This program provides them with the skills they need to feel safe and confident in stressful situations, household mishaps and in the event of an emergency. This course is for children aged 10-13 years who will find themselves at home, alone, for short periods of time.

Registration • Pre-registration is necessary for all programs, unless otherwise stated. • If a class does not have the minimum number of participants registered, 3 days prior to the beginning of the class, the class will be cancelled.

Payment • All registrations require payment and are accepted on a first come, first served basis. • The Recreation Department accepts Cash, Cheque, Debit Card, Mastercard and Visa. • GST & HST are included in the price of Adult programs. There is no GST or HST charged on children’s programs.

Refunds • No fee will be charged for persons withdrawing from a recreation program prior to the start of the program. • A charge of 50% will be charged for persons withdrawing from a program after the program has started. • A full refund will be issued in the case of a medical issue. • A 60% Administration charge will be levied against deposits for Facility Bookings, if a refund is required.

The City of Rossland has a variety of building spaces available for rent. Whether you are planning a meeting, a birthday party, special event, festival, wedding or tournament, Rossland may have just the facility for you.

Junior Bantam Tackle Football - Rossland Bears Open to all youth 11-13 years old born in 1997, 98 and 99 who are interested in learning the fundamentals of football - from catching and throwing to blocking and tackling in a fun and safe environment within a team atmosphere. The 2010 Season will begin mid August with 2-3 practices a week. The regular season will begin in September and run through October with 2 practices and at least 1 game per week on Thursday or Saturday. The cost for the 2010 season is $160 and includes registration, insurance, equipment rental and lots of fun. There are opportunities for optional June practices and a Skill Competition/ Controlled Scrimmage on Sunday, June 27 from 2-6 pm with players from other communities. Sunrise 1 Program Sunrise 1 Program Sunrise 1 Program Sunrise 1 Program with Nicole Zimmer, ARCT, RMT, MYC Instructor A great, 10-week music program for you and your child! If you and your child have taken SUNRISE classes before, this is a new program with new ‘friends’ and still some of the old ones. If

you and your child have not taken a music class before, this is also for you! Your child will receive his/her own book with a puppet friend and a new CD. SUNRISE brings you learning through singing, rhythm, and games/crafts with Buddy Croak, a saxophone playing frog, and Teddy who helps with rhythm and counting. This music curriculum develops your child’s listening, awareness, fine motor skills, social interactions, confidence and attention span. Join your child each week while they sing, play and learn!

T-Ball ! with Pam Shirley T-Ball is the entry sport to baseball and softball for young players. Parents are encouraged to participate. Skill building games such as base recognition, nerf ball toss/ catch, freeze ball tag and nerf tee-ball batting are combined to help children to progress to a tee-ball game in a fun, non-competitive environment. The elimination of pitching allows children to participate without the fear of being hit by a pitched ball. Tee Ball develops the primary baseball skills of hitting, running, fielding and throwing. Children will require a water bottle and running shoes. Glove is not mandatory.

TumbalinaTumbalinaTumbalinaTumbalina with Pam Shirley Tumbalina is a diverse program for children between ages 0-4 years. The class includes learning about gymnastics apparatus in a fun, unstructured environment. There will be several circuits set up for children to explore with their parents and teacher assisting, at times. This 45 minute fun activity session will encourage large motor activity and hand eye co-ordination while learning how to manoeuvre over gymnastics apparatus in a fun, beginner format. The last 15 minutes of the program will involve a song and movement circle that encourages self expression, spatial awareness and large motor skills for children and parents to participate in.
