134 that we used him in our own herd and there are several calves selling sired by him. We know we are just getting started on this genetic gem’s potential. We feel that this pair of Star Player heifers can offer any program many things. With an impressive set of numbers and the striking phenotype to back it up, the sky is the limit.

KenCo Cattle Company, Tylertown Simmentals, and Sanders Ranch have added genetics to their herd over the past few months. With the success of Allegiance through last fall, and being out of one of Nick’s faithful donors, when the first Allegiance semen was frozen, we jumped on the opportunity to be one of the first to flush to him. In addition to having a proven dam her sire Warsaw has sent us some pretty impressive progeny. This gal should be big ribbed, big hipped and have lots of middle as she continues to mature. Sunset View FarmsThis is one of our favorite pairs this spring, not only because of her great

phenotype, but also because of the genetic flexibility she offers. Her beautiful red dam was one of Amber’s most popular show heifers. That big ribbed, stout soft made female is now making her mark in David Berry’s herd in TX. Just study her and think what she could do for your program. An impressive heifer calf by that stout Shania son is just an added bonus.

Sunset View FarmsA nice young pair here that carries a strong Family Tradition. While boasting

a very admirable set of numbers and style, this female comes from a mainstay line. Y780’s dam has had numerous past sale highlights, the most notable daughter might be “She’s the One” that is a leading donor in Greg Brown’s program. Other family members have gone on to be successful in the herds of Ward Bishop, Gene Richards, Rolling Hills and Harvey Bozeman. She sells with a strapping bull calf by the Reserve National Champion, Packin Heat.

Sunset View FarmIf you don’t have a Star Player daughter working in your herd, you should.

As his progeny continue to come and mature we appreciate him more everyday, Richard and Johnny look pretty smart now. Y427 is another good example of how he works on some many different cows. Speaking of cows this one has some cow power behind her; the Savannah line is one of the breed’s most notable. Good young pairs will always make you money.
