Carol Coe-Vokes President, Broker-Owner,GRI I-II-III, ABR, CRS, WCR

Since 1981, Carol Coe-Vokes has been a major player in the Cadillac real estate market. With her outgoing personality and unique style, she owns any room she enters.

For Carol, sales was a natural choice, not just because shes perfectly suited for the job, but also because shes a Cadillac legacy.

My parents owned Admirals Pet Shop in Cadillac, said Carol. So it was pretty natural for me to go into sales.

Carol founded Advance Realty in 1981 in the midst of a booming Cadillac housing market, and it almost immediately became a family effort.

My husband, my brother, and one of my daughters were licensed agents during that period, she said. Sales were booming.

Nearly 36 years later, Carols sales are still booming, even in a sluggish economy.

It takes a special person to succeed in sales, she said. We have a built-in drive for success and for life itself. It also takes perseverance and a dedicated work ethic to survive down timesespecially the last four years.

Despite continued success, however, Carol has become a one woman show and points to her guiding principles and unique skill set as part of the recipe for success.

I think Ive been so successful because my personal marketing and advertising skills set me apart from others, she said. I also pride myself on my

professionalism, honesty and integrity. Ive been in sales for 36 years with continued referrals. I think this speaks to my knowledge and integrity.

While loved by her customers, Carol has also been honored by her colleagues.

Carol began the Womens Council of Realtors Cadillac Chapter and was President for the first two years; also in 1987 Carol was named Realtor of the Year by her local Board of Realtors which was truly special.

Carol can be found in her office on Mitchell Street in downtown Cadillac, is available by phone at (231) 775-1368, and you can view her listings online at www.advancerealty.com.

Affordable Flooring is more than just floors and floor coverings.

It recently expanded its sales to include furniture.

That addition, along with referrals from previous customers, have led this Cadillac family-owned and operated business to experience a particularly strong year.

But while owner Bernie Gehrke is proud of this accomplishment, Affordable Floorings main goal to ensure customer satisfaction with both the product and the service. The business thrives on customer and professional referrals, says Gehrke, whos part of the entire sales process.

Because this is a small, locally owned and operated business, customers have the benefit of working with the same salesperson throughout the process, Gehrke says. Any questions or changes to orders can be quickly accommodated. We take pride in our relationships, as well as our product.

Customer interest led to Affordable Flooring offering furniture. It now carries everything from bunk beds to recliners and from high-top bar tables to convertible coffee tables.

We have had positive customer feedback in regards to quality as well as our maintained affordable pricing, Gehrke says of the furniture sales.

Gerhrke and his family moved to Cadillac years ago to experience the Up North lifestyle. His family has a history in the flooring business, and he wanted to bring his professional experience and his passion for sales to an area where he also could envision his

family flourishing and enjoying the great outdoors. Our business is unique because it is family owned

and operated, he says. We take a lot of pride in putting our family name and practice behind our business.

Gerhkes focus in this business is on setting the vision, marketing, finances/budgeting, maintaining a strong family culture, sales, achieving customer satisfaction and creating a business that grows with the community.

As a family business, I am responsible for the success or failure of the company, he says.

Affordable Flooring is located at 203 Bell Ave. in Cadillac. Call 231-775-3346.

    Lake to Lake Transportation, LLC

    231-775-3081

The idea for Belle Oakes was simple for Joel and Esther Nederhood: they wanted to create an environment where individuals could live out the best years of their lives, in a safe, secure, Christian environment. Belle Oakes opened in October of 2003 with their philosophy of patient centered care rooted in their deep faith. Today they have grown into three additional thriving businesses, which fill previously unmet needs in our community.

A need for a personal care agency with high standards that would be affordable and committed to its clients 24/7, led to the creation of a separate personal care agency for the tenants of Belle Oakes and the rest of the community.

It then became obvious that the tenants of Belle Oakes would need a safe, reliable form of transportation to bring them to medical appointments. Lake to Lake Transportation was formed to meet that need for Belle Oakes tenants as well as the surrounding community.

From there, Esther saw a purpose for expanding the communitys rehabilitation options. The Nederhoods set out to build a state-of-the-art outpatient therapy facility for people of all ages, with an aquatic center. Bella Rose was opened in 2011, right down the street from Belle Oakes.

Belle Oakes opened an additional wing in November, 2012, which increased the number of apartments by 50%. Blue Lagoon has expanded services to include One on One care for Traumatic Brain and Spinal Injured, as well as, Home and Community Based Waiver Clients which has doubled the employment for personal care staff in the last two years.

Lake to Lake is now covering most counties in Lower Michigan and Bella Rose has doubled its clientele in the last two years as well. Over the last three
