Fishing Fanatic

Alton Jones from Waco, Texas won the

Bassmaster Classic Championship in

2008. At the end of the day, the angler

weighed in with a total sh weight of 49

pounds, 7 ounces. Later that day, Jones

picked up his check for $500,000 for

winning the tournament. He was crowned

the greatest shermen in 2008.

Pretty exciting! Yet, there are more

important things to catch than sh.

Read Matthew 4:18-22. What did 

 Jesus ask these men? 

How hard would it be for 

you to leave everything and 

follow Jesus? 

Simon came from a very

interesting home life. Hewas the son of a sherman.

His name, Simon, means

unstable and untrustworthy.

He had to live with the

humiliation of his name and his

family for many years. Simon was a

professional sherman on the Sea of

Galilee. However, when Jesus called him

to sh for men, he dropped his nets and

followed Jesus.

Do you know Jesus has a perfect plan for 

your life? 

It doesn’t matter what kind of background or family life

you come from, Jesus has the power to do great things in

your life. God is waiting to do something amazing in your

life if you will allow Him.

Trust Him with your life and your future today.

Blind Faith

Ginny Owens has been blind sinceshe was two years old. Despite

her lack of sight, Ginny has become

a leading Christian singer in her

generation. She has been nominated

for eight Dove awards and every tour

date in 2008 was completely booked. It

is through her testimony that thousands of

blind people continue to strive to reach their

full potential for Christ.

Have you ever met anyone who was blind? 

Read Acts 9:1-9. What do you think Saul was

thinking when he was blinded by the light? 

Saul was educated and trained to be a Pharisee. His job

was to ensure that everyone kept the Law. Saul hated

Christians and had been given orders to kill as many as he

could nd. Because of his background, Saul thought he

was doing what he was created to do. God had other plansfor him.

Does what your family think of you determine what 

you will become in life? Why? How? 

God took Saul out of his misguided background and

used him in a powerful way for the kingdom of God. His

name would later be changed to Paul and he would be

considered one of the greatest Christian men who

ever lived.

If you are willing to be used, God will do something very

special and very powerful in your life. Make sure your

heart is ready for Him to speak to you.

Born to Matter

Just before her pregnancy, Pam Tebow fell into a coma

caused by drinking contaminated water. Pam and

Bob Tebow were Christian missionaries in Manila,Philippines at the time and did not have any idea

that she was expecting a baby. When the doctors

discovered that she was pregnant, they told the

parents the baby had already been affected by

the contaminated water and there was no way

he would ever survive.

When have you witnessed one of 

God’s miracles? 

Pam refused

to believe that

her baby would

die. She and her

husband began to pray

for the baby every day. On August

14, 1987, a beautiful but skinny baby boy

was born to the Tebow’s. They named him “Timmy.”

Twenty years later Tim Tebow won the Heisman

Trophy and would lead the Florida Gators to an SEC

and National Football Championship. A living exampleof God at work around us.

Read Luke 1:11-14. Why would John be a blessing? 

Why did John matter? 

In what way are you a blessing to your parents

and others? 

Zechariah was happy that God was going to bless himwith a son. However, he couldn’t imagine all the ways

God was going to use John. John the Baptist had been

created by God for a specic purpose.

It is important to understand that you were created by

God for a specic purpose. God created you to do some-

thing very special for Him. Pray that God will give you a

clear direction in your life.

 help me to seek   Your will for my life.
