Family Involvement Night Science Fair/STEM Information

What: Ballenger Creek Elementary Science Fair When: Wednesday November 7th, 2012 Where: 5:30 – 7:30 in the Cafeteria

*All parents, friends, and students are invited to the evening activities that include viewing the projects. Who: ALL students in grades Pre-Kindergarten to 5th who

would like to enter. How: Complete the attached form by Wednesday Oct. 31st , 2012

Projects should meet the following criteria:

1. The title of the project must be clearly visible on the display. The display may include charts, posters, graphs, diagrams, models, written explanations, materials used, and photographs.

2. Display must include the student’s name, grade, teacher’s name, and project category.

3. Projects must be able to stand on their own. 4. All materials must be on display or able to sit right in front of it. There will be no

wall space available to be used with displays. 5. Project size cannot be larger than 24 inches front to back, 36 inches wide, and 60

inches high 6. Experiments that harm organisms will not be permitted.

Bringing projects to school and taking them home:

1. Students should bring their projects to school on Wednesday November 7th, 2012 to share with their own class.

2. Projects will be set up on Wednesday November 7th, 2012. 3. Classes will be given an opportunity to view the projects on Thursday and Friday 4. The public will be invited to view these activities from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. that

evening. PTA is providing refreshments. (: 5. Student can take their projects home at their teacher’s discretion.

Awards: A certificate and ribbon will be awarded to every student who participates in the Ballenger Creek Elementary Science Fair. Questions: Please contact cathy.lepine@fcps.org Help Needed!
