Israel 2020 Trip Itinerary Day 1 – Monday – 28 September

Depart Perth on your Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong. After some time in transit, board your onward Cathay Pacific flight bound for Tel Aviv.

Day 2 – Tuesday – 29 September Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport . Tour of Neot Kedumim Biblical Reserve. A wilderness reserve in the heart of

Israel that provides all visitors with a great image of what biblical Israel would have looked like. See how village life worked and participate in a live sheep herding excercise.

Stop in Joppa, home of the ancient sea port (exit point for Jonah) and see the traditional location of Simon the Tanner’s house where Peter stayed in during the earliest days of Christianity.

Proceed to Netanya and check into the Seasons Hotel.

Day 3 – Wednesday – 30 September Drive accross the coastal plain of ancient Israel. See the unbelievable Roman aqueducts. Visit the magnificent port city of Caesarea Maritima built

by Herod the Great. See one of the most beautiful sights in the whole Mediterranean as crystal clear blue waters lap against the 2000 year old man made deep harbour port of Herod the Great.

Visit the Nazareth village and see what life in Jesus' hometown was like in the first century.

Visit the Church of the Annunciation which houses Mary's grotto, the traditional site where Mary heard from the Angel Gabriel.

Drive to the top of Mount Carmel. See the land of Israel like nowhere else. From this lofty place you can take in the width and depth of this amazing place.

Spend some time celebrating the showdown between Elijah and the prophets of Baal.

Drive into the jewel of Israel... the Galilee. Spend the night at the newly remodeled Gai Beach Resort just inside Tiberius.

Day 4 – Thursday – 01 October Enjoy a cruise across the Sea of Galilee in a traditional

wooden sailing boat. While on board enjoy a time of reflection and communion as we experience something we can only read about in the pages of the Gospels.

At Nof Ginosar Kibbutz, visit the peerless museum housing a first century fishing boat typical of those described in the New Testament.

See the hillside where the Sermon on the Mount and the feeding of the 5,000 would have taken place. Visit the beautiful grounds of the church nearby that commemorates the giving of the Beatitudes.

Visit Tabgha, the site of the miracle of the fishes and loaves. Explore the centre of Jesus’ ministry at Capernaum and see the remains of

the synagogue where he preached. From here you can get a clear picture of what life was like for Jesus and the earliest disciples, some of which lived in this village.

Be blown away by the beauty of Tel Dan National Park. This park combines a lush nature reserve with a biblical archaeological park. See the ancient mythological site where the Romans believed one could enter into hades.

Day 5 – Friday – 02 October Depart the Galilee and drive to visit the Hospitaller Castle

of Belvoir (‘Fair View’ in French) one of the best preserved Crusader Castles in Israel, for an amazing outlook over Northern Israel.

See the ancient city of Jericho as you descend from Jerusalem into the Jordan valley.

Visit the caves of Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. See the place from which John the Baptist called out to Israel to repent and be baptized.

Go to the second lowest lake in the world and have a float in the Dead Sea.

Watch the sunset while resting in the palatial David Resort, overlooking the Dead Sea.

Day 6 – Saturday – 03 October Today the Feast of the Tabernacles will be

celebrated all across Israel. This is a special day of thanksgiving in the Jewish calendar.

Experience the UNESCO World Heritage site known as Masada. Ascend to this mountaintop palace used by kings and rebels from the time of David until the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70. This is a breathtaking, once in a lifetime experience not to be missed.

Enjoy a special day in Beersheba commemorating the achievements of the Australian soldiers in World War One. See the magnificent Park of the Australian Soldier. Get an overview of the main battlefield sites in the area and a review of the Charge of the Light Horse. Visit the new ANZAC museum in Beer Sheva.

Also, while in Beersheba, see the well dug by Abraham’s son Isaac. See the ancient village built by the patriarchs.

Walk into the Elah Valley, site of the famous battle between David and Goliath. Pick up some smooth stones and see the battle unfold in the only place such a fight could have taken place.

Travel through Beith Shemesh where the Ark of the Covenant rested and ascend to the holy city of Jerusalem.

Spend the next four nights at the Grand Court Hotel in Jerusalem.

Day 7 – Sunday – 04 October Start your day with a spectacular view of

Jerusalem from Mt. of Olives. Visit the Church of all Nations at the Garden of

Gethsemane. Walk through the Old City of David for a view

over the city and see the new archeological discoveries at the Kings Palace.

Travel beneath the old city as you walk the underground Herodian pilgrims route and exit at the Southern Wall excavations to see the stairs leading to the Temple Mount.

Experience the fascinating secrets of the Old City on a walking tour.

Climb the rooftops of the city, browse artifacts in a Roman shopping street, and hear about the significance of the city and its modern day complexities for the different religions.

Walk the Via Dolorosa (Stations of the Cross) until the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

Day 8 – Monday – 05 October Take an extended tour of the awe inspiring

Israel Museum. The Museum houses the art and artifacts from the biblical past. This cannot be missed.

See the Shrine of the Book with a world class display housing the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Visit the model of Jerusalem during the Second Temple period.

Experience a moving visit to Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial. Later in the afternoon visit Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity. See the

shepherds fields and let the story of Christmas come to life before your eyes. Enjoy a festive farewell dinner in an authentic middle eastern restaurant and

say goodbye to your guide.

Day 9 – Tuesday – 06 October Enjoy a free day in Jerusalem to explore on your own. There is more to see than can be described but a free day in this place is

worth the time.

Day 10 – Wednesday – 07 October Departure from Israel Transfer from Jerusalem to Ben Gurion Airport for your Cathay Pacific flight

this afternoon. Depart back to Perth with wonderful memories of a fantastic trip!

Day 11 – Thursday – 08 October Depart Hong Kong arriving back into Perth this evening.

Shared occupancy (share a room / not the bed ) All unmarried participants will be pared with a travel partner of the same sex

by the trip leader. Please make all requests known as soon as possible. If there is an odd number of people (men or women), the last participant to

register will need to pay the single supplement as they will not have anyone to share the room with.

The single supplement (cost of having your own room) will be an additional $1,525 AUD per person.

20 Participants This cost was prepared with the understanding that we will have 25+

participants on the trip. If we do not meet this goal, we will need to have at least 15 people in order to

continue on. If we take 15-19 people, we will have to pay an additional $850 AUD per

person to cover the drop in discounted airfare.

Trip Inclusions Return economy class airfares from Perth on Cathay Pacific Airlines. 8 nights hotel accommodation at some very nice hotels. Daily buffet breakfasts & dinners throughout. 8 days comprehensive sightseeing tours as outlined in the itinerary with the

services of local professional English speaking guide throughout the tour. Airport assistance, transfers, and transportation throughout in a luxury air-

conditioned coach. Entrance fees to museums and all sights as mentioned in the itinerary. Tips & gratuities throughout. Whisperer headsets to use during quiet tour times. Airport & departure taxes The services of trip leader Ryan Laden throughout. There is no cost to you to

have Ryan organize, promote, and add pastoral education throughout the trip. Educational materials will be provided closer to the trip.

Price does not include: Beverages with meals Lunches (we will stop for inexpensive lunches during transit. As such, we

cannot plan to cover these unknown costs). Optional events, sightseeing, or meals other than those in the itinerary. Single supplement (your own room – NOT shared) Transportation costs during the day 9, free day in Jerusalem. Medical / Travel insurance (proof of insurance will be required before travel). the right to amend prices accordingly. The group must travel outbound together on the same flight to qualify for

the group airfare included in this quotation. If you want to know about flying out to other destinations at the

conclusion of this trip, please ask how to do this before you make additional arrangements if you wish to enjoy the discounted group flights.
