ANIMAL CRÈCHE KIDS PLAYPARK WONDERCAVE ACCOMMODATION Just thirty minutes Northwest of Johannesburg, set in the beautiful Kromdraai Conservancy, lies the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. This haven, which will help you escape the hustle and bustle of the city, boast game species like White Rhino, Buffalo, Hippo, Lion, Tiger, White Lion, Cheetah, Wild dogs, Bison, Giraffe and more than 20 other species of game. All told, over 650 head of game roam an area of approximately 1200 ha, which will satisfy even the most avid game viewer. Game drives with experienced registered guides may allow visitors to experience the wildlife up close, and on a night drive the fascinating nocturnal habits of animals may be observed. Or drive through the Reserve in your own vehicle - the choice is yours. Please enquire from our booking office about the applicable rates for cub interaction sessions and for more information regarding the animals in the crèche. Animal Attractions Ÿ Predator Camp: The Reserve is proud to house its pride of lions in a special erected enclosure, which conforms to the standards of the Gauteng Department of Nature Conservation. As a result these lions are fed and not allowed to hunt. They still operate as a pride and live as close to nature as possible. Three smaller camps adjacent to the main lion camp house cheetah and a pack of wild dogs (both highly endangered species) as well as white lions. Enjoy the thrilling expericnce of the lion, cheetah and wild dog feeding on Wednesday, Saturday, Sundays and Public Holidays. Ÿ Vulture Hide: Local vulture colonies have been decimated in recent years, due mostly to poisoning. We supply carcasses to the vultures, most of which come from a colony living in the Magaliesberg. They are often joined by a variety of carrion eating birds and are a delight for birdwatchers. Ÿ Breeding Centre: Visitors are also invited to visit our breeding centre, which houses Bengal tigers, Siberian Tigers, lions, and our pride and joy, White lions born at the Reserve. Ÿ Hippo Pools: Hippos are kept in an enclosure opposite the main entrance where visitors may view them up close from wooden platforms. Neck & Deck CaféPlease visit our latest erected Cafe next to the entrance / exit of the Reserve and enjoy the thrill of feeding a relatively tame giraffe at a small fee. This facility also offers you the opportunity of visiting our Breeding section (across the road) and our Water Fowl enclosure at a reduced fee.

The facility is ideal for cyclists requiring free motor vehicle parking, free ablution facilities and a cup of coffee and something small & refreshing to eat or drink.

Reptile Centre

We conduct shows on Wednesday, Saturdays, Sundays and Public holidays. These shows are very educational and the professional handler exhibits and discusses a variety of snakes.

The Reserve has eight self-catering accommodation units available. Five Log Cabins, fully equipped with DSTV and a jacuzzi, are nestled on a hilltop overlooking the Predator Camp. Three Chalets provide more rustic accommodation with gas appliances and solar-powered lighting.
