Whiteshell Provincial Park Falcon Lake Lakeshore Campground Discover the wonders of the Whiteshell Whiteshell ushing rivers, clear deep lakes, warm sandy beaches, granite under your feet, and the fresh scent of jack pine - that's just the beginning of a great getaway in Whiteshell Provincial Park. One of Manitoba’s premier playgrounds, it combines the wilds of the boreal forest with the comforts of home. Take yourself away from it all by trail, road or water. Do you know where the name “Whiteshell” originates? What would you do if you got lost in the boreal forest? Park interpreters will answer these questions and more at their programs. After darkness falls, join them for a play or film at the amphitheatre or sit by the roar of a campfire. When morning breaks, the interpreters will be ready to take you along the many hiking trails of the area. Watch for event posters to find out which programs will be offered during your stay. Swimming, sailing, tennis, hiking, or a game of golf at Falcon Lake—one of the best 18-hole courses in the province—are just a few of the activities you can enjoy in the park. Tennis, swimming, horseback riding, miniature golf, lawn bowling, baseball, biking, fishing and boating can be shared by people of all ages. On the shores of Falcon Lake, the campground is only a short walk from town services like restaurants, gift shop, laundromat, grocery store, doctor’s office, deli and bakery. Let the many trails lead you away from the beaten path to the park’s special places. Falcon Creek self-guiding trail waits to be explored. Part of the Trans-Canada Trail, the South Whiteshell Multi-use Trail connects the area for the enjoyment of hikers, runners, cyclists and cross-country skiers. Tour the water by canoeing the popular Caddy Lake or Mantario routes. Make the most of summer’s special events such as Family Fishing Weekend the second weekend in June, the third weekend in July, boasts Canada’s Parks Day and the annual flea market on the August long weekend. Before leaving make sure your fire is completely out. Be careful with your cigarettes, cigars and pipe ashes. Crush them thoroughly before discarding. Never toss them from a vehicle. Please! Do not litter. Be sensitive to wildlife. Bears can be dangerous and should not be fed. Food must be stored away from your campsite, preferably in a locked vehicle, to avoid attracting hungry animals. Do not store food in your tent. •Warm clothing is needed for cool nights. The use of insect repellent will add to your comfort. Learn to recognize and avoid poisonous plants such as poison ivy. •In case of injury or illness contact a Campground Attendant or Park Patrol Officer. They can assist you to reach medical help. Canoeists and hikers travelling in backcountry areas should advise a friend of their intended destination and anticipated length of trip. Backcountry camping is only allowed at designated campsites. • It is illegal to use or transport elm firewood.
