TRANSCRIPT
The Lord. That is the primary reason the Apostle Paul was filled with joy. He understood well the blessings the Lord had for him. We do too, and with Paul, we rejoice in the forgiveness and eternal life that the Lord won for us.
There is another reason Paul could rejoice. In the verse just before our theme verse Paul said, “Yes, and I ask you, loyal yokefellow, help these women who have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life” (Philippians 4:3). Paul had much help in his gospel ministry, and he was grateful in the Lord for it.
At Winnebago Lutheran Academy, we have much help, too. That is what this brief issue of the Anchor is about. It is a thank you to all who support the ministry of this Academy. It is a thank you for living your faith.
Yours in Christ,
Phil Janke Coordinator of Recruitment and Communications

CHRIST WE PROCLAIM. 2019 WELS NATIONAL CHORAL FEST
WLA was privileged to host the WELS National Choral Festival on November 8 - 10. Over 500 students from around the country lifted their voices in song to our Lord and Savior. Thank you to all of the Congregations, Host Families, Volunteers, WELS Area Lutheran High School and Prep School Choirs, Directors, WLA Parents, WLA Staff, and WLA Faculty for all the help in putting on this event. To God be praise!

EXTRA CURRICULAR LEADERSThis is incredible. The following list is the people it takes to support the extra curricular activities at WLA. (This doesn’t include all the families who are involved in Booster Club and volunteer at various events and concerts throughout the year who are too numerous to list!) Please note the names in italics--those are the people who do not teach at WLA yet dedicate many hours towards serving this ministry. To say “Thank you!” is not nearly enough.
Viking Council, in addition to helping plan other school events throughout the year, hosts two fundraisers per month for students: Thingy Thursday and Mission Monday. A fun food item or student event is the focus for these special days. Shamrock shakes, ice cream sundaes, and caramel apples are just a couple of the items sold this year. Pictured are the members of Viking Council preparing shamrock shakes for Thingy Thursday!
Viking Council begins the school year by welcoming the incoming class of freshmen to campus for the Freshmen Lock-In. The Council plans dozens of activities both on and off campus for the freshmen to become familiar with WLA, its students, and faculty.
Viking Council values a continued growth in servant leadership skills. In early November, the Viking Council members were able to attend a WELS student council leadership forum at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School to share with other Lutheran schools what Viking Council is doing at WLA and to collaborate with the other schools for organizing new future events at WLA.
Viking Council values the community around WLA and the Fond du Lac area. To show their continued dedication to their WLA neighbors, they organized a day to rake leaves in the community. Being community minded will continue to be a high priority for Viking Council.
