2. Completion of ELICOS program before you start your ALG course As an international student, you may package your courses at ALG with a course from an ELICOS provider. Under a packaged program you may apply for a student visa for the combined duration of the ELICOS and ALG courses. On completing your ELICOS course and before starting your ALG course, you will need to provide evidence of your English proficiency to ALG. You cannot start ALG your course until you have successfully reached the required English proficiency level. ALG has established English pathway arrangements with ELICOS providers who will confirm that the successful completion of their courses is equivalent to either an IELTS 5.5 or 6.0. The list of English pathway partners is published on the ALG website (http://alg.edu.au/docs/alg_is_pathwaylist.pdf).

3. English Placement Tests If you are unable to provide evidence of your English language proficiency as specified in the above table, you can take an English placement test approved by ALG to demonstrate your proficiency. Offshore applicants will be able to complete the ALG in-house English proficiency test online. ALG reserves the right to require such students to undertake a further confirmatory test on-campus before the commencement of their course. For any further information, please contact our Admissions team at [email protected].

3. Australian vocational qualifications Students that provide a completed Certificate IV level qualification (or higher) from the Australian Qualifications Framework completed in Australian within two years of the commencement of your studies with ALG, are not required to provide further evidence of their English proficiency.

6. Exemption of English proficiency evidence

If you are a citizen and hold a passport from the UK, the USA, Canada (excluding Quebec), NZ or the Republic of Ireland, you are not required to present evidence of your English proficiency as part of your application.
