INTRODUCTION

Life is all those memories that we can get, but especially

those memories that you can remember with appreciation

The next are the most incredible and remarkable

memories and experiences that I have had with some of

my relatives, so I wanted to share in this album with my

classmate. I have selected some pictures to represent

every moment. Most of those pictures were taken in the

very moment that the event occurred as I describe in the

written articles. I hope you can enjoy all of them.

CLIMBING WITH MY SISTER

When I was on vacation last December I visited along with

some members of my family a very small town, where we

were living for some years, when we were children. That

small-town is very beautiful and there are beautiful

mountains that surround all the landscape.

We wanted to climb one of those mountains, and so we did

it. But after we enjoyed the amazing view taking pictures,

my sister fell down and hurt her ankle. It was impossible

for her to walk without help. So it took us more than two

hours trying to take her down from the mountain because

there was not any easy way to climb down. We ended up

that day tired, thirsty and hungry.

A NIGHT OUT TO THE CINEMA WITH MY

INTELIGENT LITTLE NIECE

My little five years old Nathy was having problem to

memorize the colors in English. So I promised her that if

she were able to get a good grade in her English exam, I

would take her to the cinema. And she did it, she got a

great five. As I promised her, we went to watch to the

movie the Jungle Book, she really enjoyed that movie, but

few minutes after finishing the movie she took off her

eyes from the big screen and stated to look around. Then

like a child when discover something new she surprised

said to me: “Uncle Pacho, that big screen is not real,

because it gets out from that thing that is there”,

fingering the projector.

A MORNING AS A BABY SISTER

That raining morning I was studying. My sister needed me

to attend an appointment with her doctor, so she asked

me: “Carlos, it’s raining. I can’t take Angel with me, could

you please take care of him until I came back? He is

sleeping and quiet”. “Sure” I answered her and she left.

After that, all it was a completely mess. That little six

months old baby boy woke up and he started to call all my

attention. Goodbye homework! I couldn’t do anything else

more than playing and making him laugh because he was

threating me with scream and cry. When she came back

three hours later, Angel was sleeping again. She kissed

him saying: “What a quiet little angel, good boy”. In my

main it was just an idea: “Poor baby sisters”.

SAVING A BABY TOLSTOY

I was born near a river, so since I was a child I used to go

to swim there. Now that I live here in Valledupar, I have

been visiting the river every time that I have a day off.

Last time I went there I did it with my cousin Omar. We

swam, ate and had a lot of fun. In the very moment that

we were dressed and ready to leave the river, my cousin

suddenly saw a little tortoise being carried by the river

flow, floating in the water. I immediately threw myself

into the water and I rescue it. After taking pictures of

the cute tortoise, we changed our plan, we looked for a

secure place and away from people and we released it.

LEARNING TO RIDE WITH MY FATHER

When I decided to study I realized I needed a motorbike

to transport me, because of the time that I would require

to go to the university, go back home and after that go to

work. So I bought a bike and my father was the teacher

who taught me the first steps to drive. After some hours

practicing I decided to drive by myself without his

company. He was overseeing at first how it was all going

with me, but later he got distracted with his friends. I

spend driving around for long time without knowing how to

stop driving. My father with ability helped me to stop and

turn the moto off.

CONCLUSION

Every time we check pictures, all those moments that

were captured by the camera come back to you. With this

activity I could get back some of those funny and

incredible moments that I have lived with my relatives. It

was also a nice experience selecting pictures and putting

all of them in a printed album created by ourselves.

Nowadays most of us only keep those memories in our

cellphones or computers, but it is also great having a

direct view of these memories in an album.

Page 26: Family memories part 1

My great- mother told me the history of how they came to San José de Oriente, the village where my mom is from, my great-mother lived in a farm in Guamalito with her children but there they had a bad life because my great-grandfather was hitting them and got drunk enough then she decided to come to San Jose because she had heard recommendations from one of his sons who worked there, she told me that she had to walk a day to reach Guamalito then they picked up what they could bring and killed 15 chickens to eat on the way because they walked since 2 in the morning and reached stayed the village at 3 pm, all the way by walking, 8 brothers and my great grandmother that nigh in Guamalito to rest and the next day went to El Carmen and then from to “coast” as she said to her children, in the nigh they stayed in Guamalito and one of my aunts went out to know the town. She was excited because she had never seen many lights and she lost, my older uncles along with some cousins went out to look for her and found her playing, with her shoes in hand.

Page 27: Family memories part 1

My aunt tells me that one day, she and my grandmother went to carry a money where a lady well known in the village and they were allowed to ask for a glass of "chicha" every time they went, but suddenly one day of those

when they asked for a glass of "chicha" the woman told them that the chicha had finished and that had stayed "guarapo" but they did not know that the

"guarapo" gets drunk and they accepted the glass of guarapo, my aunt was 4 years old and my grandmother 6 years old then they were drunk and they

return to the house hugging and screaming: Down the Liberal Party, up the Godos, it was very dangerous considering that at that time had war between

conservatives and liberals, they had to cross a narrow bridge on the way home but they don´t remember like they crossed; when they arrived to the

house, my grandmother went to tie up a donkey and my aunt put it to peel a yucca and my aunt vomited beside yucca and my grandmother vomited

close the donkey

Page 28: Family memories part 1

One day my Gladys aunt and my Ilva aunt arrived from the village to Valledupar because they wanted to buy clothing and they had to go to a medical appointment but they were not accustomed to traffic, they had many years of living in a town then they went to cross a big street and a taxi came really fast but they did not see and the taxi almost runs over them, they very frightened crossed very fast and the driver shouted them some ugly things; in the afternoon when they had already left the medical appointment and they had bought some things, they decided to visit one of his sisters who lived in the city but for life's coincidences when they went to cross a street again the taxi almost runs over them but the funniest of the story was that the driver was same that the taxi almost runs over them hours before then the driver pulled his head out the window and yelled loudly "there are those crazies again”.

Page 29: Family memories part 1

My cousin when she was 6 years old, she one day saw her dad was sleeping, but her dad was sleeping with his open mouth, he was snoring, he slept a nap in a chair near the kitchen then my cousin went to the kitchen and asked his mom a glass of panela water, her mother never imagined that my cousin was planning something, my cousin went where her dad was sleeping and she emptied the glass panela water in the mouth of her dad, then as her dad was snoring he made a noise like blender with the panela water but it was because my cousin's father was drowning; when my cousin heard the sound, she ran where her mother and she told her: my dad if liquefies it, if liquefies it.

the same cousin other day in a month of December she was playing with his friends and she had a little light bulbs of the Christmas lights in her hand suddenly she arrived running where her mother telling her that she had ate of little light bulbs and her mother understood that she had eaten little light bulbs.

INTRODUCTION

“There’s nothing that makes you more insane than family. Or more happy. Or more

exasperated. Or more… secure.” – Jim Butcher

Everyone knows that family and friends will always be there when you need them most and when one

goes through a crisis they are there to get us out of that "hell" if so can be told, is why any experience

or moments that are made in our daily life, we always try to freeze that moment or even go back in

time to continue watching them and experience again those great moments, unforgettable moments

stored within us, our precious memories.

The following work was done in order to make known the application of the structures seen in class

and the copies delivered. In this work you will find how family memories are described, in this case

some members of my family. These family memories have been asked to each of the 5 members of

my family, which these memories are very precious and have caused great impact on his life and in

the others.

A LOT OF LAUGHS IN THE AMUSEMENT PARK

My aunt Alejandra used to tell me about the beautiful memories that

she had with my siblings and me, as I can’t remember of what we would

do in those years, she began to talk about one of those beautiful

memories, it was when we went to an amusement park called “La Feria

de Chapultepec”, it was very special because I went with my aunt, my

uncle, my cousins and my siblings, it was so special because almost of

not seeing us because we’d live far away of them and to have us near to

her it would be a blessing, not just for her but for all the family, she

would see how much we have grown and she would know that when we

used to come to the house, we would fill the house with a lot of joy and

unforgettable memories. That day, she could enjoy it because she would

see that we were enjoying the ride, with big laughs and seeing our faces

when we came down from the games, it was very comforting, that's

when someone would realize that those little moments, they're worth it.

No one would want that the day came to end, those moments are the ones someone would remember when

you were old or maybe you would be sick, so why we wouldn’t repeat again those little minutes of joy, in which

we used to have huge smiles in our faces, we would thank to life, we would think it was worth to be waiting a

while to see us and think that she would enjoy us we were gone. She told me that this could recall many happy

moments as they are many, but the nostalgia is still present because the distance is so long, but here she would

always hope that the next time these moments would be repeated again.

A FIGHT OF SNOWBALLS

This is the memory of both my sister and me, her name is Mitzy, we

were in the “Nevado Del Toluca”, it would be colder than usual or

maybe it was because we didn’t use to be accustomed to these

temperatures and actually we were freezing as if we were at the

North Pole, that’s what she would tell me. One of the best parts of

the trip, was that we spent time as a family, together, we could climb

the mountain to the top so we could see the view, the forest and also

the people. When we went down, we could see snow falling from the

sky and all around the floor was covered of it, so we started making

snowmen, snow angels until one of one of her brothers hit her head

with a snowball, yeah, I was the one who threw that snowball, she

used to be more calm but in that moment, she started a fight, we

would throw snowballs to anyone who could be on our way, it was a

fight of "all against all", after that amazing snowball family fight, we

ended up even more tired but with enjoyable memories that hopefully

we would repeat once again.

A 15TH BIRTHDAY IN A HURRY

One of my many aunts, whose name is Noemi, told me about one little

and beautiful memory that she would always remember, it was her

15th birthday party, all the members were preparing the meal and they

would finish the preparations for the ornaments, they would send my

aunt to cut some ties with the knife, when suddenly she cut herself!!

She used to have a fear to the blood and therefore she would get

nervous and didn’t use to see the blood, so in the distance she saw a

pot full of water, she would ran and put her hand inside the pot when

in a flash the water was painted red. She fainted and when she woke

up, she would be in bed with my mother, trying to revive her with an

alcohol swab.

When it was finally time to go to the church, they would drive in a

decorated car and it had to arrive at the church but first she had to go

down of the car when her gloves got stuck when she closed the door

and the car would start to move to the church and in that moment, my

aunt almost lost her hands that day!!!!

That day everything happened, because when she was going to be crown, one of the chamberlains would get

tired of holding one of her nieces who would put the crown on her head. At the end, no one would remember

the cake!!! And when they were going to cut the cake, only was left the family!!!

AN UNCONDITIONAL FRIENDSHIP

Now it’s time to talk about one of my mother’s memories, it’s about her relationship with her friends, Alejandrina and Sonia. My mother used to remember when they were together, inseparable friends at high school but suddenly, my mother and Sonia separated from Alejandrina because she would enroll in another high school, but their schools used to be so close. As Sonia got married and my mother would enter to the nursing career, they would be separated one more time, after a while Alejandrina and my mother used to communicate by the phone, so they could meet again, my mother would remember that one night she had to work, so a day before, Alejandrina used to call my mother and my grandparents inviting her to have breakfast at her home, after my mother had breakfast, Alejandrina’s father would take my mother to her house, my mother could sleep in her friends’ house and the father of her friend used to prepare them breakfast and he would carried it to the bedroom, he was an incredible sir. Later, my mother went to have the entrance exam for a major, she would separate from her friends, but those years she would meet the man who now is my father, she fall in love and when she finished university, she went with my father to Colombia, she would leave away all her beloved friends and family, by the distance she could know that Alejandrina’s dad was dead and the divorce of her friend Sonia but she never lost communication with Alejandrina. My mother told me that if she was asked to change them she would answer never, because they would continue been the unconditional friends. Now my mother is on her homeland and they will meet again, because it's been two years that they haven’t seen each other, they will talk a lot, with a delicious coffee.

A HORRIBLE CLOWN This is the memory of one of my many

cousins, her name is Mitzy Andrea,

when she was 3 years old, she would

have her first party which she enjoyed

as she was with his cousins cohabiting

next to them. After the Mass, there

were clowns and magic acts, plus a

bouncy and many candies. Everyone

would sing karaoke, so she could go

and she would dress her fancy dress,

she used to like a lot Tinkerbell, so she

dressed as her, also her cake had the

image of Tinkerbell, there was

popcorn, ice cream, jelly,

confectioners and piñatas. But her

worst memory is when the clown did

his magic act, throwing his vest,

which was so heavy that fell on the

cake!!!! So my cousin cried so much,

she could watch her cake of

Tinkerbell, as it was slowly destroyed

and since then she doesn't like at all

the clowns and much less to throw her

face to the cake.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, we can say that this work has tried to know how and which are the grammatical

structures used to describe the family memories, but besides all this, to remember the moments or

experiences made alongside our family and our loved ones, because right now the affection, the

happiness and sharing beautiful moments with them are starting to get lost, because we are so busy

at work, at the university, with other people, etc, and that’s not the way to let them go away.

INTRO

Every person has his or her own histories, no matter if those were bad or good our past makes us better persons, always learning about our mistakes which makes us humans and avoiding them in the future. Our families are a big part of our lives because they are always teaching us new things with the pass of the years, they taught us how to be kind with others, they taught us ethical and moral values to form us as social beings and have good life, this values makes us valuable, makes us humans with the capacity of loving and having good moments through years.

The families are always in our hearts, despite of have bad moments they’re always there for us

and that makes them the most valuable connection of our past, when we’re young and when we get old.

Page 51: Family memories part 1

MY MOTHER

Her name is Maria Doris Gómez; she was born on March 27th of 1955 on Cali, Valle del Cauca which is the capital city of this department. When she was a child she used to live with her grandmother who had a good ability of cooking, my mom was always trying to help her to cook but she didn’t allow her so she

started to learn how to cook by her own.

She used to be a sales woman, when she was older she started to study fashion design and a few year later she created a clothing store in Valledupar, she used to travel around the country from Valledupar to Cali for example searching for fabrics. She closed that store to create a new one: a plants store, she had this desire since she was a child because she used to watch her grandmother watering her plants and buying new ones.

She always had a dream despite of been focus in other things: she wanted to be a dancer. One day she told to her grandmother that she had that dream but she didn’t allow her to be in a dance

course because she thought that all the dancers had a crazy life.

Despite of that she was always running away to the dance club and learning how to dance by herself.

Page 52: Family memories part 1

She always had that dream even when she got married with my dad a few years later. She met him in Valledupar working in a clothing store.

When she got moved to “Los Cortijos” neighborhood my mother met

some neighbors there who had a party spirit and immediately she started to talk with them and having some parties in the neighborhood.

She felt free dancing with her friends and having fun, even when she got pregnant she stills dancing. She won the “Los Cortijos’ Carnival

Queen” a few times by his dancing.

On the present day, despite of having 61 years old she stills dancing. She always told me that she will be there for me to support my dreams no matter what happened, she will be there for me, smiling and dancing.

Page 53: Family memories part 1

MY FATHER

His name is Enrique Orlando Santiago Gómez; he was born in March 28th of 1930 on Ocaña, Norte de Santander. He was a thug, serious but funny person at the same time. He used to be a musician playing the saxophone on his town carnivals.

He used to be also the governor of a small town near Ocaña for a few years. He used to be also a sales man, having a lot of business like a clothes store in Valledupar, she met my mom working there on that business too, he was older than her, he was 30 years old and she had only 16 years old, in that time that kind of relationships were normal, the men were older than woman, and therefore they died first than them.

He used to make me laugh when I was a child doing fun stuff like singing his favorite songs (the Garzón’s ones) or making funny

faces. I always sat down on his legs and he shaked me fast and that made me laugh too, he was always giving me money to play videogames in a store, she always tried to be a good father despite of his past, always been there to made me happy, now he’s gone, but he

will be in my heart forever, my hero, my comedian, my father.

Page 54: Family memories part 1

he’s always concerning to his closest persons.

The most important moment in his life was his University graduation, he become a lawyer studying law in the Universidad Popular del Cesar. He graduated in December 21st of 2012m the same day of the famous “Maya apocalypse “.

He was so happy at the moment he received his diploma that he started to cry while me and my mother were watching him on the sits of the auditory-

He’s always trying to get focus on his goals no matter what cost

were needed. He’s a good brother, despite being so annoying,

he’s always worrying about me and my mom, and he’s a little

bit moody but I’m still appreciating him.

Page 55: Family memories part 1
Page 56: Family memories part 1

MY COUSINS

Her names are Maria Alejandra Sanders and Andrea Sanders; they were born on April 6th of 1993 and October 10th of 1995.

They are the most fun cousins in my family, Maria Alejandra (the big one) has a quiet personality, but when she is having fun, she acts like a crazy, she used to be like that when she was young, now she’s more serious all the time,

Andrea (the little one) conversely is the opposite of Maria Alejandra because she is always acting like a crazy girl, talking and fooling around.

I remember the moment when I met them for the first time, we got friends instantly, we ran and play all the time, when my aunt came with them we went to La Paz town, and visit some friends, my aunt and my cousins stayed for some days, the couldn’t be on my birthday but I enjoyed to talk and play

with them, we don´t have too much communication but, I still loving them.

Page 57: Family memories part 1

MY GODFATHER

His name is Enrique Iseda; he was born on August 4th of 1962

He’s my godfather since I born, he’s a good man, he’s a priest in

Valledupar, since he was I child he wanted to be in the God’s

service, he used to be very quiet but by the moment he was growing up he started to be a man of God.

He was always giving me gifts when I was a child because I always went to his church with mi mom and pray with her, especially on holidays, the most important moth for me is December because is a good environment and I used to go to his masses and it was always crowded, he spoke on the church and I listen him.

He’s cool, despite we don’t have enough communication,

sometimes I see him and talk with him a little bit.

Page 58: Family memories part 1
Page 59: Family memories part 1

THEY ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN MY LIFE, THEY GIVE ME THE STRENGHT TO MOVE ON NO MATTER WHAT HAPPEN, AND THEY’RE

ALWAYS WITH ME, BY MY SIDE, CHEERING ME UP. OUR FAMILIES ARE THE MOST VAUABLE THING IN OUR LIVES, THE’RE THE ONLY ONES WHO

ADVICE US AND TRYING TO AVOID THE BAD HABITS, MY MEMORIES ARE ALL ABOUT MY FAMILY, BEHIND THEM THERE’S A VERY CLEAR IDEA

ABOUT MY GOALS AND MY CHARACTER THAT MAKE ME WHO I AM NOW, I’M VERY PROUD ABOUT THE PERSONS THAT CAME TO MY LIFE AND HOW

THE CHANGE MINE AND I CHANGED THEIRS.

THE PAST MAKE US STRONGER, BECAUSE BEHIND THAT PAST, THERE ARE ALWAYS THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE US, CHEERING US UP.
