Taking Flight in San Diego and Beyond: Council President Cole at the 7th Annual Central San Diego Black Chamber of Commerce Gala “Take Flight: Honoring African Americans in Aviation and Space” where Thella F. Bowens, former President/CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority received the Lifetime Leadership Award.

Tis the Season of Giving: Council President Cole collaborated with Councilmembers Gómez and Cate to collect rice bags for San Diego Asian Youth Organization’s 8th Annual Thanksgiving Rice Drive. The organization collected over 36,000 pounds of rice to distribute to hundreds of families and senior citizens in need.

• Father Joe’s Villages Thanksgiving Day 5K | Thursday, November 23rd | 7:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. | Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. On Thanksgiving morning, join over 7,000 participants to walk, run, or sprint through beautiful Balboa Park for a great cause. The 5K also offers live music, games, Disney-inspired characters and a craft beer garden. Proceeds help Father Joe’s Villages prepare and serve nearly one million meals to our neighbors who are homeless.
