FACULTY SPOTLIGHT Alicia Kowalchuk, DO, Assistant Professor, is board certified in both Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine and serves as Medical Director of three programs that provide a range of substance use disorder services: InSight, Santa Maria Hostel, and Houston’s Sobering Center. Dr. Kowalchuk received training and began her medical career in New York before joining the BCM family. She serves as CourseDirector for the first-year required Physician, Patient and Society (PPS) course, and teaches students in the family medicine clerkship. Dr. Kowalchuk serves the CDC-funded Baylor College of Medicine Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Practice & Implementation Center. Through these and other integrative behavioral health programs, Dr. Kowalchuk impacts many lives in the Houston community and beyond.

Alicia Kowalchuk, DO, Assistant Professor, is board certified in both Family Medicine and

Addiction Medicine and serves as Medical Director of three programs that provide a range

of substance use disorder services: InSight, Santa Maria Hostel, and Houston’s Sobering Center.

Dr. Kowalchuk received training and began her medical career in New York before joining

the BCM family. She serves as CourseDirector for the first-year required Physician,
