All deliveries are made using our own drivers in a fleet of 5 vehicles which include a 6 metre

box truck and a 6.5 metre curtain sider, thus ensuring that your goods arrive safely and on

time to either your premises or your site address. Nova Aluminium Systems can boast a

wealth of experience which is backed up by a team of professionals ready to assist you on

your next aluminium project.

Nova Aluminium Systems Ltd are a trade only supplier providing glazing companies with fabricated aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling. All products are delivered un-glazed ready to install either to your premises or direct to site, deliveries are made using our own fleet of vehicles ensuring your products arrive safely and on schedule.

Our service is ideal for companies who may only fabricate PVCu products and do not wish to lose out on any aluminium enquiries they may receive. This service can be used as an overflow for companies who are at factory capacity and for larger companies so as not to disrupt their normal work load.

MC WALL / MC WALL + The MC Wall is a curtain wall system designed to create a dramatic but practical façade, with the option of sloped and facet-shaped glazing whilst allowing maximum light. NOVA-VENT Nova-Vent is a roof light designed for use in both domestic and commercial applications and offers a fully dressed, welded seam on all corner joints to give maximum weather performance. The self-draining system will accommodate 24mm and 28mm units and has a full polyamide thermal break which includes the purlin. Nova-Vent is perfect foropeninglightsintobothPatentGlazingandConservatories.

Operated by either manual or automatic openers and with a minimum pitch of 2o an opening of 90o can be achieved making Nova-Vent suitable for most roof light applications.

Nova-Vents are available bespoke width and height to a maximum of 1.8 sq. metres and in any RAL colour.

NOVACLAD NOVACLAD is a 3 part cosmetic extrusion system designed to clad supporting posts up to 335mm in width and any depth. The system is ideal for covering steel structural supports which can look unsightly when simply painted or covered using a formed sheet.

Novaclad allows the installer to completely encase the post and can be powdercoated giving a clean clinical finish from top to bottom. 3 extrusions lock together to form a D shape and includes a facility using 2mm aluminium sheet as a connector to the mirrored D shape allowing the opportunity to clad most sized columns. 2. Assess the Aperture for Suitability • Anydefectsanddeficienciesaroundthe structural opening? • Anybrickworkremoval?

3. Measuring the Aperture • Measurementsofwidthandheightshouldbe taken and the squareness of the aperture determined by taking diagonal measurements. The smallest measurement of width and height is used to determine manufacturing sizes. • Isasubcillrequired? • Thedifferencebetweeninternalandexternal reveal sizes should be determined.

4. Calculating the manufacturing sizes • Expansionandcontractionshouldbetakeninto consideration. • Allowancesshouldbemadewithregardtothe window or door set and building aperture tolerances. 6. Structural Loading Requirements • Whenaloadbearingsituationissuspectedor confirmed then it is essential that the system supplier’s recommendations are followed. • BayWindows–specialstructuralcalculations may be necessary. • CoupledWindows–determinethemethodtobe used, taking into account wind and dead loads, visual appearance and position of the coupling • Window/DoorLintel–reasonablestepsshould be taken to check there is a lintel or other means of support.

7. Installation – Aluminium Windows and Doors • Whereverpracticableallfoursidesoftheframe should be secured. • Coupledassembliesareusuallydeliveredtosite as separate units and should be fastened together in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. • Windowsanddoorsetsshouldbeinstalledplumb and square with the aperture without twist, racking or distortion. • Frameplacement–replacementwindowsand door sets should be positioned to minimize the amount of making good. • Opencavitiesdiscoveredbetweeninnerand outer skins of brick or block work should be bridged or closed with an insulating material.

8. Installation – Fixing There are two principle methods of fixing available, whichmaybeusedseparatelyorincombination: through frame fixings and lug fixings. The surveyor is responsible for specifying the nature, location and quantity of the fixings, taking into account the manufacturer’s instructions. • Imposedloads–eachframemembershould be fixed to the substrate or to an adjacent window or door set. • FixingConsiderations–presenceorabsenceof a wall cavity / the nature of any cavity / the relative position of the frame and the cavity / position of the plaster line/ design of the reveal / any requirements for fire resistance. • FoamFixingshouldundernocircumstancesbe used as the sole method of fixing the entire frame into the reveal, but can be a useful adjunct to mechanical fixings. • Lugfixing–atwistinluganchorcanbeinstalled into the outer frame then the lug is connected to the sub structure.

9. Installation – Glazing • Inspection–allinsulatingglassunitsshouldbe examined for damage prior to installation. • Installation–allaccessoriesshouldbeinstalled in accordance with BS8000-7. • Insulating/SafetyGlassunitsshouldbeorientated with the safety glass on the appropriate side; it is a legal requirement that the marking on the safety glass remains visible after installation. • Itisessentialthatunitsaretoeandheeled correctly to ensure that the opening and closing operations are not hindered.

10. Installation – Sealing • Thepurposeoftheperimetersealantsistorepel water and prevent air leakage in the face of differential movement between the aperture and the window or door set. • Sealanttype–shouldbetestedandclassifiedin accordance with BS EN ISO 11600. • Considerations–perimeterjointsshouldbesealed with the sealant compatible with the frame material and the substrate. • SealantBacking–Sealantshouldbeapplied against a firm backing so that it is forced against the sides of the joint during application. • TrimsandPressingsshouldbecompatiblewith the material of the frame and should be colour matched where specified.

11. Installation – CommissioningAfter installation a final inspection should be carried out, preferably accompanied by the purchaser. It is essentialthat the user is made aware of the operation of the window or door set. It is good practice to have the purchaser sign off the inspection after the inspection has been passed.

1. Cleaning and MaintenanceAreas with the direct influence zones of salt water, industrial chemical plants, blast furnaces or other aggressive sources, the window or door set should be cleaned at least every three months. In a relatively cleaner environment six months should be sufficient. • Washdownwithclean,warmwatercontaining a non-alkaline liquid detergent using a non- abrasive cloth, sponge or soft bristle brush. • Rinsethoroughlywithcleanwater. • Dryusingasoftclothorleather.

2. Repair Procedure for blisters and corrosion • Usefinegrade120-360gritabrasivepaperto remove corrosion products and any non- adherent paint. • Wipewithwhitespiritorapprovedcleaningsolvents. • Ensuresurfaceisabsolutelydrybeforeapplying a thin priming coat. Allow 20-30 minutes to “flash off” using a fine brush. • Withafinebrushagain,touchinthedamaged and primed area with an air drying paint.

3. At Fabrication and Installation Stage • Extrusionsareprotectedbyaspecialisedlow density polyethylene tape which remains in place through manufacture and installation. • Greasemarks,dirtandmasticspillagemaybe removed using white spirit or the like. • Otherself-adhesivetapesandclearlacquers must not be applied as irreparable damage, under certain conditions, can occur to the organic coating.

4. Replacement of Broken Glass • Windowsanddoorscanbere-glazedandthe gaskets and weather stripping replaced. Any damage to the gasket or beads may necessitate replacement to retain the weather performance. • Ifdamageoccurs,thefurnitureandfittingscan be readily replaced by releasing the fixing screws and changing the fitting or hinges. • Thefrictionstaysandlockingmechanism should be lubricated periodically.
