Mini Mini Spikers Activity #533FD Parks and Recreation introduces Mini Mini Spikers! This NEW program is a great way to get your three or fouryear old to experience the fundamentals of volleyball. Parents are encouraged (but not required) to be onthe ‘mini’ volleyball court to help guide and teach their child throughout the hour. During the first 20 minutesparticipants will learn basic volleyball drills, skills, and rules. The remaining time will be spent playing an “official”volleyball game.

A Night with My Hero Activity #535This NEW once a year special event is for Moms (and mother figures) and their son(s) to get that ‘extra’ timetogether with a little twist. Boys ages 4 – 10 years old are invited to enjoy this night of fun! This evening will havethe sons dressing like their favorite ‘Super Hero’ (Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, etc) and the momsdressing as a ‘Damsel in Distress’. The evening will consist of dancing, group activities, video game challenges,snacks, desserts, and music! Join us at Citizen’s Central for an evening that your will remember forever.A professional photographer will be onsite to capture your special day! Volleyball Fundamentals Clinic Activity #556Get a head start on the Youth Coed Volleyball season by signing your son or daughter up to learn/brush up ontheir volleyball skills. Daddy Daughter Dance Activity #554 or #555This once in a year opportunity allows fathers, grandfathers, or father figures the chance to take theirdaughters or granddaughters out for an evening of fun, food, and dancing! In addition to dancing there willbe door prizes, refreshments, and munchies. A professional photographer will be available to capture amemorable picture. Preregistration is required and space is LIMITED for each day... so be sure to invite thatspecial little girl early. Additional sisters are $15.

Novice Track & Field Activity #603Our track program is very popular for boys and girls Kindergarten through 6th grade. Youth will learn the basicsof track and field through practice sessions held on Monday evenings from 6-7 pm at Phillips Middle Schooltrack. Practices will consist of conditioning, stretching, short sprints, long runs, relays, shuttle relays, long jump,and shot put. Practices will lead up to a “mini track meet”.

The Parks FoundationThe Parks Foundation was formed in2002 to strengthen and enrich the parksystem in Fort Dodge by providingsupplementary funds. These funds willbe used for trees, shrubs, flowers,signage and other enhancements plusmonies for long-range planning andlandscape design. Members of theFoundation include: Jeff Becker, JaneGibb, Carolyn Brandt, Dr. Matt Maggio,Dan Garst, Katie Kregel, Tim Holmstrom,Dennis Milefchik, Mary Jo Wagner(Chair) and Tom Sullivan.

The Parks CommissionThe Parks Commission governs rules andregulations for use of parks, as well asrecreational facilities and recreationprograms. The group serves to advisecouncil on the needed facilities toprovide open space, such as parks,playgrounds and community facilitiesand for other forms of recreation. Thegroup also updates and revise plans asrequired, sets fees for recreationalprograms and makes recommendations

to council for changes in Parks,Recreation and Forestry. Members ofthe Commission include: Steve Daniel,Mark Campbell, Mary Jo Wagner,Michael Payne, Ashley O’Brion, DennisPilcher and Kirk Yung.

Friends of Oleson Park ZooFriends of Oleson Park Zoo is a non-profitcharitable organization that was formedin 2002. The "Friends" own the animals inthe zoo. They acquire new animals aswell as sell surplus animals. The zoo ismaintained by donations andmemberships to Friends of Oleson ParkZoo. Memberships are $15 for individuals,$25 for families, and $100 for businesses.If you are interested in becoming amember, simply send your name,address, and payment to:

PARK RULES & REGULATIONSThe parks are open from sunrise to sunset every day. We need your help tokeep our parks safe and enjoyable for all...so please keep the following inmind when using your parks: • Please drive only on established roadways • Fires are only allowed in designated areas and trash must be picked

up at all times. • No dogs shall run at large in any city park. Leashes of no more than 6

feet should be used. • Please respect trees, shrubs and plants in all parks. • Please report acts of vandalism to police or FD Parks & Recreation at

576-7237.

To Reserve A Cabin:Reservations can be made at FD Parks & Recreation in City Hall. We begin taking reservationsfor 2013 the first business day in January. WE DO NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS OVER THE PHONE!Reservations are $50.00 for Snell Crawford & Hydro-Electric, and $75 for Loomis & Oleson. A$100 key deposit required upon signing an agreement for the requested date of all cabinrentals. Contact FD Parks & Recreation at 576-7237 for further information.
