    Just two hours north of Philadelphia, Spring Hills Farm is an exquisite countryside retreat with hills,firs, ponds, and grasses as far as the eye can see...an amazing place to paint. The farms 400 acres

    as well as individual studios and gazebos allow the artist to gather important visual information. Allmeals are homemade, organic, and served in the warmth and hospitality of the Hulls family farm.

    Shuttle service within the farm is included. Trip includes instruction, art history, meals, bunkhouseaccommodations, and many extras. Transportation to and from farm is $50 and must be registered

    expert! Join Teaching Artist and experienced ceramic artist Claire Rodgers on an informative and funwalking tour through the PMAs pottery collection, from 3000 BC to the American pottery from the

    early 20th century. Learn to look at the ceramic works of art from a potters point of view: How wasthe piece made, glazed, and fired? What were the design decisions of these ancient potters? You willfind that everything made today has been informed and inspired by those before us. Students willmeet at the West entrance of the PMA. Museum admission is not included.

    Doylestown Delights with Carol Stirton-Broad: Moravian Pottery & Tile Works, Mercer Museum &Fonthill CastleSat., Nov. 2, 9 am-5 pm$102 M/$121 NMCharming Doylestown, PA is steeped in artistic history. Experience a few of its many cultural gemswith Teaching Artist Carol Stirton-Broad. We will start with a one-hour interpreter-led tour of theFonthill Castle, home of Henry Chapman Mercer, archaeologist, anthropologist, ceramist, scholar,and antiquarian. Designated a National Historic Landmark, Fonthill attracts over 30,000 visitorsannually to view Mercer's famed Moravian tiles that were produced during the American Arts & CraftsMovement. After a hands-on Day of the Dead activity inspired by our tour, well move along to theMoravian Pottery and Tile Works for a tour of its collection of tiles and original installations. Followingthe tour, the group will enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants in downtown Doylestown. Next upis an orientation and self-guided tour of the Mercer Museum, which features 50,000 artifacts,

    ranging from clock making tools to a Conestoga wagon. Tour of Fonthill is not fully accessible; pleasecontact staff in advance if you have mobility issues. Tuition includes transportation to and from theArt Center and admission for all three sites. Lunch is not included.

    Philadelphia Museum of Art-Perelman Building & Main Collection with Deirdre MurphyFri., Oct. 18, 10 am-4 pm$91 M/$108First well enjoy a private viewing of works especially selected for our group found in the AbigailRebecca Cohen Study Room of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs in the Perelman Building. Then

    This class is designed to acquaint students with the joy of painting when working from a still life orphotos. We will discuss the technical aspects of painting materials, but will focus on the basicfoundation of good painting: drawing, values, edges, and color. Demos and individual instructionprovided.
