The Year 12s celebrated their last day with a Chapel Service last Friday after a fun day on Thursday, culminating in a giant water fight (where many teachers agreed to have buckets of water poured over their heads). It was lovely to see our 12s dressed formally for the breakfast on the lawn. Teachers prayed with groups of students and then enjoyed a hot breakfast with waffles! (Thanks Mrs Dash).
It was a beautiful service with talks from Mr Coffey, Mr Burgess and our Head Boy and Girl, Jeroinae Tasi and Lyssa Lai. Many tears were shed. The Year 12s sang a boisterous mashup for their Leavers Song and the students made an Hon-our Guard as our Leavers left the church.
We pray for the ATAR students as they complete their exams and look forward to seeing all students back for their Graduation Night on the 18 November. The school will miss this year group immensely and we look forward to seeing what impact they will have on the world as we send them off.
Praise Points:
For a wonderful breakfast and Chapel Service for the Yr 12s
For an excellent P/S Sports Carnival
For the excitement of getting photos done
Prayer Points: For the Yr 11s and 12s as they prepare for exams
For a quick recovery of those who are sick
For families who are struggling in some way- that they will sense Jesus is with them
The Year 10 class spent last Friday on a Work Studies excursion to the Skillswest Expo followed by a visit to the wonderful Construction Futures Centre in Belmont. It was a great opportunity at the Expo to explore different career options and collect information on training and employment. The Construction Futures Centre is a lot of fun where students get to experience the construction industry with hands on exhibits including virtual and augmented reality. The two most popular occupations amongst our students were interior designer and plant operator. Many of our Year 10 students applied for Construction Training Fund scholarship in Building & Construction for year 11 and 12. After interviews, we are pleased to report that the following students received a scholarship: Noku Marufu, Nondu Tshapo, Aaron Mucho, Joshua Privado and Leon Chitiyo. Congratulations to these students!
This year, competition was very high for VETis (Vet in Schools) courses at South Metro TAFE. Therefore, we were thrilled to find that a number of our students had been successful in very popular courses. Congratulations to Ethan Shannon (Hospitality), Mitchell Blesing (Automotive), Charlie Heggers (Autonomous Workplace Operations), Emich Lemi Sefo and Joshua Privado (Bricklaying), Hannah Luscombe (Preparation for Health & Nursing Certificate IV), Hae wee Paw (Community Services – Early Childhood), Nixon Rupa (Painting and Decorating), Nondu Tshado (Electrotechnology) and Shayla Winwood (Aviation – Cabin Crew). We are so pleased that Dale is represented across such a large number of courses. Well done to the students who weren’t successful, but went through the tricky application process, some of whom had to be interviewed as part of the selection process.
