Catechists Prayer Loving God, Creator of all things, you call us to be in relationship with you and others. Thank you for calling me to be a catechist, for the opportunity to share with others what you have given to me. May all those with whom I share the gift of faith discover how you are present in all things.
May they come to know you, the one true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. May the grace of the Holy Spirit guide my heart and lips, so that I may remain constant in loving and praising you. May I be a witness to the Gospel and a minister of your truth. May all my words and actions reflect your love. Amen.

Welcome Everyone No matter what your past or present status is in the Catholic Church, your current family or marital status, your past or current religious affiliation, your personal history, age, background or ethnicity, you are invited, accepted and most welcome at St. Ferdinand Parish. We hope Christ will bring fullness into your life, and that we provide you with information and spiritual support.
Parish Mission Saint Ferdinand Catholic Church is a large, vibrant parish that has a tradition of serving God’s people with the warmth of a small parish. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, we prayerfully seek to serve God by the way we worship, celebrate the sacraments, witness to the Gospel, and serve one another. We are committed to live our Christian life as a community of hospitality, spiritual enrichment, and service through works of compassion, mercy, and evangelization. We are called to proclaim, teach and model the good news of Jesus Christ. We pledge our time, talent, and treasures for the fulfillment of our parish mission.

Born to Eternal Life Please pray for the souls and family of
Cheryl Lang daughter of Kenneth & Christine Meszar, and Marlene McFarland wife of Regis McFarland.
May their souls and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, continue their journey to eternal life in the heavenly kingdom. Amen.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Inquiry Sessions
It’s not too late to join the RCIA inquiry sessions. The journey of becoming Catholic, whether you are baptized in another Christian denomination or are non-baptized, meets Tuesday evenings from 7:30 – 9:30 pm in the
Holy Family Room of the Education Building. Call Kathy Bachik at 724.776.1357 or email her at [email protected] for more information or to register. Tuesday Morning Contemplative Prayer Learning to Enjoy the Presence of God
You are invited to pray with the contemplative prayer group every Tuesday morning at 9:30 am, starting September 18, in the Holy Family Room in the Adult Education Wing. The programs during our
first few weeks together are ideal for the new seeker, because we will hear introductory teachings about the two main prayer practices that help us have a closer relationship with God. The first practice is Lectio Divina, a way of gently and slowly pondering a passage from Scripture, and the second is the quiet prayer called Contemplative Prayer. Contemplative prayer is the still & quiet enjoyment of the presence of God. It is based on the teachings of Jesus (Matthew 6:6) and the mystics of the church who proceeded him. These mystics include the Desert Fathers and Mothers, St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Avila and Thomas Merton. Contemplative prayer goes beyond asking God for help, or offering praise, or repentance. It invites us into an even deeper relationship with God because we put aside all our thoughts and needs and simply BE with God who made and sustains us, with our presence being our gift to God at that moment. Please arrive 10 minutes early in order to be settled by 9:30 am. Total time in prayer is about 25 minutes with a short video teaching to follow allowing us to end by 11:00 am.
Alyssa Miller &
Jaryd Herbert Thursday, September 20, 2018
Dear Lord, grant that they may lead a life together that is filled with an abundance of laughter, a limitless measure of love and contentment, and a deep and abiding faith in You. Amen.

Our journey begins on Monday, September 17, in the Holy Family Room at 9:30 am or 7:30 pm. Our families, friends, neighbors, Church, world, and our good God, needs us to be compassionate followers of Christ. As followers we will learn to heal the broken hearted, listen to others pain, gain the courage to speak truth to those in power, live in a manner that benefits the well being of everyone, not marginalize anyone, explore how our hearts will open ourselves to one another, to all living beings, and to the earth. Who Do You Say That I Am? – Faith is not lived in a vacuum. In fact, so much about our faith seeks to unite us as a community of believers. The celebrations of the Sacraments, for instance, are an opportunity for gathering as people of faith to share in the life of Christ that draws us together as his sisters and brothers. Even a Sacrament that is celebrate alone, like reconciliation, restores unity among the people of God which is broken by our sinfulness. Yet, while we support each other in faith, we can speak for others about our desire to follow God. At Mass we announce, “I confess to almighty God,” and we profess, “I believe in one God,” in order to make manifest the faith in our hearts. Thankfully, these words echo with all those gathered around us to remind us that we are never alone in this journey ever closer to God. On Mission for The Church Alive! is an opportunity for us to be confirmed in our faith so that we can confidently proclaim that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. At the same time, it is a call to unite us more closely to God and others to strengthen and grow the Church. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.
