Faculty of Engineering: Report on “Three weeks Induction program” Session
2018-19
As per AICTE Guidelines, Faculty of Engineering organized its three weeks Induction program
for the students enrolled in the academic session 2018-19. The program comprised various
academic and non academic activities.
1. Students Interaction with their mentors: The advent of “Three weeks Induction program” on
August 10, 2018 brought with it opportunity for the students to assimilate the college culture. All
new comers were introduced with their mentors, here while interaction they were tried to be made
well accustomed to the rules and regulations of the college.
2. Presentation about FoE and University: Mr. Manish Dhingra, HoD, Mechanical Engineering
and First year coordinator, Ms. Shweta Rastogi, together with the help of PPT presentation,
gave information to the students about the University as well as the College. Students were
informed about the seminars/workshops organized by the college in the past years and along with it
students also learnt about evaluation scheme pattern of the college.

3. University Tour: B.Tech First year coordinators, Mr. Rahul Rathore and Ms. Shweta Rastogi along
with Ms. Gulista Khan (Assistant Professor Department of CSE, FoE), Ms. Neha Anand (Assistant
Professor, Department of Humanities, FoE) took new comers on University Tour. They left no stone
unturned to make students well versed with every nook and corner of the University.

4. Sports Day : New comers shown their sporty spirit by participating in various games like Volleyball,
Table Tennis, Chess.

5. Talent Hunt: Faculty of Engineering, organized Talent Hunt competition for its new comers, this
event once again gave opportunity to the new comers to exhibit their talent. The event was
coordinated by Ms. Gulista Khan, Assistant Professor, CSE, FoE and Ms. Neha Anand, Cultural
Coordinator, FoE.
6. Interaction with FoE alumnus: For this interaction session our alumnus Mohd Mahir was invited,
who acknowledged our invitation and met the new comers. He told students about his journey in
TMU, what are the tips he followed to achieve success.
7. Yoga Session : On August 14, 2018 students visited “University Indoor Stadium” there they
Interacted with the Mr. Manu Mishra, Head Physical Education, TMU who gave information to
students on “How one could lead a healthy life by practicing Yoga”

5. College Lab Visit: Mentors accompanied students for College Lab visits; students were taken on
round to make them well with of all the departments, like Assistant Registrar Office, FoE-
Examination Cell, Computer Labs, departmental Laboratories, GD Rooms, their Classes and also
college canteen.

6. Students’ Interaction Session with the Director, FoE: Prof. Ajay Ruhela, Director FoE while
addressing new comers shared his Industrial experiences with them; he gave a motivational lecture
to students and emphasized on the importance of right knowledge, right skill, right attitude, time
management, innovative practices and good habits to achieve success in life.

7. Expert Talk: Mr, Firasat Ali Zaidi (II), Joint Registrar, TMU delivered a lecture for students, on the
Time Management, Self Discipline, Human Values & Etiquettes.

8. Expert Talk: Dr Vaishali Dhingra, Joint Registrar, TMU delivered a lecture on topic “Positive
Attitude & Team-work” for the new comers, she gave live example of many successful figures who
achieved success by showing positive attitude and strong determination in life.

9. Proficiency Enhancement Sessions: Students learnt how to install ICT based learning App by
extramarks (website: extramarks.com). This App helped students to learn and understand various
topics like Application on Derivative, Chemical Reaction and Equations, Thermodynamics, Integral,
Differential, Sets, Work, Energy and Power, Chemical Kinetics, Acid Base and Salt, Motion in Plane
and Soft Skills.
Prof. Bidyut Chatterjee gave lecture to the new comers on topic “Current Electricity” using ICT
based learning App by extramarks. Under this topic he covered sub-topics like Electrostatics,
Electrodynamics, Magnetic Effect, Dipole etc.

Extempore Session: The objective of this session was to motivate students and build up
confidence in them. This session was named as JAM (JUST A MINUTE), in which students were
supposed to speak on any topic they like for only one minute. The session was coordinated by Prof,
Bidyut Chatteejee, HoD Electrical Engineering, Ms. Indu Tripathi, Assistant Professor, Department
of Humanities and Ms. Varsha Vats, Assistant Professor, Department of Humanities.

10. Extra curricular Activities like “Poster making Competition” and “Cooking without fire”:
Faculty of Engineering organized competitions like poster making and cooking without fire for its
new students in LT-5, students participated with great zeal and
enthusiasm in these competitions and exhibited their talent.

11. Expert Talk: Dr. Prerna Gupta, Psychiatrist, Psychiatry Department, Medical College, TMU,
delivered a lecture for the students on topic “Stress Management”, with its help students learnt
how to manage stress they face in their daily life.

12. Expert Talk by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor: Professor R K Mudgal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, TMU
gave management lesson to students by encompassing all Key Management components.

13. Closing Ceremony: On September 1, 2018 names of winners who participated in extracurricular
activities were announced and to do the Honors Prof. K.K.Pande, Dean Academics was invited who
distributed prizes to the winners.

# Annexure: Schedule of Induction Program (2018-19)
Note: As per the Induction program schedule, Expert Lecture by Dr Pradeep Kumar Srivastava,
(Former deputy director, CDRI Lucknow) could not be held due to last minute changes, In the
upcoming academic session, would try to reschedule expert lecture of this renowned
personality.
Learning outcomes:
1. Encourage more such sessions.
2. From next year onwards, more variety to include in extracurricular activities.
3. More evolvement and participation of all the Engineering as well as the Applied Sciences
students.
