FAIRTRADE Registration

• The Greenfield estate is included on the International Fairtrade Tea Register.

• A Social Committee (Joint body), made up of elected representatives from the estate residents, is responsible for deciding how funding is used with regard to improving facilities on the estate.

• Under the Fairtrade system, a Social Premium is levied on the cost of the tea, and this Premium is paid to the Social Committee.

• A clear audit trail exists for the Social Premium, and regular inspections ensure the integrity of the Social Premium system. Recently a new Social Centre has been built on the estate from the Social Premium money.
