Facilitate a Presentation - Engage Your Audience
Three Important Questions I Should Know
What is the difference between a presenter and facilitator?
A presenter does all the talking and controls the presentation. The audience is mostly passive while they listen to the presenter. Skilled facilitators know they can’t engage an audience on content alone. It’s important to actively involve participants by asking questions and requesting their input in some way. This lesson will help you be a skilled facilitator.
What is the best way to read the audience?
While skilled facilitators know their facts, it’s more important to be able to gauge the audience’s level of engagement. One way to do that is to pay attention to what they are doing. Are they yawning, looking away, having side conversations? If so, you’ll want to take action to bring them back into the conversation. This lesson will show you how.
How can I make a quick connection? Those first few seconds are vital to set the right tone for the presentation or activity to come. Regardless of the number of audience members, radiating warmth and an interest in participants is always a good way to develop quick rapport. This lesson will show you how.
