Introduction

I’m delighted to welcome you to the centenary celebrations for Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup.

The hospital has a rich history dating back to 1917, when pioneering surgery was undertaken on troops who had been facially disfigured during the First World War.

Today, following significant redevelopment, the hospital now offers state-of-the-art facilities and services and is fast developing a reputation for the provision of the very best services in key areas of healthcare.

We hope you enjoy the celebrations today, which are being held, not only to celebrate the centenary of the hospital, but also to mark the contribution of so many people in the life of the hospital.

I would also like to personally thank everyone who has come together to make this community celebration possible, including many volunteers and local organisations who have all contributed by giving their time, expertise or financial support to help make this event a success.

Thank you

Andy Trotter Chair, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust
