MEDIA ADVISORY
Family Planning Counsellor offers aid to Riverton residents
WHO: The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NWSMA) in partnership
with other Government agencies including the National Family Planning
Board, non-governmental organisations and corporate Jamaica will be
WHAT: offering medical aid to Riverton residents
WHERE: at the Administrative Building of the Retirement Disposal Site, Riverton City;
Kingston
WHEN: on Wednesday June 6, 2012 beginning at 10 a.m. in observance of Solid
Waste Day
WHY: Solid Waste Day is an annual event. This year it is even more significant
given the challenges experienced by community members who live and
work in close proximity to the two largest disposal sites. Early this year,
persons in the wider corporate area as well as in the vicinity of Spanish
Town Road, sections of St. Catherine (which includes the communities of
Cooreville Gardens, Gregory Park, and Waterford) experienced smoke
nuisance for several days as a result of a fire which was further
exacerbated by the prevailing winds. In light of this, the NSWMA has
organised this exposition in an effort to lend a helping hand to these
persons. Other organisations have been invited to provide goods and
services to residents.
