He was scheduled to have his insurance start up again, but before it could begin, he became quite ill with a high fever, body aches and inability to swallow. He called the clinic and learned he qualified to be seen. Graham was seen because we have support from people like you who believe that healthcare should be available for all, young and old alike. Graham shares his thoughts;

“Thank you to FHPC for seeing me when I didn’t have insurance. My health insurance from college ended and my new insurance hadn’t started yet when I became really sick. Luckily, I was able to get an appointment and get on antibiotics for terrible tonsillitis. I’m so grateful that the Clinic was available for people like me.”

—Graham, Crystal Lake, IL

YOU make care for Graham possibleGraham is a third year college student and has always had private health insurance, but circumstances left him uninsured this summer.

Letter from our E.D., Suzanne HobanWhat new words have you added to your regular vocabulary in the last 12 months? Pandemic? Aerosolized? Superspreader? N95?

And yet, there’s one word that I’ve used more this year than ever before – grateful.

I’ve always been grateful for the support our community has given to the clinic and the people we are privileged to serve. But this year has been different, and has taken my gratitude to an entirely new level. Within days of the shutdown in March, I spent most of my time on the phone talking with people who had one question: “What can I do to help?” Masks. Food. Donations. Gift cards. Lunches for our stressed staff. Thank you notes. Toilet paper. All of these came because so many people uttered those six words.

Because of your generosity, we were able to provide our patients with bags of food, hygiene supplies, medications, gift cards to local businesses, accurate information, accessible medical care (with the addition of our first Telehealth program) and most of all, hope. We were here for our patients, because you were here for us. Every. Day.

We’ve added many new words to our language this year. Words are powerful. I know the power of unleashing 6 small words. They can change the world. And I’m grateful.

Singleton Family McDonald’s — McHenry CountySusan Singleton was intrigued by the clinic whenever Joe Cicero and Tina Bree talked on the radio about the Care4 Breast Cancer 5k Run/Walk. Joe introduced Susan to the clinic and shortly after she met staff members and took a tour. She became a sponsor of the 5k and arranged to have placements in her five Singleton Family McDonald’s restaurants advertising the race. She and her sisters continue to be hands-on with promoting the Care4 5k and educating people about the clinic. We appreciate their amazing support and friendship!

Dick and Yvonne Ahrens — WoodstockDick and Yvonne Ahrens were introduced to the clinic in 2008 and shortly after Dick joined the Board of Directors. They have both been very involved in our annual galas and race/walks through their attendance, volunteerism and sponsoring of the events. Dick and Yvonne have volunteered many times through the years in many capacities ranging from scanning medical records to bartending! They readily talk with others about the clinic and share their passion for it. We are grateful for their selfless contribution to support our mission and patients!

Laura Townsend — Crystal LakeAlbums of Hope was founded in July 2010 by Laura Townsend of Crystal Lake through her love of her husband, after he was diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer. Albums of Hope provides pocket-sized photo albums to those who need a lift during difficult times. Laura has provided albums for our patients and she has been at our Care4 Breast Cancer 5k to hand them out. We are touched to have these special gifts to give to our patients in need. www.albumsofhope.com

FOUNDATIONSBecause the Clinic does not rely on government funding for its operations, we appreciate the tremendous community support we receive.We also appreciate the businesses and organizations that have partnered with us to help deliver services to those who would otherwise go without. Some of our community partners who have provided funding, services, or in-kind contributions from the period July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019.

“I support FHPC because of its 24 year history of promoting excellence in people, ideas and actions to provide the best healthcare possible to family, friends and neighbors who are without medical insurance. Moreover, I’m assured it’s in the most fiscally responsible way possible as recognized by their receiving high ratings on Charity Navigator and Guide Star.”

— Sally Stachniak, Woodstock, IL

“How fortunate we are to have FHPC in our community to help treat the uninsured. It really hit home to realize those in need could be my neighbor. For me, charity begins at home, a perfect reason to give to FHPC!”
